Invited Speaker: Shawn
Sweeney,
The Emerging Field of
Conservation Psychology:
April 17, 2008 Shawn Sweeney is the Graduate Fellow for Roots & Shoots, the Jane Goodall Institute's global humanitarian and environmental program for youth. Over the course of the last three years, along with his outreach and education experience, Shawn has participated in and lead research projects in the field of Conservation Psychology. This field studies the reciprocal relationships between humans and the rest of nature, with a particular focus on how to encourage conservation of the natural world. Examples of his projects include evaluating public knowledge and awareness of Chimpanzee conservation, evaluating the role of zoos in society, and studying Positive Youth Development with youth involved with Roots & Shoots |
