2007 CELEBRATION OF SCHOLARSHIP
POSTER PRESENTATIONS
PS1:
“Analysis of Over Wintering Insects Occurring in Pitch
Pine in Shawnee State Forest”
Sarah Colvin, Shawnee
State University
Mentor: Dr. Deal
A capture and remove method was conducted to analyze
the over-wintering insects occurring in Pitch Pine in Shawnee State
Forest. A database containing all recorded field and specimen-related
data was generated. This baseline study records species in a previously
undocumented region.
PS2:
“Capital Punishment: The Violating of Human Rights”
Lindsay Marie Hays, Shawnee State University
Mentor: Dr. Scott Douthat
This poster will consist of images of executions and
graphs to support the abolition of capital punishment.
PS3:
“The Effects of Coca-Cola with Caffeine on Response Times
to General Knowledge Questions in Women”
Jane Tolle, Shawnee State University
Mentor: Dr. Kyle Vick
This study demonstrates how most studies concur with
the theory that Coca-Cola decreases women’s response times to general
knowledge questionnaires.
PS4:
“Organometallics: The Study of Nickel and Platinum Chemistry”
Zachary Ginn, Shawnee
State University
Mentor: Dr. Wendi Fleeman
The focus of this project is on the unique platinum
2.2-bipyridine “rollover” effect. This project will include a study of
the best synthetic routes and eventual steric and electronic properties
of the rollover effect. A comparison of these organometallic rollover
compounds to similar compounds will also be conducted.
PS5:
“Activity and Stereoselectivity of Asymmetrically
Substituted Ruthenium Alkylidene Catalysts in Ring-Closing Metathesis”
Duane A. Couchot-Vore
Mentor: Dr. Wendi Fleeman
The behavior of Grubbs-type ruthenium catalysts with chirality introduced at the metal center is studied with respect to the
stereo control of ring-closing metathesis reactions.
PS6:
“Don’t Split an
Infinitive”
Rachel Webb, Shawnee State University
Mentor: Dr. Debra Knutson
A display that explains various linguistic
perspectives on the proper usage of the rule.
PS7:
“Lake White Ecology”
Lacey Craft, Shawnee State University
Mentor: Dr. Bob Deal
Flora surveying at Lake White, along with soil
testing. |
