Job Placement Services

Job Placement assistance is available to all university students and alumni. You are invited to visit the office, talk with a career counselor, and take advantage of resources suited to your needs.

RESUME REFERRAL SERVICE - If you provide us with a disk containing your resume in Microsoft Word format, we will load it into our resume referral system. Then, when an employer calls looking for a person with your education and experience, we can fax your resume to that employer.  This system is ideal for students researching positions on a national scale.

BEAR HUNTER ONLINE - Office staff maintain a web site containing a selected list of job postings and other information useful to job seekers. Vacancies posted to this site are updated weekly.

WORKSHOPS - A variety of workshops are conducted throughout the year.  Included are topics such as resume writing  techniques, cover letter construction, interviewing skills, and job search strategies.

JOB FAIR - In March, employers are invited to campus to participate in our annual job fair.  The job fair is truly a win-win event for employers and students alike. You will have an opportunity to talk with a number of employers informally on the main display floor and interview formally with others if you so choose.

ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWING - Employers visit campus in order to meet and interview students seeking full-time, part-time and summer jobs. Contact the office for information regarding upcoming visits.

STUDENT CREDENTIALS - A special credential file is maintained for teacher education graduates. This file typically contains demographic information, a resume, recommendations, student teaching evaluations, and optional supporting materials.

CAREER LIBRARY - A variety of printed resources useful to job seekers are found in the Career Library. Books, periodicals, and a bulletin board all contain helpful material. In addition, the library houses a computer lab containing software programs relevant to the job search process.
