Title: Custodial Worker


Department: Facilities

Job Description: General cleaning of the area you are assigned to, this includes gathering and removal of trash and recycling materials, sweeping, duties, mopping and other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:
Ability to work outside in all seasons. Comfortable working with lawn equipment. Ability to lift heavy objects such as desks, chairs, boxes, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hours per week: 13-16

Proposed Work Schedule: It depends on the building you will be working in and the custodians in that building.

Title: Grounds Worker


Department: Facilities

Job Description: General lawns and ground work including cutting grass, weed eating, cleaning mulch beds, pulling weeds, picking up trash/cigarette butts, and shoveling snow. This position also includes assisting the utility workers in moving furniture and other duties as needed.


Minimum Requirements:
Ability to work outside in all seasons. Comfortable working with lawn equipment. Ability to lift heavy objects such as desks, chairs, boxes, etc.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiar working with general lawn equipment including lawn mower, weed eater and blower.

Hours per week: 16

Proposed Work Schedule: Hours will fall within 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Title: Math Tutor

Department: Mathematical Sciences

Job Description: A few students are needed to work in the math lab. Responsibilities include, tutoring students with math homework and assignments on a walk in basis. Should also be familiar with graphing calculators.


Minimum Requirements: Completion of Calculus 1 with a B or better.

Preferred Qualifications:

Title: Tutor

Department: English and Humanities

Job Description: Tutor students who visit the Reading and Writing Center, ADM 031

Minimum Requirements:

Excellent reading, writing, and editing skills. Willingness to interact with a variety of personalities. Must have completed General Education composition requirement (Engl 111, 112 and 115 or Engl 1101, 1102 and 1105).

Preferred Qualifications:
Major in English or related field.

Hours per week: 5-10

Title: Lab Prep Student  

Department: Natural Science

Job Description:

Student will be involved in making buffers, media, and reagents, cleaning labs, setting out materials for labs, organizing storage of materials, washing glassware, putting away materials after labs, and other duties as assigned. Note: The contact for these positions is Sharon Messer who will coordinate all student employment in the department and will inform applicants who to contact for more information. Minimum Requirements:

Student must be a science major (Biology, Chemistry, or Natural Science), must be familiar with some lab techniques in biology or chemistry (including using a balance, using a pH meter, measuring volumes, safely handling chemicals, etc.), and should have a good attitude and willingness to work.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred applicants will be in at least their second year of a BS degree in one of the areas of science, have a 3.0 or greater GPA, have successfully completed one year of General Biology or General Chemistry with at least a B for each term, and have a good relationship with science department faculty and staff.

Title: Supplemental Instructor

Department: Mathematical Sciences

Job Description: Two students are needed to provide assistance in the classroom and run recitation sections outside of class for selected math classes.


Minimum Requirements: Must have completed the pre-calculus sequence with a B or higher.

Title: Student Assistant


Department: Printing and Graphics

Job Description: Layout and design of various publications, also assist in daily  operation by answering phones, entering data, filing, operating various print shop machines, and making deliveries across campus.


Minimum Requirements:

Good portfolio samples and proof of working knowledge of layout programs (we use QuarkXpress on Macs). Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must work well under pressure and as a team member. This is a good learning experience for design students but anyone with experience in  the above can apply.
