October 24 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State closed out the 2007 season with a 1-0 double overtime win over the University of Rio Grande.  Shawnee State dominated the game on both ends of the field.  However, solid defensive play by Rio Grande kept the game scoreless through regulation and one overtime period.  Shawnee State out shot Rio Grande 34-7 and held a 16-5 margin in shots on goal.  Rio Grande keeper Sarah Sandlin recorded 15 saves to set a school record of 230 on the season.  Shawnee State's Sarah Koehler shot in the 106th minute ricocheted off of Sandlin and Kelly Bowles knocked home the carom to secure the win.  It was the 8th goal of the season for Bowles.

 
October 22 @ Mt. State

Shawnee State picked up a 2-1 win over Mt. State University.  Shawnee State scored first on a goal by Kelly Bowles, her 7th of the season, in the game's 14th minute.  Savoueng Ien picked up the assist.  The Bears added another goal just 4 minutes into the second period as Kat Westendorf found the net for the 6th time this season.  Mt. State pulled within one on a goal by Erica Alderman in the 79th minute of play.  Sam Rolsen recorded 6 saves in goal for her 7th win of the year.  [Box Score]

 
October 20 vs. Urbana

The Shawnee State lost to Urbana University 0-3 on Saturday afternoon. Shawnee State falls to 7-7-1 (0-5 AMC) on the season. Urbana improves to 14-4 (4-2 AMC) on the season. Julie Glaser scored the first goal for Urbana in the 19th minute of play on an assist from Darby McCullough. Urbana’s Abigail Nelson led the Blue Knights in scoring tallying two goals in the afternoon, both unassisted in the 36th and 76th minutes of play. Urbana out shot Shawnee State14 to 4 in the game. SSU’s Sam Rolsen recorded 6 saves in the game. Urbana’s Melanie Johansing recorded 0. [Box Score]

 
October 16 vs. Kentucky Christian

Shawnee State defeated Kentucky Christian University 9-0.  Shawnee State scored three goals in the first half of the game.  Amanda Jay scored the first two goals for the Bears.  The first was on an assist from Courtney Moore in the 9th minute of play and the second came on an assist from Sarah Koehler in the 11th minute of play.  Lana Kaucher scored on an assists from Koehler to round out the scoring in the first half.  The Bears scored six times in the second half.  Koehler opened the second half scoring on an assist from Jay.  Lana Kaucher tallied three more goals on assists from Moore, and two assists from Madeline Eckhart.  Lacie Abella capped off the game with an unassisted goal.  Shawnee State out shot Kentucky Christian 33-0 in the game.  [Box Score]

 
October 13 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State lost to NAIA No. 12 Ohio Dominican 0-3.  Ohio Dominican out shot Shawnee State 41 to 2 in the game.  SSU’s Sam Rolsen recorded 21 saves in the game.  ODU’s Krissie Sparks recorded 2 saves in the game.  [Box Score

 
October 9 vs. Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene University 4-1.  Mount Vernon’s Erin Miller scored the first goal of the game unassisted in the 18th minute of play.  Kelley Bowles scored Shawnee State only goal of the game unassisted in the 19th minute of play.  Jessica Estep scored Mount Vernon’s last three goals of the game.  She scored twice unassisted in the 35th and 48th minute of play.  She scored on an assist from Kristy Brandolini at the 49:00 minute mark of the game.  Mount Vernon out shot Shawnee State 29-4 in the game.  SSU’s Sam Rolsen recorded 15 saves in the game.  MVNU’s Jenessa Loewen recorded 2 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
September 29 vs. Point Park
Shawnee State Women’s Soccer Team defeated Point Park 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. Shawnee State improves to 6-3-1 on the season. Point Park falls to 3-5 on the season. Sarah Koehler tallied two goals in the game with the first coming in the 30th minute on an assist from Courtney Moore and Kelley Bowles. Her second goal was unassisted and came in the 49th minute. Koehler also had an assist on Kelley Bowles’ goal in the 69th minute of play. Kat Westendorf scored Shawnee State’s fourth goal of the afternoon (unassisted) to seal the win. Shawnee State out shot Point Park 15-9 in the game. SSU’s Sam Rolsen tallied 6 saves in the game. PPU’s Emily Tomalewski had 3 saves in the game. [Box Score]
 
September 28 vs. Asbury

Shawnee State lost to Asbury College 0-3.  Asbury’s Miranda Wiley tallied two goals in the game.  Her first goal came on an assist from Kristen Barennes in the 40th minute of play.  The second goal was unassisted at the 50:36 minute mark of the game.  AC’s Katie Crocker scored in the 72nd minute of play on an assist from Carol Fogler.  Shawnee State and Asbury College each had 14 shots in the game.  SSU’s Sam Rolsen recorded 7 saves in the game.  AC’s Maegan Rogers recorded 7 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
September 22 @ Walsh

Shawnee State lost to Walsh University by a score of 2-1 to open AMC play.  Shawnee State keeper Sam Rolsen recorded 9 saves in the first period alone to preserve a 0-0 tie at intermission.  Walsh scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick by Leya Spence in the game's 58th minute.  The Bears tied the match on a goal by Lizzie Simpson (assisted by Staci White) at the 67-minute mark.  Just three minutes later Walsh was awarded another penalty kick, this one taken by Rachel Naumann, to secure the 2-1 win for the Cavaliers.  Walsh out shot Shawnee State 15-3.  Rolsen recorded 13 total saves in the contest. 

 
September 17 vs. Bluffton

Shawnee State defeated Bluffton 2-1.  Shawnee State’s Kelley Bowles scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Staci White at the 11:35 minute mark of the game.  Bluffton tied the game with an unassisted goal by Nicole Frey at the 54:17 minute mark.  Shawnee State scored the winning goal in the 85th minute of play with a goal from Kat Westendorf on an assist Kelley Bowles.  Shawnee State out shot Bluffton 13-11 in the game.  SSU’s Sam Rolsen tallied 7 saves in the game.  BU’s Samantha Williams had 3 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
September 14 vs. University of Cumberlands

Shawnee State suffered their first loss of the season, as the Bears fell to the University of Cumberlands 1-2.  Shawnee State’s Maria Hartke scored the first goal of the game at the 6:12 mark of the game on assists by Kelley Bowles and Lana Kaucher.  University of Cumberlands’ Rebecca Rube scored the only other goal of the half from an assist from Stacie Tull.  UC’s Leslie Alfred scored the winning goal at the 53:56 mark of the game on an assist by Tull.  The University of Cumberlands out shot the Bears 22-9 in the game.  SSU’s Sam Rolsen recorded 11 saves in the game.  UC’s Stephanie Reid recorded 3 saves in the contest. September 8 @ Pikeville

Shawnee State defeated Pikeville College 8-1.  Shawnee State scored twice in the first five minutes of the contest.  The first was by Sarah Koehler on an assist from Courtney Moore at 1:53.  The second came off a Staci White corner kick that was netted by Savoeung Ien at 4:30.  Pikeville pulled to within one at 12:55 on an unassisted goal by Ashley Artis.  Shawnee State found the back of the net three more times in the first half with goals by Lacie Abella, Kelly Bowles, and Madeline Eckhart.  The Bears added goals by Koehler, Lizzie Simpson, and Staci White in the second period.  Sam Rolsen picked up the win in goal as she recorded 3 saves.  [Box Score]

 
September 5 @ Notre Dame

Shawnee State and Notre Dame College each came into the match with unblemished records.  Neither team had been scored upon the entire season.  The scoreless streaks came to an end as the teams played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie.  The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half of play.  Sam Rolsen recorded 12 saves for the Bears including numerous break-away saves.  Notre Dame Natali Bernot scored the first goal of the match on an assist from Lisa Good 5 minutes into the second half.  Lacie Abella tied the game in the 71st minute of play as her shot from 40 yards out ricocheted off the cross bar into the net.  It was her second goal of the season.  Notre Dame out shot Shawnee State 38 - 9.  Sam Rolsen 21 saves in the match.  Emilie LaMarche had 6 saves for Notre Dame.  "That was by far the best we've played this season," said Coach Rob Appell.  "In addition to great team play, Sam Rolsen probably had the best performance of her career.  She made some tremendous plays to keep us in the game."  [Box Score]

 
August 29 @ Carlow

Shawnee State whipped Carlow College 7-0 to equal the best start in school history.  Sarah Koehler had her second straight multi-goal game.  She scored 8 minutes into the game on a penalty kick.  She scored in the 52nd minute on an assist from Maria Hartke.  Kelley Bowles scored a pair of goals for the Bears as well.  The first came on an assist from Lana Kaucher in the 19th minute.  The second came on an assist from Staci White in the 54th minute of play.  White added a second assist on a goal by Kat Westendorf in the game's 21st minute.  Lana Kaucher added a goal on an assist from Lizzie Simpson in the 79th minute of play.  Lacie Abella capped the scoring with a break away goal with 4 minutes left on the clock.  Sam Rolsen had 2 saves as she recorded her second straight shutout.  "We had another quality team performance today," said Coach Rob Appell.  "We had the opportunity to work on some different game situations that should help us in future contests.  We continue to improve with each game, but still have some work to do to accomplish our season goals."  [Box Score]

 
August 28 @ Ursuline

Shawnee State rolled to its second shutout victory in as many games with a 4-0 win over Ursuline College (0-2).  Shawnee State's Sarah Koehler scored the first 3 goals of the game.  All were unassisted.  The first came just 4:25 into the match.  She scored again at the 5:51 mark.  Her third goal of the game came at 13:42.  Lana Kaucher added her first goal of the season on an assist from Kelley Bowles just 30 seconds later.  Sam Rolsen had 4 saves as she recorded the 7th shutout of her career.  "It was a good, solid team effort today," said Shawnee State coach Rob Appell.  "Sarah Koehler had a great game and got us off to a quick start.  Its always good to get a win on the road and a shutout makes it all the better."  [Box Score]

 
August 24 @ West Virginia Tech

Shawnee State opened the 2007 season with a 3-0 shutout victory over West Virginia Tech.  All of Shawnee State's scoring came from freshmen players.  Maria Hartke scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Kat Westendorf in the game's 34th minute.  Lizzie Simpson found the back of the net 10 minutes later on an assist from Cindi Hay.  Westendorf scored an unassisted goal in the 64th minute of the game.  Staci White worked the entire game in goal for the Bears to record her first career shutout.  "This was nice way to start the season," said Shawnee State coach, Rob Appell.  "Anytime you can go on the road and get a win you have to be happy.  This game also gives us a better understanding of where we are and what we need to work on to improve."  [Box Score]
