Shawnee State
closed out the 2004 season with a 6-0 loss at Cedarville
University. Cedarville jumped on top early with a goal
by Jane Adams less than five minutes into the game.
The Yellow Jackets added a goal by Katie Mariani at 17:01 to
take a 2-0 halftime lead. Cedarville would add 4
goals, including two more by Adams, in the second period.
Cedarville
out shot SSU 24-2. Shawnee State's Jessica Votaw
tallied 7 saves in her final game as a Bear.

Salem International |
|
Shawnee State lost to Salem
International by a score of 5-2.
Salem
jumped out to a very quick start scoring 2 goals in the first 22
minutes of the game. The Bears defense stiffened and did not allow another goal
until twenty minutes into the second half.
Kelli Hall scored on an assist from Kelli Hatas with just 3
minutes remaining in the half to cut the deficit to one. Jen Cummins scored Shawnee’s second and final goal of the
game at the 26:15 minute.
Brittany Webb had the assist.
SSU
keeper, Jessica Votaw, recorded 10 saves in the final home match of
her career.

lost to Malone College 8-0. Malone out shot SSU 17-3
on the day. Malone's Julie Herbst scored 5 goals and
had 1 assist. Donna Swift and Abbie Zippert had 2
assists each in the match. SSU's

| Shawnee State defeated
Spalding University 3-0. Shawnee’s Sarah Koehler scored the first goal
of the game at 33:03 in the first half on an assist from Amanda
Jay. Koehler scored again seventeen minutes into the second period.
Lacey Simpson
scored Shawnee’s third and final goal of the game at 70:42.
Kelly Hatas
assisted on both of SSU's second half goals. Jessica Votaw recorded 11 saves in the match.
Koehler's goal was
her 11th of the season, which is an SSU school record. Kelly
Hatas' 9 assists on the season is also a school record. |

| Shawnee State
lost to Ohio Dominican 2-0. ODU took a 1-0 lead in the
game's 11th minute on an unassisted goal by Carli Leonhardt.
The Panthers added another score on a penalty kick by Krissi
Sparks in the 42nd minute of the match. ODU out shot
SSU 29-11. Jessica Votaw recorded 13 saves in the

Shawnee
State lost to NCAA Division I Morehead State University by a score
of 7-0. SSU
trailed just 3-0 at the half, but Morehead's depth and speed were
too much for the Bears to overcome. The Eagles added 4 goals
in the second period. MSU's Rebekah Kendall set school records
with 7 points and 3 assists on the night.

| Shawnee State
lost to Tiffin University 9-0. SSU trailed just 2-0 at
the half before goalie Jessica Votaw injured a
shoulder. She remained in the game, and struggled, yet
still managed to record 15 saves on the day. Rachel
Garofolo and Nikki Castillo scored 2 goals apiece for the
Dragons. Ashley Spahn tallied 6 assists on the day. |

Kentucky Christian |
| Shawnee State
defeated Kentucky Christian 2-1 in overtime.
Kentucky Christian’s Toni Davis scored the first goal at
44:30 in the first half. SSU tied the game at 1 on a
penalty kick by Sarah Koehler at 25:00 in the second half.
The game remained tied at the end of the second half taking
the game into overtime.
SSU won the game in the first minute of over time
with another goal by Koehler.
Jen Cummins had the assist on the game winning goal.
Jessica Votaw recorded 5 saves in the match. |

lost to Urbana University by a score of 2-0. Shawnee
and Urbana kept it tight by neither scoring in the first
half. Urbana sealed the game by scoring two goals near the
end of the second half. SSU keeper, Jessica Votaw,
made 7 saves on the day. Urbana out shot SSU 10-7. LaToya
Harris and Michelle Williams each scored a goal for the Lady
Blue Knights. Jessica Glaser helped in the victory with an
assist late in the second half. |

State lost to Marietta College by a score of 1-0. Marietta’s
Jill Sorboro scored in the game’s 65th minute to break
a scoreless tie.
Marietta out shot SSU 18-16 in the match.
Marietta keeper, Bethany Blahnik recorded 10 saves on the
afternoon.

Walsh jumped out to a very quick start scoring 3 goals in
the first fifteen minutes of the match.
Two of the goals came from Jodi Antrican.
The Bears defense stiffened and did not allow another
goal until three minutes into the second half.
SSU keeper, Jessica Votaw, made 10 saves in the contest.

State’s Kelly Hatas tied a school record with 5 goals in the
match. She also had an
assist to break a school record with 11 points in a match.
Bears assistant coach Marseille Markham set both records when
she scored 5 goals against Kentucky Christian in 2001. Sarah
Koehler scored 2 goals and tallied 2 assists in the contest.
Lacey Simpson added a goal and an assist.
Shannon McClain scored her first collegiate goal as well. Kim Smith had 2 assists to go along with 1 assist each by
Julie Mihalik and Jennifer Ruckel. Shawnee State out
shot Ohio Valley 45-0.

Berea’s Lacey Bostick scored the first goal of the
game at 37:00 in the first half.
SSU tied the game at 1 on a goal by Jen Cummins at 12:30 in
the first half. Lacey
Simpson picked up the first assist of her career on the
play. SSU took
the lead on a goal by Kelly Hatas at 38:37 in the second
period. Cummins
had the assist on the goal.
Hatas scored her second goal of the game at 22:22 to
secure the victory.

Mt. Vernon’s Catherine Hess recorded her second hat trick
of the season with 3 goals.

State lost to St. Vincent College by a score of 4-1. Shawnee
State jumped out to a quick lead on Sarah Koehler’s fifth goal of
the season. It came at
17:34 on an assist from Brittany Webb.
St. Vincent answered two minutes later with a goal by Nicole
Mannella. Manella would
add another goal and an assist in leading St. Vincent to the
victory.

Shawnee
State picked up its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over
Brescia University. Brescia
jumped out to an early lead at Lauren Talyor scored a goal just 3:35
seconds into the game.
The Bearcats held the lead through the remainder of the first
half.
Shawnee State got off to a quick start in the second period
as Brittany Webb scored her second goal of the season at the 47:10
mark.
Lacey Simpson scored her first goal of the season at 65:01.
Sarah Koehler got into the action with her fourth goal in
three games at 75:55.
Kelly Hatas assisted on all three of the Bears’ goals.
Jessica Votaw worked the entire game in goal and recorded 5
saves.

For
the second consecutive day, Shawnee State played to a double
overtime tie. SSU
tied Anderson University 3-3. SSU
jumped out to an early lead as Sarah Koehler scored on an
assist from Brittany Webb less than one minute into the
game. Anderson
then scored 3 straight goals to go in front 3-1.
Kelly Hatas brought the Bears to within one as she
scored an unassisted goal with 2:26 remaining in the first
half. With just
7 minutes to go in the game, Koehler scored her second goal
of the contest on an assist from Hatas to send the game to
overtime. SSU’s Jessica Votaw faced 23 shots on the
day. She
recorded 7 saves. The
Bears totaled 15 shots in the game.

Shawnee
State played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with Muskingum
College.
Shawnee
State took a 1-0 lead just seven minutes into the game as
Sarah Koehler scored her first goal of the season on an
assist from Brittany Webb.
Muskingum tied the game with just 12 minutes to play
in the first period. Jessica
Votaw recorded 8 saves in goal for the Bears.
As a team, the
Bears out shot Muskingum 21-8.

vs. Baldwin Wallace |
Shawnee
State lost its season opener by a score of 4-2 to Baldwin
Wallace College. SSU
jumped to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Brittany Webb at the 26:21
mark of the first half. Kelly Hatas tallied an assist on the score.
Baldwin Wallace responded immediately with goals by
Jenny Miller at 31:09 and 32:26 in the first period.
SSU’s Kelly Hatas found the back of the net at the
39:50 mark to tie the game at two going into the half.
Jenny Miller added two goals for BW in the second
half to secure the win. Jessica
Votaw worked the entire game in goal for SSU.
She recorded 6 saves.
Emily Leonard and Michelle Neff split goal keeping
duties for the Yellow Jackets. Leonard recorded 5 saves while Neff added 6 saves.
