NORTHWESTERN'S CLELAND SIGNS WITH BEARS

Northwestern High School's Stephanie Cleland has signed a letter of intent to continue her running career at Shawnee State.

Cleland is a four year letter winner in cross country and three year letter winner in track. During her freshman and sophomore seasons, she helped guide the Warriors to back-to-back CBC Championships.

She is a three-year state qualifier.  As a senior, she ran a career best of 19:29. At the state meet she placed 63rd in a time of 19:46. In track her career bests were 5:38 in the mile and 12:28 in the two mile.

"Stephanie should come in and immediately make our top 7," states Bears' Head Coach Eric Putnam. "I am thrilled that she is coming to Shawnee State."

Cleland is the second Springfield Northwestern runner on the Bears' roster. She joins 2009 Springfield Northwestern graduate Kasey Hosier.

While attending Shawnee State, Cleland plans to study Secondary Mathematics Education.

Shawnee State completed their first season in the Mid-South Conference where they captured their first conference title in school history.  The Bears also earned their second bid to the NAIA National Meet where they placed 25th overall.

BEARS SIGN SOUTHEASTERN'S EGBERT

Southeastern High School's Marie Egbert has signed a letter of intent to continue her running career at Shawnee State. 

Egbert is a four-year letter winner in both cross country and track under under her coaches and past SSU runners John-Marcus Murray and Josh Murray. She was a 2010 State Qualifier and holds Southeastern's cross country record as well as track records in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. 

As a senior, she ran a personal best of 18:47 in cross country. Egbert ran her personal best of 11:59 in the 3200 meter run as a freshman.  As a junior, she ran personal records of 5:34 in the 1600 meter run and 2:30 in the 800 meter run.

Shawnee State completed their first season in the Mid-South Conference where they captured their first conference title in school history.  The Bears also earned their second bid to the NAIA National Meet where they placed 25th overall.

 
BEARS SIGN WESTERN BROWN'S BRIANA TUDOR

Western Brown High School's Briana Tudor has signed a letter of intent to run cross country at Shawnee State University.

Tudor is a four-year letter winner in track and field at Western Brown where she has earned 2nd team all-conference honors.  Her personal best in the two-mile is 12:32.  She has helped the Bronco's win the SBC Championships three years and looks to capture the title again during her senior season.

In the fall she participated in the Bear Run where she finished 1st among the women in a time of 20:05.   

While she has attended Western Brown, she has also lettered four years in soccer and two in basketball.  She earned 1st team all-conference recognition in soccer.
