2008 Women's Cross Country

 
BEARS FINISH 11TH & 13TH AT NAIA NATIONAL MEET; THREE BEARS EARN ALL-AMERICAN STATUS
The Shawnee State Cross Country Teams ended their seasons on high marks as the men's team finished 11th and the women's team finished 13th at the NAIA National Meet.
The men's team finished 11th out of 32 teams in their fourth appearance at the meet. Malone captured their second straight NAIA National Championship as they tallied 61 points in the meet.  Keegan Rathkamp led the Bears as he finished 10th overall in a time of 24:45, becoming Shawnee State's first male runner to earn All-American recognition.  Paul Webb finished the course in 25:54, following closely behind was Josh Linkous who recorded a time of 25:57.  Michael Owen (26:16) and Chuck Wentz (26:23) rounded out the scoring for the Bears. The women's team finished 13th out of 32 teams in their first appearance at the NAIA National Championship.  Lisa Davies paced the Bears as she finished 17th overall in a time of 17:54, earning her All-American honors for the second time.  Star Emmert finished 27th overall in a time of 18:05, earning All-American recognition for her second time.  Amanda Porter recorded a time of 19:00, while Sara Armstrong finished in a time of 19:30.  Brittney LiPira rounded out the scoring for the Bears as she finished with a time of 19:51.
 

Cross Country
SSU MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS
The Shawnee State Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams both received at-large bids to qualify for the National Championship Meet which will be held in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 22.  The women’s race will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the men’s race will start at 11:45 a.m.

This is the first time that the Shawnee State Women’s Team, which is currently ranked 16th in the NAIA, has ever qualified for the National Championship Meet.  The Women’s Team secured the at-large bid after placing 3rd at the American Mideast Conference Championship Meet on November 8th.   

This is the third time that Shawnee State Men’s Team has qualified for the NAIA National Championship Meet.  The Men’s Team secured the at-large bid after they placed 3rd at the AMC Championship Meet.
