March 13 vs. Hastings (NAIA National Tournament Sweet 16)

In one of the tournament’s most competitive games, Alison Meyer hit two free throws with six seconds left to knot the game at 67.  Becky Babione swatted away Kim Faimon’s lay-up as time expired to force overtime. However the Bears came up short in the extra period as Hastings pulled away to capture the win 77-69.  Shawnee State finishes their season 31-1.Meyer led the Bears in scoring and rebounding with 17 and 6 respectively.  Becky Babione chipped in with 11 points going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.  Kelly Wagner added 10 points as the departing seniors conclude outstanding careers with an astonishing 102-20 overall record! Lindsay Ducey led all scorers with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Shawnee State shot 34% from the floor in the game as Hastings  shot 40%. From beyond the arc the Bears went 9-for-19 for 47%. Hastings shot 5-for-19 for 26%. At the line the Bears made 16-of-23 attempts for 67% while Hastings made 30-of-38 attempts for 79%. [Box Score]

 
March 11 vs. Florida Memorial (NAIA National Tournament)

The Shawnee State Women's Basketball Team defeated Florida Memorial 74-58 in the first round of the NAIA Div. II National Tournament. Shawnee State’s inside game held strong as Alison Meyer led the Bears with a double-double scoring 19 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Jill Cropper also contributed to the Bear’s tough inside game with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Kelly Wagner, Mallory Albers, and Shy Johnson each added nine points in the game. Florida Memorial was led by Sudanne Stewart and Bianca Sellers who tallied 19 and 12 points respectively. Kiesha Alexander pulled down 9 rebounds for Florida Memorial. Shawnee State shot 41% from the floor in the game as Florida Memorial shot 30%. From beyond the arc the Bears went 3-for-13 for 23%. Florida Memorial shot 5-for-18 for 28%. At the line the Bears made 15-of-23 attempts for 65% while Florida Memorial made 15-of-27 attempts for 56%.[Box Score]

 
February 28 vs. Cedarville (AMC Showcase)

NAIA Division II No. 2 ranked Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team defeated No. 17 Cedarville University 59-47 to win the American Mideast Conference Championship Showcase. Becky Babione entered the game with 990 career points and the senior from Fremont, Ohio broke the 1,000 career point barrier after draining a three-point goal with 4:34 left in the game to extend the Bears led to double figures.  Babione recorded her thirteenth double-double on the season as she scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Mallory Albers and Alison Meyers each had 13 points in the game respectively. Cedarville was led by Kara Clayton and Alison Lemon who each had 12 points in the game. Aubrey Siemon pulled down 12 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets. Shawnee State shot 31% from the floor in the game as Cedarville shot 28%.  From beyond the arc the Bears went 4-for-11 for 36%.  Cedarville shot 6-for-22 for 27%.  At the line the Bears made 17-of-21 attempts for 81% while Cedarville made 9-for-15 attempts for 60%. February 21 vs. Ursuline

Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team made history Saturday in the Cave after defeating Ursuline College 106-55 and becoming the first team in Shawnee State history to go undefeated in the regular season. This is the eleventh time this season the Bears had broken the century mark in scoring. Overall the Bears are 29-0 and went 15-0 in conference play to win their sixth American Mideast Conference title since the conference formed in 1999. Shawnee State posted six players in double figures as Mallory Albers led all scorers with 20 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two assists. On senior day Becky Babione tallied her twelfth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds to go along with two blocks, two steals, and two assists and Kelly Wagner contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal for the Bears. Shy Johnson recorded 16 points in the game and Bianca Barton just missed a double-double as she had 10 points and nine assists.  “This is an amazing accomplishment and it is very rewarding to be a part of this,” said Head Coach Robin Hagen-Smith. “I am very happy for the seniors who set the example for everyone. This team will go down as one of the best team in Shawnee State history. I’m glad that the fans came out to support the Bears and be part of this special day.” Whitney Blackburn was Ursuline’s only player in double figures with 14 points in the game. Shawnee State went 47% (38-for-81) in the game compared to Ursuline who only shot 28% (18-for-64). February 20 vs. Notre Dame

NAIA Division II No. 2 ranked Shawnee State University remains undefeated as they defeated Notre Dame College 100-54. The Bears had six players in double figures as Mallory Albers led all scorers with 21 points.  Becky Babione tallied a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and she also had six blocks in the game. Shy Johnson had 14 points and Whitney Williams added 11 points.  Abby Ballman and Jill Cropper each added 10 points for the Bears. Natalie Houdek was Notre Dame's only player in double figures with 10 points. Shawnee State shot 44% from the field and Notre Dame shot 36%. The Bears shot 35% from beyond the arc, while Notre Dame was unable to make a three-pointer out of 10 attempts. February 14 @ Roberts Wesleyan

Shawnee State picked up a 87-60 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College. Jill Cropper led the Bears as she recorded a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Alison Meyer also tallied a double double as she scored 10 points and pulled down 1 boards. Kelly Wagner contributed 12 points, while Mallory Albers added 10 points. Roberts Wesleyan's Erin Farney led all scorers with 20 points. Jackie Murphy added 15 points. Shawnee State shot 44% from the floor, while RWC shot 36%. February 13 @ Daemen

The Bears defeated Daemen College 59-45.  Bianca Barton led the Bears with 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in the game.  Becky Babione tallied a double double as she scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Sarah Soroka led Daemen with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Sarah Bogardus added 13 points.  Neither team shot well from the floor as Shawnee State went 22-for-66 for 33% and Daemen went 17-for-66 for 26%. February 7 @ Malone

NAIA Division II No. 2 ranked Shawnee State got an easy 84-51 win over Malone. Shawnee State had four players in double figures, as senior Becky Babione led the way with 18 points. Babione also tallied seven rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and two assists. Juniors Mallory Albers and Alison Meyer each added 12 points in the game. Sophomore Jill Cropper contributed 10 points and eight rebounds for the Bears. Ashley Speicher was Malone's lone player in double figures as she tallied 10 points. Shawnee State shot 46% from the field, while Malone shot 38%. From beyond the arc the Bears shot 38% draining nine three pointers.  Malone shot 36% in three pointers making four in the game.  At the line the Bears went 13-for-14 for 93% and Malone went 3-for-9 for 33%. February 5 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State defeated rival Rio Grande 63-50. Becky Babione led the Bears with 15 points, five rebounds, and five blocks.  Kelly Wagner and Mallory Albers each added 11 point and five rebounds in the game. Jenna Smith was Rio Grande’s only player in double figures as she had a game high 18 points. Shawnee State shot 43% (23-for-54) in the game, while Rio Grande shot 30% (15-for-53). From beyond the arc, the Bears drained 7 three-pointers out of 18 attempts for 39%, while Rio Grande only made one three-pointer out of 10 attempts for 10%. February 3 vs. Mount Vernon

After a commanding 41-13 halftime lead the NAIA Division II No. 2 Shawnee State had no problem finishing the job as they defeat Mount Vernon Nazarene University 76-53. Shawnee State had three players in double figures.  Alison Meyer led the Bears’ offense with 17 points and she also pulled down five rebounds and had four blocked shots in the game.  Mallory Albers tallied 14 points and Becky Babione had her fourth consecutive double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go with five blocks and two assists.  Bianca Barton dished out seven assists for the Bears. Alexis Harkins led the Cougars with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Rachel Fiely added 10 points in the game. Shawnee State shot 45% in the game, while the Cougars shot only 27%. January 31 @ Cedarville

NAIA Division II No. 2 Shawnee State got a close win over No. 18 Cedarville as the Bears defeated the Yellow Jackets 88-84. Junior Mallory Albers showed a great performance as she led the Bears with a career-high 30 points to go with nine rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  Senior Kelly Wagner had 15 points, while freshman Biance Barton added 14 points for the Bears. AMC Player of the Week senior Becky Babione tallied her third straight double-double as she scored 12 points and pulled down 10 boards. Cedarville was led by Rachel Hurley and Alison Lemon who each tallied 16 points in the game.  Aubrey Siemon added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets. Shawnee State shot 44% from the floor, while Cedarville shot 42%.  Both teams shot well from beyond the arc as the Bears shot a blistering 53% and the Yellow Jackets shot 45%.  At the line Shawnee State shot 78% and Cedarville shot 84%.  [Box Score]

 
January 24 vs. Northwestern Ohio

Shawnee State Women’s Basketball, who are ranked No. 2 in NAIA Division II continue their winning streak as they defeat University of Northwestern Ohio 82-61 during Homecoming. Shy Johnson led the Bears with 18 points, while Mallory Albers contributed 16 points and three steals.  Becky Babione recorded a double-double for the second straight game as she scored 14 points and pulled down 14 boards. Babione also had two blocks in the game.  Kelly Wagner and Abby Ballman each added 12 points in the game. Amanda Francis and Ashley Jackson each had 12 points for University of Northwestern Ohio.  Abbie Clifton added 10 points and nine rebounds. Shawnee State out rebounded UNOH 45-35 in the game.  The Bears shot 42% from the field 44% from beyond the arc, and 69% from the charity strip.  UNOH shot 38% from the field, 38% from beyond the arc, and 69% from the foul line. January 20 @ Ohio Dominican

NAIA No. 2 Shawnee State rolled past Ohio Dominican 78-60. Becky Babione led the Bears as she tallied her sixth double-double of the season as she scored 21 points and pulled down 17 boards.  She also had five blocks, one steal, and one assist in the contest. Mallory Albers had 13 points, while Shy Johnson added 12 points.  Alison Meyer and Jill Cropper each added 10 points to the Bears' offense. Kirsten Ruen led ODU with 17 points and Melissa Hersey added 13 pints.  Chelsea Rogers contributed 12 points and Summer Hale pulled down 15 rebounds for the Panthers. From the field, SSU shot 43%, while ODU shot 35%.  From the line, the Bears went 21-for-25 for 84% and the Panthers shot 13-for-18 for 72%.  From beyond the arc, the Bears shot 36%, while ODU shot 37%.  Shawnee State out rebounded Ohio Dominican 45 to 32 in the game. January 17 vs. Walsh

NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team defeated Walsh 80-57. Mallory Albers led the Bears in scoring with 17 points. She also had five rebounds and four steals in the game.  Shy Johnson scored 15 points, while Becky Babione contributed 12 points, five rebounds, three blocks, and two steals in the game. Walsh was led by Cara Bedard who scored 22 points and pulled down 10 boards. Shawnee State shot 44% from the field, while Walsh shot 36%.  From beyond the arc the Bears 39% and Walsh shot 22%.  From the charity strip, the Bears made 15 of 19 attempts for 79%.  The Cavaliers went 11-for-14 for 79. January 16 vs. Houghton

NAIA No. 2 Women’s Basketball Team rolled over Houghton College 107-47. The Bears had six players in double figures.  Whitney Williams led all scorers as she had 15 points including three 3-pointers.  Shy Johnson added 14 points, while Jill Cropper scored 13 points.  Becky Babione contributed 12 points and nine rebounds and Mallory Albers had 12 points.  Abby Ballman added 10 points and dished out seven assists. Leah French led Houghton with 13 points. Shawnee State went 41-for-71 for 58% from the field and Houghton shot 17-for-64 for 27%.  From beyond the arc the Bears shot 35% and the Highlander shot 32%.  From the line Shawnee State shot 67%, while Houghton shot only  30%. January 8 vs. Wilberforce

Shawnee State showed why they are ranked No. 2 in NAIA Division II as they scored a school record 126 points to defeat Wilberforce University 126-59. Every player made it into the scoring column for the Bears.  Whitney Williams had a career night as she tallied 25 points, including five 3-pointers.  Williams just missed a perfect night as she went 8-for-9 from the field and was 4-for-4 at the charity strip.  She also had 5 rebounds in the game and dished out 3 assists.  Kelly Wagner and Jill Cropper each scored 16 points in the contest.  Wagner also pulled down 9 boards, while Cropper added 7 rebounds.  Alison Meyer contributed 14 points in the contest and Becky Babione added 11 points.  Abby Ballman pulled down 9 rebounds and dished out 8 assists for the Bears. Wilberforce was led by Deidra Brown who had 17 points in the game.  Andrecia Smith and Dai-Tiara Brown added 14 points and 10 points respectively. Shawnee State shot outstanding from the field, going 47-for-76 for 62%, while Wilberforce shot 22-for-74 for 30%. The Bears shot 59% from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs shot 21% in three-pointers.  Shawnee State went 19-for-20 at the foul line for 95%, while Wilberforce went 10-for-19 for 53%. [Box Score]

 
January 7 vs. Point Park

Shawnee State, who are ranked No. 2 in the NAIA Division II, keep their streak going as they defeated Point Park University 92-57. The Bears had four players in double-figures. Alison Meyer and Shy Johnson led all scorers with 16 points each.  Freshman Abby Ballman contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in the contest. Becky Babione tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Ashley Bergman led Point Park with 9 points. Shawnee State shot 46% from the field in the game, while Point Park shot 30%.  From the charity strip the Bears went 23-for-33 for 70% and Point Park went 15-for-25 for 60%.  From beyond the arc Shawnee State shot 29%, while Point Park shot 14%. January 3 @ Carlow

NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team opened up American Mideast Conference action on the road as the Bears defeated Carlow University 106-59. Shawnee State had five players in double figures.  Mallory Albers led all scorers with 17 points.  Albers also pulled down 5 rebounds to go along with 4 steals, 2 assists and 1 block in the contest.  Kelly Wagner had 15 points, while Alison Meyer and Shy Johnson each added 14 points in the game.  Jill Cropper contributed 13 points for the Bears. Carlow's Lauren Roscoe had 15 points in the game, while Sara McAteer added 14 points. In the game Shawnee State shot 59% from the field compared to Carlow who shot 40%.  The Bears were 5-for-7 from beyond the arc for 71% and Carlow went 6-for-12 for 50%.  At the line both teams shot about 78%, however the Bears made it to the line more as they went 21-for-27 and Carlow went 11-for-14.

 
December 30 vs. Union @ Wendy's/Buffalo Wild Wings Classic

NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team remains undefeated as they pick up a 79-55 win over Union College in the final game of the Wendy’s/Buffalo Wild Wings Classic.  Mallory Albers led the Bears with 17 points, 5 steals, and 4 assists.  Alison Meyer had 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block in the game.  Becky Babione and Shy Johnson each added 14 points to the Bears’ offense.  Babione also pulled down 6 boards and had 4 blocks in the game.  Kelly Wagner contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the game. Union was led by Ashley Lunsford’s 11 point effort.  Brooke Smith added 10 points for the Bulldogs. Shawnee State went 30-for-61 in the game for 49 percent, while the Bulldogs of Union shot 16-for-56 for 27%.  The Bears shot 39% from beyond the 3-point arc and Union shot 33%.  SSU went 14-for-18 at the line and UC went 16-for-24. [Box Score] Rio Grande defeated NAIA Division I No. 13 ranked Campbellsville University 70-68 in the first game of the Wendy’s/Buffalo Wild Wings Classic.  Rio Grande was led by Jenna Smith who had 19 points in the game.  Leah Kendro contributed 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Sarah Drabinski added 11 points.  Erin Kume added 10 points for the Red Storm and Alix Pulley dished out 7 assists.  For Campbellsville, Whitney Ballinger led all scorers in the game with 23 points and 11 rebounds.  Courtney Danis had 14 and Wendi Messer added 12 points in the contest.

December 29 vs. Campbellsville @ Wendy's/Buffalo Wild Wings Classic

The NAIA Division II No. 2 ranked Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team showed no weakness as they defeated NAIA Division I No. 13 ranked Campbellsville University 106-58  on the first day of the Wendy’s/Buffalo Wild Wings Classic. The Bears did not trail the entire game and had six players in double figures.  Mallory Albers led all scorers as she had a career-high 28 points to go with 6 rebounds.  Jill Cropper had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block in the game.  Shy Johnson added 14 points, while Kelly Wagner contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds for the Bears.  Becky Babione and Kayla Seip each added 10 points respectively.  Babione also tallied 4 blocks in the contest. Courtney Danis led Campbellsville with 12 points, while Alexia Williams had 10 points for the Tigers. Shawnee State shot 54% (39-for-72) in the contest, while Campbellsville shot 33% (22-for-67) from the field.  Shawnee State went 9-for-20 in three point goals for 45%, where as Campbellsville was unable to connect from beyond the arc.  The Bears shot 19-for-26 from the line and the Tigers shot 14-for-23. December 19 vs. Cardinal Stritch @ Fort Lauderdale, FL (Cruzin Classic)

In their closest contest of the season, the Shawnee State Women's Basketball Team edged past NAIA No. 19 ranked Cardinal Stritch 69-65 in the final minutes of the game at the Cruzin Classic.  Cardinal Stritch went on a 7-0 run to end the first half and gain the 41-34 advantage over the Bears at the half.  Shawnee State trailed most of the second half until Becky Babione drained two free throws to give the Bears its first lead of the second half at 62-61 with 4:02 to go in the game.  Cardinal Stritch regained the lead at 65-64 with a lay up by Michelle Stelloh with 1:46 remaining in the contest.  Alison Meyer hit 1 of 2 free throws to tie the game at 65 all, and Kelly Wagner and Mallory Albers each drained two free throws to help the Bears survive with a 69-65 victory. Becky Babione posted a double-double (fourth of the season) as she led all scorers with 21 points and 15 rebounds to go with 3 blocks.  Mallory Albers finished the game with 15 points and 4 steals, while Alison Meyers finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Kelly Wagner added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the Bears.  Bianca Barton dished out 5 assists in the game. Stelloh led Cardinal Stritch with 19 points, while Darianna Davis added 12 points. Shawnee State shot 36% (25-for-69) from the field, while Cardinal Stritch shot 41% (26-for-64) in the game.  The Bears were 4-for-11 in three-pointers, while the Wolves went 5-for-21.  From the line, Shawnee State went 15-for-21 for 71% and Cardinal Stritch shot 8-for-9 for 89%. December 18 vs. Siena Heights @ Fort Lauderdale, FL (Cruzin Classic)

NAIA No. 2 ranked undefeated Shawnee State cruised to a 104-52 victory over Siena Heights University. Becky Babione led Shawnee State as she posted her third double-double of the season with a game-high 22 points and 17 rebounds.  Jill Cropper came off the bench for the Bears to tally a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 4 assists and 2 blocks.  Mallory Albers contributed 13 points to the Bears' offense and Shy Johnson added 11 points. Shawnee State shot 60% (39-for-66) from the field while Siena Heights shot 23% (18-for-79).  The Bears shot a sizzling 57% from beyond the arc compared to SHU's 10%.  From the line SSU shot 75% (18-for-24) and SHU shot 74% (14-for-19. December 11 @ Wilberforce

NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State crushed Wilberforce University 108-58. Mallory Albers led all scorers with 25 points.  She also had 5 rebounds and 4 steals in the game.  Alison Meyer added 20 points and Jill Cropper tallied 14 points.  Kelly Wagner had 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in the contest.  Becky Babione tallied a double-double as she scored 10 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to go along with 3 blocks. Deidra Brown led Wilberforce with 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Janicia Anderson had 13 points, while Nitasha Keyes tallied 10 points and 4 assists in the contest. Shawnee State shot 42% from the field and Wilberforce shot 27% in the game.  From beyond the arc the Bears went 8-for-16, while WU went 4-for-15.  From the line SSU shot 30-for-37 for 81% and WU shot 10-for-19 for 53%. December 6 vs. Berea @ Asbury Tournament

The Bears defeated Berea College 101-80.  Shawnee State had six players in double figures.  Freshman Shy Johson scored a career-high 25 points.  Becky Babione tallied 17 points and 7 rebounds in the contest.  Kelly Wagner tallied her second straight double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.  Alison Meyer added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists for the Bears, while Abby Ballman tallied 11 points and 5 rebounds.  Bianca Barton totaled 10 pints and 7 assists in the game. Berea was led by Candy Walls who tallied 29 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal.  Annbruce Madden added 24 points, and Kristen Madden scored 13 points. Shawnee State shot 50% (37-for-74) from the field as Berea shot 27-for-67 for 40%.  Each team shot 37% percent beyond the arc. December 5 vs. Asbury @ Asbury Tournament

Shawnee State defeated host Asbury College 84-62 on Friday evening.  Mallory Albers led all scorers with 21 points, as she drained 5 3-pointers in the game.  Becky Babione had a solid game as she tallied 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist, and 1 block, while Jill Cropper added 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Kelly Wagner tallied a double-double as she scored 10 points and pulled down 10 boards.  Bianca Barton dished out 6 assists in the contest for the Bears. Asbury was led by Anna Stephanson who tallied 10 points.  Courtney Albin added 14 points and Brooke Jensen pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. Shawnee State shot 48% from the field compared to Asbury's 40%.  The Bears went 8-for-18 from beyond the arc and Asbury went 3-for-9.  From the line the Bears shot 14-for-22 for 64% and AC shot 13-for-17 for 77%. On Saturday the Bears squeaked by Saint Francis (IL) 71-68.  Alison Meyer led the Bears with 13 points.  Mallory Albers and Shy Johnson added 11 and 10 points respectively.  The Bears shot 36% from the field and USF shot 38%. The Bears went 5-for-18 in 3-pointers, while Saint Francis went 6-for-18.  At the line SSU was 18-for-27 for 67%, while USF was 15-for-16 for 94%. [Box Score]    
 
November 29 @ St. Francis (IN)

The Bears opened up the tournament on Friday with a 88-73 victory over No. 4 ranked St. Francis (IN). Becky Babione led all scorers as she posted a double-double, as she scored 27 points and pulled down 10 boards. Bianca Barton added 15 points and 7 assists, while Kelly Wagner added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Mallory Albers added 11 points in the contest. Shawnee State was 26-for-66 from the field as Saint Francis (IN) went 24-for-51. The Bears shot 36% from beyond the arc, while USF shot 40%.  From the line the Bears went 28-for-37 and Saint Francis was 21-for-30. [Box Score]

 
November 25 vs. Cedarville

NAIA No. 5 ranked Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team defeated Cedarville 68-57. Shawnee State was led by Mallory Albers who had 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks, and 1 assist in the game.  Jill Cropper had 12 points, and Shy Johnson added 11 points for the Bears.  Alison Meyer pulled down a team-high 11 boards. Cedarville had four players in double-figures.  Alison Lemon scored a team-high 14 points and Kara Cayton had 11 points.  Aubrey Siemon and Jenna Smith each had 10 points for the Yellow Jackets.  Siemon also pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds. Shawnee State was 25-fo-64 in the game for 39%, while Cedarville was 22-for-67 for 33%.  The Bears went 5-for-16 from the 3-pointers, and Cedarville went 5-for-19.  From the line the Bears shot 13-for-21 and Cedarville shot 8-for-14. November 22 vs. Berea

NAIA ranked No. 5 Shawnee State defeated Berea College 112-62.  Mallory Albers led all scorers with a career-high 26 points.  Albers also had 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block.  Jill Cropper tallied a double-double as she had a tied a career-high 23 points and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds.  Shy Johnson added 14 points.  Becky Babione and Whitney Williams also tallied double figures as they had 12 points and 10 points respectively. Shawnee State outshot Berea 47% to 31% from the field.  [Box Score]

 
November 21 vs. West Virginia Tech

NAIA ranked No. 5 Shawnee State Bears demolished West Virginia Tech 104-30.  Mallory Albers led all scorers as she had 24 points in the game, hitting 6 3-pointers.  Shy Johnson tallied a career-high 20 points to go with 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.  Becky Babione just missed a double-double as she had 9 points and 9 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot an outstanding 59% (38-for-64) from the field as WV Tech shot 26% (14-for-54).  From the arc shot 16-for-26 for 62%.  From the line, the Bears were 12-for-18 for 67%, and West Virginia Tech went 2-for-5 for 40%.  [Box Score]

 
November 18 vs. Rio Grande

After being up only 36-29 at the half, the #5 ranked Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team turned up the intensity to obtain 84-66 win over rival University of Rio Grande.  Shawnee State was led by Dick Hyland Player of the Game Alison Meyer.  Meyer recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.  She also tallied 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in the contest.  Biance Barton added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal.  Kelly Wagner had 13 pints, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal, while Mallory Albers had 11 points respectively.  Leah Kendro earned Rio Grande’s Dick Hyland Player of the Game Award as she was the only Red Storm player in double figures with 14 pints.  Erin Kume pulled town a team-high 8 rebounds.  The Bears outshot the Red Storm 47% to 31% in the game.  SSU was 7-for-18 from beyond the arc for 39% while URG went 7-for-19 for 37%.  From the free throw line, the Bears went 25-for-36 for 69%.  Rio Grande was 21-for-25 for 84%.           [Box Score]

 
November 8 vs. Daemen

NAIA preseason ranked #5 Shawnee State University opened the 2008-2009 with a 81-65 win over #17 ranked Daemen College Alison Meyer led the Bears’ balanced offense as she recorded 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Bianca Barton scored 12 points in her college debut.  Mallory Albers, Whitney Williams, and freshman Shy Johnson each added 11 points to the Bears effort.  Becky Babione pulled down a team-high 15 rebounds to go with 2 blocks.  Sarah Bogardus led Daemen with 25 points and 7 sevens.  Mary Kate Wilson added 10 points for the Wildcats.  Shawnee State had the slight advantage from the field as the shot 43.5% (27-62) compared to Daemen's 40.4% (19-27).  Daemen shot 69.7% from the free throw line and the Bears shot 57.5%.
