March 8 vs. Dakota State @ NAIA National Tournament

Tenth ranked Shawnee State lost to Dakota State 59-55 in the opening round of the NAIA Division II National Tournament.  The opening game of the tournament proved to be a defensive struggle as neither shot the ball well.  Shawnee State was 22 of 69 from the field for 32%%.  Dakota State committed more turnovers (23) than made field goals (18) as they shot just 27% from the field.  The Bears were 9 of 22 from the free throw line compared to 6 of 23 for Dakota State.  DSU dominated the glass 62-41 and held a decided advantage at the free throw line.  Dakota State capitalized on 17 of 24 attempts from the strip compared to Shawnee State’s 2 of 6 attempts.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Heather Schilling chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds.   Luara Tewes and Jessica VanLoy led Dakota State with 12 points apiece.  Tewes had a team-high 15 rebounds.  Angie Gottsleben had 11 points and Amber Malvin chipped in with 10 points.

 
February 28 @ Daemen

The 10th ranked Shawnee State University Women's Basketball Team lost the American Mideast Conference Tournament Final to Daemen College 69-58.  Shawnee State shot a season-low 25.8% from the field.  The Bears made just 17 field goals while committing 20 turnovers.  Shawnee State was 17 of 66 overall and 4 of 21 on three-pointers.  The Bears connected on 20 of 24 attempts from the foul line.  Daemen shot 56% from the field, the best percentage allowed by Shawnee State this season.  The Wildcats were 27 of 48 overall and 3 of 6 from beyond the arc.  Daemen converted just 12 of 21 free throw attempts.  Karen Diehl led the Bears with 20 points and 7 rebounds.  She made just one field goal in the game, a three-pointer, but set a school-record with 17 made free throws.  Kelly Wagner was the only other Bear to reach double-figures with 10 points.  Tara Walker, Shawnee State's leading scorer at 20 points per game, was held to just 7 points on 3 of 11 shooting.  Alison LaPoint and Allison Depp had 20 points apiece for Daemen.  Depp added 14 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  Germany Jackson had 12 points and Sarah Bogardus chipped in with 10 points. 

 
February 25 vs. Geneva

The 10th ranked Shawnee State University Women's Basketball Team defeated Geneva College 83-67 to advance to the American Mideast Conference Tournament Final.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 32 points and 7 rebounds.  She was 12 of 18 from the field and 8 of 11 from the free throw line. Shannon Thomas chipped in with 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Freshmen Kelly Wagner and Karen Diehl had 10 points apiece.  Jen Rawding scored 15 points to lead Geneva.  She became the school's all-time leading scorer on her first made basket.  Jackie Anthony had 14 points.  Megan Gallagher added 11 points, and Ali Cananzi chipped in with 10 points.  Shawnee State shot 56% from the field, connecting on 28 of 50 attempts.  The Bears were 2 of 9 from beyond the arc and 25 of 30 from the free throw line.  Geneva shot 40% from the field on 27 of 67 attempts.  The Golden Tornadoes made 5 of 20 three-point shots and 8 of 11 free throws.

 
February 21 vs. Malone

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, defeated Malone College 71-51 in the opening round of the American Mideast Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.  Shawnee State went on a 14-0 run to jump out to a 22-5 lead with 12:10 to play in the first half.  Malone closed out the half on a 13-6 run and trailed 28-18 at the break.  Malone pulled to within 34-28 at the 16:51 mark in the second period.  Shawnee State then went on a 22-6 run to take a 56-34 and put the game out of reach.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 16 points and 8 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas added 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Heather Schilling had 12 points and 6 rebounds.  Mandy Deal had a season-high 11 points.  Erica Mishcler led Malone with 14 points on the night.  Nikki Parson had 13 points and 8 rebounds.  Cara Shiplett chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot 43% (28-65) from the field compared to 37% (19-51) for Malone.  Shawnee State was 7 of 19 from the three-point line but just 8 of 18 from the free throw line.  Malone connected on 2 of 11 attempts from beyond the arc and 11 of 18 free throws.  The Bears scored 27 points on 20 Pioneer turnovers.  Shawnee State turned the ball over just 9 times.

 
February 18 @ Walsh

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, lost its regular season finale 70-63 at Walsh University.  Tara Walker led Shawnee State with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Heather Schilling had 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Dionna Hammett led Walsh with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Beth Sternberg and Ingrid Brainard led Walsh with 16 points apiece.  Neither team shot well in the game.  Shawnee State was 22 of 61 from the field for 36%.  Walsh connected on 20 of 55 attempts for 36%.  The difference in the game came at the foul line.  The Cavaliers made 25 of 30 attempts at the charity stripe compared to Shawnee State's 14 of 20 attempts.

 
February 14 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, defeated The University of Rio Grande 78-65.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 20 points and 8 rebounds.  Kelly Wagner was named the Dick Hyland Player of the Game as she tallied 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Heather Schilling chipped in with 12 points and Karen Diehl added 10 points.  Ka’Yanna Feaster led Rio Grande with 16 points.  Sarah Drabinski had 10 points.  Shawnee State shot 42% (23-55) from the field compared to Rio Grande’s 38% (26-69).  Shawnee State held a decided advantage at the free throw line.  The Bears went to the stripe 50 times and made 29.   Tara Walker established a new school record as she went to the line 21 times.  However, she made just 10 of those attempts.  Rio Grade was 9 of 22 from the free throw line. 

 
February 9 vs. Wilberforce

Shawnee State had little trouble avenging an earlier loss with an 86-51 trouncing of Wilberforce University.  Wilberforce managed to keep the game close early and trailed 16-12 with 11:15 to play in the first half.  Shawnee State went on a 19-7 run over the next six minutes and Wilberforce never recovered.  The Bears led 48-28 at the half and never led by less than 20 points the entire second period.  Shawnee State shot 50% from the field compared to just 32% for Wilberforce.  The Bears went to the line 33 times but made just 18 foul shots.   Tara Walker led the Bears with 20 points.   Karen Diehl tied a career-high with 18 points.  Heather Schilling had 13 points and Andrea Rudmann chipped in with 11 points and 6 rebounds.   Kanisha Coward was the only Bulldog to reach double figures.  She had 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Shawnee State closes out its home schedule against rival Rio Grande (12-13, 7-8 AMC) on Tuesday.  Shawnee State whipped Rio Grande 77-44 at Rio on January 17.  Game time is 6:00 p.m. in the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center.

 
February 7 @ Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, picked up its fourth straight win with an 83-64 victory over Ohio Dominican.  Tara Walker was nearly unstoppable for the Bears as she poured in a career-high 36 points.  She was 15 of 20 from the field and a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line.  She also had 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.  Shannon Leasure had 10 points and Shannon Thomas chipped in with 9 points and 10 rebounds.  Krissy Haines led Ohio Dominican with 21 points.  Cassidy Wertman and Katalin Beck had 12 points apiece.  Shawnee State shot 48.4% (30-62) from the field.   The Bears were 6 of 19 from the three-point line and 17 of 24 from the free throw line.  Shawnee State dominated the glass 43-28.  Ohio Dominican shot 40% (22-55) from the field including 37% (7-19) on three-pointers.  The Panthers committed 22 turnovers.

 
February 4 vs. Mt. Vernon Nazarene

Shawnee State, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, defeated Mt. Vernon Nazarene 86-64.  The win secured Shawnee State’s 15th consecutive 20-win season.  Shawnee State shot a season-high 62% from the field connecting on 39 of 63 attempts.  Mt. Vernon managed to make just 19 of 57 attempts for 33%.  Neither team shot well from the outside.  Shawnee State was 3 of 12 from beyond the arc while Mt. Vernon made just 2 of 19 three-pointers.  Shawnee State won the rebounding battle 41-29.  Karen Diehl led Shawnee State with a career-high 18 points.  Shannon Thomas and Tara Walker chipped in with 15 points apiece.  Shannon Leasure added 14 points.  Madisyn Helton led Mt. Vernon with 18 points.  Amy Sebastian had 16 points and Katie Keller added 12 points.   Shawnee State travels to Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday.  Shawnee State defeated ODU 80-63 in Portsmouth on January 10.  Shawnee State returns home to host Wilberforce University on Thursday.  Game time is 6:00 p.m. in the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center.

 
January 31 @ Urbana

Shawnee State, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, soundly defeated Urbana University 63-43.  Shawnee State used an 18-2 run midway through the second half to break open a four-point game.  The Bears led 36-32 with 12:45 to play.  Seven minutes later, Karen Diehl had scored 9 points and helped the Bears to a 54-34 advantage.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 22 points and moved into 10th place on Shawnee State’s all-time scoring list.  She added 18 rebounds to record her 9th double-double of the season.   Brittany Runner led Urbana with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  Neither team shot well.  Shawnee State connected on 25 of 65 attempts from the field for 38.5%.  Urbana managed to shoot just 33%, connecting on 18 of 54 attempts.  Shawnee State dominated the glass 53-32. Shawnee State hosts Mt. Vernon University on Saturday.  The Bears defeated the Cougars 79-62 in Mt. Vernon on January 14.  Game time is 2:00 p.m. at the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center.

 
January 28 @ Tiffin

Shawnee State, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, snapped a two-game losing streak with a 72-55 win over Tiffin University.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 19 points.  Heather Schilling had 14 points.  Karen Diehl chipped in with 11 points and a career-high 9 rebounds.  Jennifer Rosselit led Tiffin with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Brienne Beaschler had 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Jaclyn Burton added 11 points.  Shawnee State shot 44% from the field connecting on 30 of 68 attempts from the field.  The Bears were 8 of 22 from beyond the arc and 4 of 9 from the free throw line.  Shawnee State scored 26 points on 19 Tiffin turnovers.  Tiffin shot just 38% (19-50) from the field.  The Dragons were 5 of 18 on three-pointers and 12 of 14 from the foul line. 

 
January 24 vs. Cedarville

Shawnee State, ranked 7th in NAIA Division II, lost to 3rd ranked Cedarville University 75-69.  The win is the eighth straight in the series for Cedarville.  In a game that featured 10 ties and 20 lead changes, Cedarville took the lead for good on a pair of free throws by Stacie Travis with 3:51 to play.   Tara Walker led the Bears with 31 points and 15 rebounds.  She was 13 of 19 from the field and 5 of 8 from the foul line.  Kelly Wagner had a career-high 20 points to go along with 5 rebounds.  Brittany Smart had 33 points and 8 rebounds.  Stacie Travis had 13 points and Karah Walton chipped in with 10 points.   Shawnee State connected on 29 of 72 attempts from the field for 40%.  The Bears were 10 of 14 from the free throw line but just 1 of 11 from beyond the arc.  SSU held a 44-38 rebounding edge.  Cedarville shot 43.5% (27-62) from the field including 9 of 22 on three-pointers for 41%.  The Yellow Jackets were 12 of 14 from the foul line. 

 
January 21 @ Wilberforce

Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 7th in NAIA Division II, lost to Wilberforce University 67-65.  Wilberforce jumped out to an early 10-2 lead as Shawnee State missed six of its first seven shots.  The Bulldogs would build the lead to 32-15 before the Bears would make a run and enter the locker room down 36-30.  Wilberforce built the lead back to eleven at 58-47 with 6:45 to play.  Shawnee State went on a run and Tara Walker tied the game at 65-65 with 18 seconds to play.  Shay Goree, who finished the game with 6 points, hit the game winner for the Bulldogs with 4 seconds left on the clock.  Tara Walker led the Bear with 23 points and 5 rebounds.  Heather Schilling had 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 10 points.  Shamarah Thomas led Wilberforce with 18 points.  Jasmin Jones had 14 points and 9 rebounds.  Kindra Taylor added 10 points.  As a team, Shawnee State shot 46% from the field connecting on 28 of 61 attempts from the field.  The Bears were 4 of 9 from beyond the arc and 5 of 8 from the foul line.  Wilberforce connected on 27 of 58 attempts from the field for 46.6%.  The Bulldogs were 6 of 14 on three-pointers and 7 of 15 from the free throw line.

 
January 17 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State University, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, had little trouble in defeating The University of Rio Grande 77-44.  Shawnee State jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and never looked back.  Rio Grance pulled to within 19-15 with 7:33 in the first half, but could never get closer.  Heather Schilling led the Bears with 14 points and 8 rebounds.  Tara Walker and Shannon Thomas had 13 points apiece.  Walker added 10 rebounds for her fourth consecutive double-double.  Brindi Kandel and Ka'Yanna Feaster led Rio Grande with 10 points apiece.  Shawnee State shot 45% from the field compared to just 26% for Rio Grande.  The Shawnee State defense forced 20 Rio Grande turnovers while allowing just 16 Rio Grande field goals.  Shawnee State won the rebounding battle 47-41.

 
January 14 @ Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, rebounded from its stunning upset at the hands of Malone College on Thursday night with a 79-62 win at Mt. Vernon Nazarene.  Shawnee State never trailed in the game, but held just a 40-38 halftime lead.  The Bears went on a 12-4 to take a 52-42 lead with 15:52 to play.  Mt. Vernon rallied to close within 4 points at 58-54 with 10:29 left in the game.  Shawnee State went on an 11-0 run over the next 5 minutes to win pulling away.  Tara Walker recorded her third straight double-double with 29 points and 10 rebounds.  Heather Schilling had 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Karen Diehl chipped in with 12 points off the bench.  Katie Keller led Mt. Vernon with 17 points.  Erin Arnett had 12 points and Ashley Brown added 11.  Shawnee State shot 56% from the field compared to just 25% for Mt. Vernon.  Mt. Vernon had more turnovers (19) than field goals (16).  Mt. Vernon was able to keep the game as close as it was by making 24 of 32 attempts from the free throw line.

 
January 12 vs. Malone

Shawnee State, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, lost a shocker to unranked Malone College 66-65.  Despite shooting over 50% from the field and forcing 20 turnovers, Shawnee State could never shake free from a pesky Malone squad.  The game featured 10 lead changes and 7 ties.  Shawnee State led by as many as 8 points twice in the game and Malone led by 8 points at 26-18 in the first half.   Tara Walker led Shawnee State with 24 points and 11 rebounds on the night.  She was 9 of 10 from the field for 20 points in the first half.  She took just 3 shots in the second half making just one of those.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 13 points for Shawnee State.   Cara Shiplett led Malone with 17 points and 9 rebounds.  Erica Mishler added 13 points for the Pioneers.   Shawnee State connected on 27 of 53 field goal attempts for 50.9%.  The Bears made just 2 of 13 three-pointers and 9 of 15 attempts from the free throw line.  Malone shot 44% (25-57) from the field including 6 of 13 attempts from long range.  Malone out rebounded Shawnee State 36-29.  Fourteen of those boards came on the offensive end and led to 15 second chance points.

 
January 10 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, defeated Ohio Dominican University 80-63.  Shawnee State used a 24-5 run over the last nine minutes of the first half to turn a 17-14 deficit into a 38-22 halftime lead.  The Shawnee State defense forced 9 turnovers and allowed just 2 field goals during that decisive stretch.  Heather Schilling led Shawnee State with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 5 assists.  Tara Walker and Shannon Thomas had 18 points apiece.  Walker added 10 rebounds.   Andrea Cralberg was the only Panther to reach double figures.  She had 12 points and 6 rebounds.  As a team, Shawnee State shot 46.6% (27-58) from the field.  The Bears feasted at the free throw line connecting on 25 of 30 attempts.  Ohio Dominican shot just 34.5% (20-58) from the field.  ODU was 19 of 29 from the foul line.  Ohio Dominican out rebounded Shawnee State 42-35.

 
January 7 vs. Tiffin

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, defeated Tiffin University 59-51.   Tiffin led Shawnee State 26-23 at the half.  The Dragons extended the lead to 29-23 before the Bears went on an 18-2 run to take at 41-31 lead with 11:56 to play.  Tiffin would get as close as 4 points, but could never retake the lead.  Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.  Tara Walker had 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Megan Jesulaitis and Lauren McKinley had 9 points apiece to lead Tiffin.  As a team, Shawnee State shot just 38% (24-63) from the field.  However, the Bears defense held Tiffin to just 24.6% (17-69) shooting.  Shawnee State won the rebounding battle 49-45.  The Bears committed a season-low 10 turnovers.

 
January 3 vs. Urbana

Shawnee State, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, outlasted Urbana with an ugly 55-32 win.  Neither team played well early as the Bears held a 21-8 lead at the end of the first half.  Shawnee State struggled connecting on just 9 of 33 field goal attempts in the period.  Compared to Urbana, however, the Bears were on fire.  The Blue Knights were just 3 of 25 from the field for 12%.  The offense picked up for the Bears in the second half as they connected on 15 of 37 attempts for 41%.  SSU shot 34% for the game.  Urbana’s struggles continued as the Blue Knights were 9 of 28 for the half.  Urbana shot just 22.6% (12-53) for the game.  Shawnee State out rebounded Urbana 52-40.  Shawnee State forced 24 Urbana turnovers in the contest.  Shannon Thomas and Tara Walker led the Bears with 13 points apiece.  Thomas added 8 rebounds and Walker tied a career-high with 3 blocks.  Faith Ligon was the only Blue Knight to reach double-figures.  She had 10 points and 3 rebounds. 

 
December 20 vs. The University of the Cumberlands

Shawnee State, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, defeated The University of the Cumberlands 73-71 in overtime.  Shawnee State led 31-26 at the half.  Cumberland stormed out of the locker room on a 14-5 run to take a 40-36 lead.  The Patriots would build their lead to 55-44 with 9:57 to play.  Shawnee State clawed back to within 63-60 by the 4:10 mark.  Back-to-back buckets by Kelly Wagner gave the Bears a 64-63 lead with 2:10 left to play.  Tanille Cann followed with a three-pointer to put the Patriots back up by two.  Shannon Thomas drove the lane for a lay-up to send the game to overtime tied at 66.  Thomas scored the first overtime bucket with 3:43 to play and the Bears never relinquished the lead.   Freshman Kelly Wagner led the Bears with a career-high 17 points.  Shannon Leasure and Karen Diehl had 11 points apiece.  Tara Walker and Shannon Thomas added 10 points apiece.  Walker became the school’s 20th player to reach 1000 points for her career with her field goal barely two minutes into the game.  Tenille Cann led Cumberland with 23 points.  Jennifer Nagy added 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Kristen Roberson chipped in with 14 points.  Shawnee State shot 52.7% (29-55) from the field compared to 42.6% (29-68) for Cumberland.  The Patriots won the rebounding battle 40-34. 

 
December 18 vs. St. Francis

Shawnee State, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, defeated 15th ranked St. Francis 71-64 in the final game of the Wendy’s Classic.  Tara Walker led the way with 22 points.  Karen Diehl added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the Bears.  St. Francis had 4 players in double figures.  Megan Dossen scored 25 points and had 10 rebounds.  Nikki Lewis and Chivonn Keppeler added 14 apiece.  Amanda Engelking chipped in with 10 points.  Shawnee State connected on 26 of 61 attempts from the field for 43%.  The Bears were 4 of 20 on three-pointers and 15 of 20 from the free throw line.  St. Francis shot 39% (21-54) from the field and 18% (4-22) from beyond the arc.  Each team had 37 rebounds in the game. 

 
December 17 vs. Notre Dame

Shawnee State University defeated Notre Dame 92-75. Five Bears scored in double-figures on the afternoon.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Heather Schilling added 10 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals in the game.  Andrea Rudmann, Shannon Leasure, and Kelly Wagner each scored 10 apiece for the Bears.  Sarah Dia led Notre Dame with 21 points. Dierra Malone had 16 points and 9 rebounds and Tamika Watkins added 16 points.   Shawnee State connected on 37 of 74 attempts from the fields for 50%.  The Bears were 8 of 25 on three-pointers and 10 of 17 from the free throe line.  Notre Dame shot 44% (30-68) form the field and 35% (9-26) from behind the arc.  The Bears out rebounded Notre Dame 45-38.

 
December 10 @ Cedarville

Shawnee State, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, lost to 3rd ranked Cedarville University 73-69.  Shawnee State jumped out to a 21-9 lead with 8:13 to play in the first half.  Cedarville went on a 12-2 run to close to within two.  The teams went to the locker room tied 29-29.  Cedarville went on a 15-4 run to start the second period to take a 44-33 lead.  The Yellow Jackets led 60-50 with 7:40 to play.  The Bears twice closed to within one, but could never take the lead.  Freshman Karen Diehl led the Bears with 13 points.  She was 6 of 7 from the field including 1 of 2 on three-pointers.  Shannon Thomas and Tara Walker chipped in with 12 points apiece.  Brittany Smart led Cedarville with 27 points.  Emily Delimpo had 16 points for the Yellow Jackets.  Shawnee State shot 45% (28-62) from the field compared to 36% (24-66) for Cedarville.  Neither team shot well from beyond the arc.  Shawnee State connected on 7 of 23 attempts while Cedarville was 7 of 25.  Shawnee State won the rebounding battle 41-40.  The difference in the game came at the free throw line.  Cedarville feasted at the free throw line connecting on 18 of 23 attempts.  Shawnee State made 6 of 7 attempts from the line.

 
December 3 @ Georgetown

Shawnee State, ranked 22nd in NAIA Division II, lost to NAIA Division I #8 Georgetown College 92-84.  Tara Walker led the Bears as she scored 25 points for the second straight night.  She was 11 of 16 from the field and 3 of 5 from the foul line.  Shannon Leasure tied a career-high with 17 points.  She was 7 of 13 from the field including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.  Karen Diehl chipped in with a career-high 14 points.  Julie Leach led Georgetown with 20 points.  She was 7 of 9 from the floor and a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line.  Julie Ingle had 19 points.  Katie Columbus had 14 points and 10 assists.  As a team, Shawnee State shot 53.7% (36-67) from the field including 50% (7-14) on three-pointers.  Shawnee State was 5 of 8 from the foul line.  Shawnee State lost the rebounding battle for just the second time this season.  Georgetown out rebounded Shawnee State 32-24.  Shawnee State entered the game holding opponents to 37% shooting.  Georgetown had little trouble with the Bears' defense connecting on 32 of 60 attempts from the field for 53.3%.  The Tigers were 8 of 18 from beyond the arc and 20 of 22 from the foul line.

Shawnee State, ranked 22nd in NAIA Division II, defeated Lindsey Wilson College 82-76.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 25 points and 11 rebounds.  She was 10 of 13 from the field and a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line.  Shannon Thomas tied a career-high with 24 points.  She was 9 of 12 from the field and 6 of 7 from the foul line.  Shannon Leasure chipped in with 11 points off the bench.  Damoya Williams led Lindsey Wilson with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  Terran Duncan had 11 points and Rudy Brent added 10 points.  Shawnee State shot a blistering 57% (29-51) from the field.  The Bears were just 2 of 11 from beyond the arc but connected on 22 of 28 attempts from the free throw line.  Lindsey Wilson trailed 42-27 at the half thanks in large part to shooting just 34% (11-32) from the field in the opening period.  LWC stormed back to make the game close by making 21 of 33 shots, including 4 of 11 three-pointers, in the second half.

 
November 29 @ Malone

Shawnee State, ranked 22nd in NAIA Division II, defeated Malone College 72-54 to remain perfect on the season.   

Tara Walker and Shannon Leasure led the Bears with 16 points apiece.  Freshman Karen Diehl chipped in with a career-high 13 points.  Nikki Parsons was the only Malone player to reach double figures.  She had 13 points to go along with 8 rebounds.  Shawnee State connected on 30 of 61 attempts from the field for 49% compared to Malone’s 21 of 54 (39%) for Malone.  Neither team shot well from the outside.  Shawnee State was 4 of 18 while Malone was just 3 of 17 from beyond the arc.  Shawnee State forced 23 Malone turnovers.

 
November 26 @ Pikeville

Shawnee State, ranked 22nd in NAIA Division II, defeated Pikeville College 68-63.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Freshman Kelly Wagner chipped in with a career-high 11 points.  Julie Yates led Pikeville with 19 points.  Tonya Amburgey had 12 points and Sasha Fields came off the bench with 11 points.  Shawnee State shot 39.7% (23-58) from the field compared to 43.6% (24-55) for Pikeville.  SSU struggled from the outside making just 4 of 17 three-point attempts.  Pikeville was 7 of 19 from beyond the arc.  The difference in the game was at the foul line.  Shawnee State was 18 of 22 from the stripe, while Pikeville connected on 8 of only 10 attempts. 

 
November 22 vs. Walsh

Shawnee State, ranked 22nd in NAIA Division II, had little trouble in its AMC opener.  Shawnee State defeated Walsh 97-57. Four Bears scored in double-figures.  Freshman Becky Babione led the way with 17 points and 8 rebounds, both career-highs.  She was 4 of 6 from the field including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc and 7 of 9 from the free throw line.  Shannon Thomas had 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Andrea Rudmann and Tara Walker had 13 points apiece.  Karen Diehl tied a career-high with 12 points. Beth Sternberg led Walsh with 13 points.  She was the only Cavalier to score in double-figures.   Shawnee State dominated almost every facet of the game.  The Bears connected on 32 of 67 attempts from the field for 48% compared to 35% (22-63) for Walsh.  Shawnee State out rebounded Walsh 51-33.  SSU forced 23 Walsh turnovers, 15 coming on steals.  Shawnee State was 28 of 40 from the foul line while Walsh converted on 11 of 13 attempts from the line.   

 
November 19 @ St. Francis

Shawnee State defeated 6th ranked St. Francis 89-84.  Shannon Thomas had 20 points and 4 rebounds to lead the Bears.  Tara Walker and Shannon Leasure had 16 points apiece.  Shawnee State shot 49% (29-59) from the floor including 41% (9-22) from beyond the arc.  St. Francis shot 43% (28-65) from the field overall but just 28% (7-25) on three-pointers.

 
November 18 vs. Spring Arbor (@ St. Francis)

Shawnee State defeated Spring Arbor 83-55.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 22 points and 6 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas had 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Andrea Rudmann was 1 point shy of her career-high with 12 points.  Heather Schilling broke the school record for 3-point field goals made in a career.  She entered the game tied with Tiffany Clayton at 251 made in her career.  She made three in the game and finished with 11 points.  Shawnee State out rebounded Spring Arbor 47-31.  The Bears shot 47% (34-72) from the field compared to 37% (20-54) for Spring Arbor.

 
November 8 @ The University of the Cumberlands

Shawnee State, ranked #22 in NAIA Division II, easily defeated The University of the Cumberlands, ranked 16th in NAIA Division I, by a score of 85-62.  Shawnee State continued to shoot well from the field connecting on 31-54 attempts from the field for 57.4%.  The Bears are shooting 52.5% from the field three games into the season.  Shawnee State held the Cumberlands to 34% shooting on 21 of 61 attempts.  Shawnee State won the rebounding battle 34-19.  Heather Schilling led the Bears with 19 points on the evening. Tara Walker had 18 points and 8 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas had 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Alyssa Fuller led The University of the Cumberlands with 18 points.  Jennifer Nagy and Kirsten Roberson had 15 and 11 points respectively. 

 
November 5 vs. St. Vincent

Shawnee State, ranked 22nd in NAIA Division II, defeated St. Vincent University 96-59.  Shawnee State shot 52% (36-68) from the field compared to just 25.9% (14-54) for St. Vincent.  Shawnee State outrebounded St. Vincent 51-32.  Tara Walker led all scorers with 22 points.  She was 8 of 9 from the field and 6 of 8 from the foul line.  Andrea Rudmann had 13 points and Heather Schilling chipped in wth 12 points.  Shannon Thomas had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Kelly Wagner came off the bench with 10 points.  Kristen Myers was the only St. Vincent player in double figures.  She had 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting.  She was 2 of 6 from beyond the arc and 4 of 4 from the foul line.

 
November 4 vs. Cornerstone
Shawnee State, ranked 22nd in the NAIA, had little trouble defeating 12th ranked Cornerstone University 75-59 to open the season.   Shawnee State broke open what was a four-point game at the half with a 24-2.  The Bears led 35-31 with 18:39 to play.  The lead stretched to 59-33 by the 10:13 mark.  Cornerstone never got closer than the final margin of 16.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Heather Schilling had 14 points and 7 rebounds in her first game back since the end of the 2003 – 2004 season.  Freshman Karen Diehl came off the bench for 12 points.  Shannon Thomas had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Sarah Bussis and Kara Overbeck had 10 points apiece for Cornerstone.  Stephanie Allers had 9 points and 12 rebounds.   As a team, Shawnee State connected on 29 of 61 attempts from the field for 47.5%.  Shawnee State out rebounded Cornerstone 46-39.  Shawnee State’s defense held Cornerstone to 28% shooting on 18 of 64 attempts.
