March 1 vs. Roberts Wesleyan

Shawnee State lost to Roberts Wesleyan College 67-65 in the American Mideast Conference Tournament Finals.  Roberts Wesleyan improves to 27-7 on the season and automatically qualifies for the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Sioux City , Iowa .  Shawnee State ’s streak of 11 straight appearances in the National Tournament likely comes to an end with the loss.   The game was tied at 29 with 1:52 to play in the first half.  Roberts Wesleyan went on a 7-2 run to take a 36-31 lead into halftime.  Shawnee State closed to within 2 points at 45-43 with 14:26 to play, but could never pull even.  The Raiders lead grew to 61-51 with 7:28 to play.  Shawnee State cut the lead to 67-65 on two free throws by Tara Walker with 14 seconds to play.  Robert Wesleyan’s Christine Hunter missed the front end of a one and one to give Shawnee State a chance to tie or win.  However, Nikki Tucker’s 3-point attempt as time expired did not draw iron.   Tara Walker led the Bears with 27 points and a career-high 20 rebounds.  She was 12 of 16 from the field and 3 of 5 from the foul line.  She closes out the season with a string of 8 straight double-doubles.  Cassie Hannah had 19 points and 6 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas had 13 points and 8 rebounds.   Judy Wright, the AMC’s leading scorer at 26 points per game, led all scorers with 29 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 8 steals.  Christine Hunter had 14 points and 4 assists.   As a team, Shawnee State shot 40% (27-68) from the field.  The Bears were just 3 of 17 on three-pointers and 8 of 15 from the foul line.  Shawnee State out rebounded Roberts Wesleyan 52-38.  The Raiders overcame the rebounding deficit by forcing 19 Shawnee State turnovers while committing just nine.  Roberts Wesleyan shot 41% (28-69) from the field.  RWC connected on just 4 of 19 three-point attempts and 7 of 12 attempts from the free throw line.   

 
February 26 vs. Seton Hill

Shawnee State defeated Seton Hill University 81-71 to advance to the American Mideast Conference Tournament Finals.  Seton Hill came out hot and jumped out early and built a 34-25 lead with 7:35 to play in the first half.  Shawnee State closed to within 1 at 45-44 at the half.  SSU scored the first basket in the second half at the 18:25 mark and never relinquished the lead.  Tara Walker had 23 points and 14 rebounds for her 7th consecutive double-double and 16th of the season.  Shannon Thomas led all scorers with 24 points.  Nikki Tucker chipped in with 11 points on the night.   Denishia Salter led Seton Hill with 21 points.  Elena Radenkovik had 20 points and 7 rebounds.  Adrianne Scarsella added 11 points off the bench for the Griffins.  Shawnee State shot 47.5% from the field for the game compared to 36.8% for Seton Hill.  SS dominated the glass 45-33.  

 
February 22 vs. St. Vincent

Shawnee State defeated St. Vincent College 92-71 in the opening round of the AMC Tournament.  Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals.  Shannon Leasure tied her career-high with 17 points on the night.  Tara Walker had 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Cassie Hannah and Ali Hull had 15 and 11 points respectively.  Kristen Myers led St. Vincent with 21 points.  Sarah Rockwell had 19 points for the Bearcats.  Chanell Wade chipped in with 10 points.  Shawnee State shot 50% (31-62) from the field.  The Bears were 7 of 15 from the three-point line and 23 of 29 from the foul line.  SSU won the rebounding battle 40-27.  St. Vincent connected on 24 of 55 attempts from the field for 44%.  They were just 7 of 21 on three-pointers and 16 of 20 from the free throw line.  

 
February 19 vs. Walsh

Shawnee State University clinched home court throughout the American Mideast Conference Tournament with a 79-61 win over Walsh University .   Shawnee State trailed by 12 with 3:18 to play in the first half.  A 12-0 run by the Bears tied the game at 39 with 1:13 to play in the period.  Walsh took a 41-40 lead into the locker room at halftime.  SSU trailed 44-49 with 14:24 to play.  The Bears went on a 17-2 run over the next 4 ½ minutes to take a 61-51 lead.  Walsh never got closer than 8 points the rest of the way.  Cassie Hannah scored 27 points and became the 18th member of SSU’s 1000-point club.  Tara Walker had 13 points and 10 rebounds for her 14th double-double of the season.  Ali Hull had career highs with 12 points and 19 rebounds.  Dionna Hammet led Walsh with 18 points and 8 rebounds.  Ingrid Brainard had 15 points and 6 rebounds.  Beth Sternberg chipped in with 12 points.  

 
February 15 @ Rio Grande

For just the 3rd time in the 34 games, the University of Rio Grande women’s basketball team defeated Shawnee State University.  It is the first win for Rio Grande in the series since 1993.  Rio Grande, ranked 19th in NAIA Division II, defeated Shawnee State 81-79.  Rio Grande’s Tiffanie Hager hit the game winning bucket with 7 seconds to play.   Rio Grande fouled twice as SSU tried to advance the ball up the floor.  Just 1 second remained in the game after the second foul, and SSU was unable to get a good look at the basket before time expired.  Cassie Hannah led SSU with 25 points and 7 rebounds on the night.  Tara Walker had 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 assists.  They were the only Bears to reach double figures.  Carlesha Chambers led Rio Grande with 21 points and 6 assists.  Tana Richey had 13 points off the bench.  Tiffanie Hager added 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Angel Allen chipped in with 10 points and 5 assists.  As a team, SSU shot 44% (30-68) from the field.  SSU struggled from outside, hitting just 5 of 20 three-point attempts.  The Bears converted 14 of 19 attempts from the foul line.  Rio Grande was 32 of 62 from the field for 52%.  Rio was 5 of 12 beyond the arc and 12 of 14 from the free three line. 

 
February 12 @ Wilberforce

Shawnee State defeated Wilberforce University 52-52.   Tara Walker picked up her 12th double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  She also had a career-high 4 assists and 2 steals.  Cassie Hannah had a double-double as well with 20 points and 11 rebounds.   Jasmin Jones led Wilberforce with 14 points and 12 rebounds.  Kanisha Coward chipped in with 11 points for the Bulldogs.   Shawnee State shot just 31.6% (18-57) from the field while holding Wilberforce to 27% (18-67).  Both teams struggled on their three-point shots.  SSU was 5 of 24 for 21% and Wilberforce was just 5 of 26 for 19%.  SSU won the game at the foul line, connecting on 21 of 29 attempts.  Wilberforce converted just 11 of 25 attempts from the free throw line.  

 
February 8 @ Ohio Dominican

Playing in her first game since January 4 due to a knee injury, Nikki Tucker came off the bench to score 19 points and lead Shawnee State to an 89-58 victory over Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday evening.  In 20 minutes, Tucker was 7 of 8 from the field and 5 of 6 on three-pointers.  Tara Walker had her 12th double-double of the season with 24 points and 14 rebounds.  She was 10 of 16 from the field and 4 of 5 from the foul line.  Cassie Hannah had 14 points and 5 assists.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 12 points.  Krissy Haines led Ohio Dominican with 17 points and 5 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot a season-best 56.5% from the floor.  The Bears were 35-62 from the field overall and 7-13 from beyond the arc.  SSU committed just 9 turnovers while forcing 16 ODU miscues.  Ohio Dominican shot just 38% (24-63) from the field.  The Panthers were 0-19 on three-point attempts.

 
February 5 @ Mt. Vernon

For the first time since the 1997-1998 season, the Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University .  Mt. Vernon defeated Shawnee State 82-81.   Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 32 points and 6 rebounds.  She was 11 of 17 from the field and 10 of 10 from the free throw line.  Tara Walker had 18 points and 12 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas added 13 points and 12 rebounds.   Amy Sebastian led Mt. Vernon with 18 points.  Jenny Morris had 17 points, including the game winning three-pointer with 4.5 seconds to play in the game.  Katie Keller had 14 points and Miranda Capuano had 13 points.    Shawnee State shot 53% (34-64) from the field, but was 0 for 7 on three-point shots.  SSU was just 13 of 21 from the free throw line for 62%.   Mt. Vernon shot just 38% (25-65) from the field, but connected on 12 of 32 three-pointers.  Mt. Vernon capitalized on its free throws connecting on 20 of 24 attempts from the stripe.  

 
February 1 vs. Urbana 

Shawnee State defeated Urbana University 72-59.   Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Mandy Deal had 13 points to go along with 6 assists.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Shannon Leasure added 11 points off the bench.   Chemika Pittman led the Blue Knights with 19 points and 8 rebounds.  Taria Blanchard and Sam Riley had 11 points apiece.  Candice McQueen had 7 points and 16 rebounds.   Shawnee State shot 41% (26-63) from the field while holding Urbana to 36% (22-61) from the field.  SSU connected on 6 of 16 three-point field goals and 14 of 18 free throws.  Urbana was just 7 of 25 from beyond the arc and hit just 8 of 15 attempts from the foul line.  

 
January 29 vs. Tiffin

Shawnee State defeated Tiffin University 71-59.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 23 points and 16 rebounds.  Cassie Hannah had 17 points and 4 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Jen Rosselit and Jaclyn Burton had 12 points apiece for Tiffin .  Sarah Pitson had 11 points and Lindsay Redlawsk added 10 points.  Shawnee State tallied assists on 20 of 30 made field goals.  Mandy Deal recorded a career-high 11 assists.  Shawnee State shot 39% (30-77) from the field.  The Bears were 5 of 15 on three-pointers and 6 of 8 from the free throw line.  Shawnee State forced 22 Tiffin turnovers while committing just 8 on the afternoon.  Tiffin shot 41% (23-56) from the field overall and connected on 7 of 14 three-pointers for 50%.  The Dragons were 6 of 11 from the foul line.

 
January 25 @ Cedarville

Shawnee State lost to #1 ranked Cedarville University by a score of 80-63.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 20 points on the evening.  Tara Walker collected her 8th double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Anna Ramey chipped in with 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Kari Flunker led Cedarville with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Brittany Smart had 20 points and 6 rebounds.  Emily DeLimpo had 10 points.  Shawnee State shot just 37% (22-59) from the field including just 29% (5-17) on three-pointers.  SSU committed 21 turnovers, which Cedarville converted to 21 points.  Cedarville shot 48% (30-63) overall and 50% (8-16) from beyond the arc.

 
January 22 vs. Wilberforce

Shawnee State defeated Wilberforce University 78-63.   Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 17 points on the day.  Tara Walker chipped in with 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Cassie Hannah had 14 points and 6 assists.  Anna Ramey added 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Jasmin Jones led the Bulldogs with 18 points and 11 rebounds.  Kanisha Howard had 16 points and Shamarah Thomas had 10 points.   Shawnee State shot 43% (29-68) from the field compared to 34% (27-80) for Wilberforce.  SSU hit 5 of 14 three-pointers while the Bulldogs were just 2 of 14 from beyond the arc.  Shawnee State converted on 15 of 18 trips to the free throw line.  Wilberforce was 7 of 11 at the stripe.  

 
January 18 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State defeated the 13th ranked University of Rio Grande 65-55.  The win is the 22nd in a row in the series for Shawnee State.  Tara Walker led the Bears with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks and earned the Dick Hyland Player of the Game Award for SSU.  Cassie Hannah had 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 10 points.  Carlesha Chamberlain led Rio with 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.  She was the only player in double-figures for Rio.  She was named the Dick Hyland Player of the Game for Rio Grande. Shawnee State shot 41.4% (24-58) from the field compared to 35.6% (21-59) for Rio Grande.  SSU out rebounded URG 41-38.  The Bears forced 19 Rio Grande turnovers. 

  
January 15 vs. Mt. Vernon Nazarene

Shawnee State, ranked 25th in NAIA Division II, defeated Mt. Vernon Nazarene 99-94 in overtime.  Shawnee State led 74-59 with 6:35 to play.  Mt. Vernon went on a 22-7 run to close out regulation.  Katie Keller hit a jumper with :07 to play to tie the game.   The game remained tied with 1:55 to play in overtime at 88-88.  SSU’s Cassie Hannah scored 6 straight points to give the Bears the lead at 94-88 and put the game out of reach.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Tara Walker added 25 points and 9 rebounds.  She was 10 for 12 from the field and 5 of 8 from the foul line.  Shannon Thomas had a career-high 23 points to go along with 5 assists.  Madisyn Helton led Mt. Vernon with 28 points and 13 rebounds.  Miranda Capuano had 18 points off the bench.  Erin Arnett had 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot 44.3% (35-79) from the field.  SSU was 4 of 16 from beyond the arc for 25%.  The Bears hit 25 of 37 free throw attempts.  Mt. Vernon shot 53% (36-68) from the field and connected on 7 of 23 three-point attempts.  The Cougars out rebounded SSU 44-41. 

 
January 13 @ Malone

Shawnee State, ranked 25th in NAIA Division II, lost 67-56 at Malone College.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 18 points and 5 rebounds.  Tarra Walker had 10 points and 9 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas added 8 points and 10 boards.  Nikki Parson led Malone with 28 points and 6 rebounds.  Michelle Ling chipped in with 16 points, 5 assists, and 6 steals.  Shawnee State shot just 32% (20-63) from the field compared to 46% (27-59) for Malone.  Shawnee State committed 20 turnovers on the night.

 
January 11 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State, ranked 25th in NAIA Division II, defeated Ohio Dominican University 84-64.  The win marked the 500th in the 22-year career of Coach Robin Hagen-Smith.  Of Smith’s 500 wins, 423 have come since Shawnee State began varsity competition in 1988.  The remaining 77 wins came while Smith was the coach at Shawnee State Community College.  Her overall career record stands at 500-150.  Tara Walker led the Bears with a career-high 34 points and 9 rebounds.  She was 16 of 18 from the field and 2 of 4 from the free throw line.  Shannon Thomas had 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Cassie Hannah, the reigning AMC Player of the Week, added 14 points and 9 rebounds.  Krissy Haines led Ohio Dominican with 15 points and 9 rebounds.  Megan Niese had 14 points and Brandy Caldwell chipped in with 13 points.  Kelly Zunkiewicz chipped in with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Shawnee State shot 48.5% (32-66) from the field overall but just 17% (1-6) from beyond the arc.  The Bears connected on 19 of 26 attempts from the free throw line.  Shawnee State out rebounded ODU 49-38.  Ohio Dominican shot just 34% (23-68) from the field including 29% (7-24) on 3-pointers.  The Panthers were 11 of 16 from the foul line.  

January 8 @ Tiffin

Shawnee State, ranked 24th in NAIA Division II, defeated Tiffin University 76-62.  For Shawnee State head coach Robin Hagen-Smith, the victory is the 499th of her career at Shawnee State.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Shannon Thomas had 20 points and 7 boards.  Anna Ramey chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds.  Ashley Lane led the Dragons with 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Jen Rosselit had 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Brienne Beaschler added 10 points and 9 boards.  Shawnee State shot 43% (29-68) from the field compared to just 34% (21-61) for Tiffin.  Shawnee State committed a season-low 6 turnovers while forcing 13 Tiffin miscues.

 
January 4 @ Urbana

Shawnee State defeated Urbana University 78-77 in overtime.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals on the night.  Shannon Thomas had 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Tara Walker chipped in with her sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Chemika Pittman led the Blue Knights with 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Sam Riley had 20 points and Candice McQueen added 18 points and 8 rebounds.  Shawnee State trailed 67-65 with 11 seconds to play in regulation.  SSU fouled Urbana’s Sam Riley to put her at the line for two free throws.  She made the first to give the Blue Knights a 3-point lead.  Riley missed the second free throw, which would have likely iced the game.   Cassie Hannah drained a 3-pointer as time expired to send the game to overtime.  Urbana’s Brittany Riley missed two free throws with 10 seconds to play in overtime.  Tara Walker hit a lay-up on an inbounds play with 1 second on the clock to give the Bears the win.  As a team, Shawnee State shot just 39% (32-82) from the field while Urbana connected on 34 of 75 attempts for 45%.  Urbana out rebounded Shawnee State 51-48.  The Blue Knights made just 5 of 15 free throws compared to 9 of 14 for the Bears.

 
December 30 vs. Mars Hill (@ Bluefield)

Shawnee State lost to Mars Hill College in the championship game of the Bluefield State Tournament .  Shawnee State led Mars Hill 35-29 at the half but with four starters playing more than 30 minutes, the Bears tired in the second half.  Mars Hill shot 61% (17-28) in the second half and outscored SSU 47-30.  Mars Hill shot 46% for the game compared to just 39% for SSU.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 22 points and 8 rebounds.  Tara Walker added 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Lindsey Jones led Mars Hill with 24 points.  Kristi Ferris had 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Laura Snider chipped in with 12 points on the night. 

 
December 29 vs. Lincoln Memorial (@ Bluefield)

Shawnee State opened the Bluefield State Tournament with a 66-61 victory over Lincoln Memorial.  Nikki Tucker led the Bears with 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Tara Walker had 13 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.  Shannon Thomas and Cassie Hannah chipped in with 11 points each.  Madeline Richards led LMU with 19 points.  Jamie Jackson added 11 points in the losing effort.    

 
December 18 vs. Malone

Shawnee State defeated Malone 60-48 for its second straight AMC South victory.  Tara Walker led the Bears with a career-high 26 points.  Cassie Hannah added 17 points and 7 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas had a career-high 13 rebounds.  Nikki Parson was the only Pioneer to reach double figures.  She had 17 points and 9 rebounds. Shawnee State shot just 36% from the field connecting on 24 of 66 attempts.  Malone was just 18 of 58 for 31% from the field.  Shawnee State held a 50-41 edge on the boards.

 
December 14 @ Walsh

Shawnee State snapped a three-game losing streak with an 82-65 win over Walsh University.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Tara Walker collected her fourth double-double on the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 16 points and Anna Ramey added 10 points for the Bears.  Dionna Hammett led Walsh with 22 points and 12 rebounds.  Jessy Fye added 12 points off the bench for the Cavaliers.  Shawnee State shot 48% (31-65) from the field while holding Walsh to 36% (28-77) shooting.  Shawnee State connected on 15 of 21 attempts from the foul line compared to just 6 of 10 makes for Walsh.

 
December 11 vs. Cedarville

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team lost to 2nd ranked Cedarville University 81-75.  Shawnee State led by as much as 8 points twice in the first half and by 4 in the second half, but Cedarville’s Brittany Smart proved too tough for the Bears.  She led all-scorers with 41 points and 9 rebounds on the afternoon.  She was 15 of 25 from the field including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc.  She was a perfect 10 of 10 from the foul line.  Kristi Beougher added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets.  Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 20 points and 6 rebounds.  Tara Walker had 18 points and 7 rebounds.  Cassie Hannah chipped in with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  As a team, Shawnee State was 29 of 67 from the field for 43.3%.  The Bears connected on 5 of 17 three-point attempts for 29.4%.  Cedarville was 29 of 74 on the day for 39.2% and just 2 of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Yellow Jackets were nearly perfect from the foul line hitting 21 of 22 attempts.  Cedarville out rebounded SSU 49-36.  

  
December 4 vs. IU-South Bend (@ Cornerstone)
Shawnee State lost to Indiana-South Bend 73-63 in the second round of the Cornerstone Tournament.  Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 19 points and 6 rebounds.  Cassie Hannah had 12 points and Ali Hull added a career-high 10 points on the day.  IUSB out rebounded Shawnee State 49-30.  SSU shot 37% from the field compared to 45% by IUSB.
 
December 3 @ Cornerstone

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, lost to 13th ranked Cornerstone University 68-55.  Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 17 points and 6 rebounds on the night.  Tara Walker had 12 points and 9 rebounds.  Shannon Leasure, starting in place of Nikki Tucker (broken nose), scored 10 points. Kate Anderson led Cornerstone with 19 points and 7 rebounds.  Cathi Velzen had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Shawnee State connected on just 23 of 64 attempts from the field for 36%.  Cornerstone was 26 of 60 for 43%.   

  
November 28 @ Methodist

Shawnee State defeated Methodist College 73-53.  Walker led all scorers with a career-high 20 points.  She also grabbed 10 rebounds to record her 3rd double-double on the season.  Cassie Hannah had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 7 steals.  Nikki Tucker chipped in with 11 points.  Stacy Williams led Methodist (2-3) with 12 points and 3 rebounds.  Ashley Smith added 11 points off the bench.  Shawnee State shot 52% (30-58) from the field while limiting Methodist to just 30% (16-53) shooting.  SSU forced 28 turnovers, 15 of which came on steals.   SSU has forced at least 20 steals in each of its last five games.

 
November 27 vs. Ferrum (@ Methodist)

Shawnee State defeated Ferrum College in the opening game of the Turkey Shootout hosted by Methodist College.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists in the victory over Ferrum.  Tara Walker chipped in with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas added 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Amber Triplett led Ferrum with 20 points.  Aline Alzime had 10 points and 16 rebounds.  Shawnee State’s defense held Ferrum to 35% (20-56) shooting in the game and forced 31 turnovers.  Nineteen of the turnovers were the result of SSU steals.

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, snapped a two-game losing skid with a 64-56 win over Illinois Springfield.  Freshman guard Shannon Leasure led the Bears with 15 points and 6 rebounds on the day.  Cassie Hannah chipped in with 13 points and 5 rebounds.  Tara Walker added 10 points.  Ashley Barton led Illinois Springfield with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Zabrina Harper and LaTrice Nettles had 14 and 13 points respectively.  As a team, Shawnee State shot just 39.7% (23-58) from the field.  The Bears connected on just 6 of 20 three-pointers for 30% and 12 of 20 free throw attempts for 60%.  ISU shot 42.9% (24-56) from the field including just 25% (3-12) from beyond the arc.  SSU out rebounded ISU 39-33.  The Bears’ defense forced 25 Illinois Springfield turnovers.

 
November 19 vs. Taylor (@ Judson)

For the second straight game, the 8th ranked Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team lost to Taylor University.   Taylor defeated SSU 72-67 in the first round of the AG Edwards Tournament hosted by Judson College.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Tara Walker and Mandy Deal had 12 points each.  Melanie Brumbaugh led Taylor with 21 points and 13 rebounds.  Liz Plass had 16 points and Jenny Dawes added 14 points for Taylor.  As a team, Shawnee State shot 50% (27-54) from the field including 33% (4-12) from beyond the arc.  SSU connected on just 9 of 20 attempts from the foul line.  Taylor connected on 27-61 attempts from the field for 44.3%.   Taylor won the rebounding battle 42-30.

 
November 13 vs. Taylor (@ Georgetown)

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, lost to Taylor University 76-65.  Taylor became the first team this season to hold SSU under 40% shooting.  The Bears hit on just 20 of 53 attempts from the field for 37.7%.  Taylor also became the first team this season to shoot better than 50%.  Taylor was 24-46 from the field for 52.2%.  Taylor also beat the Bears on the glass 37-30.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with her second consecutive double-double.  She had 15 points and 12 rebounds to go along with 3 assists and 3 steals.  Shannon Leasure added 13 points.  Tara Walker and Nikki Tucker had 10 points apiece.  Liz Plass led Taylor with 23 points and 7 rebounds.  Lydia Harris chipped in with 15 points.  Katie Madden had 14 points and 8 boards.

 
November 12 vs. Trevecca Nazarene (@ Georgetown)

Shawnee State, rated 8th in NAIA Division II, defeated Trevecca Nazarene 69-62.  Tara Walker led the Bears with a career-high 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas had 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Cassie Hannah tallied her first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.   Ashlie Gilland led Trevecca with 17 points.  Jana Reed had 12 points and 9 rebounds.  Mariska Reed and Kristen Scoggins had 11 and 10 points respectively.  As a team, Shawnee State shot 42.6% (26-61) from the field.  The Bears out rebounded Trevecca 39-28.  Trevecca is the first team to shoot above 40% against the Bears this season.  They connected on 20-49 shots for 40.8%.  SSU was a paltry 1 for 19 from beyond the arc.  

 
November 9 vs. Pikeville

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, rolled over Pikeville College 84-56.  Shannon Leasure led the Bears with 17 points on the night.  Cassie Hannah chipped in with 15 points and 8 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas added 11 points and 12 rebounds.  Kellie Jo Moore was the only player to hit double figures for Pikeville.  She finished the night with 18 points on 9 of 17 shooting.  As a team, Shawnee State connected on 30 of 62 shots from the field for 48.4%.  The Bears were 8 of 18 from beyond the arc for 44.4%.  The Bears defense was strong, holding Pikeville to just 36.7% (22-60) from the field.  SSU out rebounded Pikeville 43-33.

 
November 6 vs. Notre Dame

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, defeated Notre Dame College 85-70 in game 4 of the Shawnee State Wendy's Classic.  Cassie Hannah led the Bears with 20 points and 6 rebounds.  Shannon Leasure added 17 points.  Tara Walker had 12 points and 5 boards. Anna  Ramey chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Blazetic had 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Despite serious foul trouble, Tamika Watkins had 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Christine Hastings and Maggie Steadly added 11 points each.  Shawnee State shot 46.6% (34-73) from the field.  Notre Dame was 25-63 for 39.7%.  SSU out rebounded Notre Dame 48-40.  The Bears struggled from the line connecting on just 10 of 20 attempts from the line.  Notre Dame hit 18 of 25 shots from the foul line.

 
November 5 vs. St. Vincent College

Shawnee State, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, defeated St. Vincent College 78-64 in the opening game of the SSU Wendy’s Classic.   Tara Walker led the Bears with 15 points and 9 rebounds on the day.  Shannon Thomas chipped in with 12 point, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Mandy Deal had 11 points to go along with 3 assists and 3 steals.  Shannon Leasure added 10 points and 4 rebounds in her collegiate debut.   Kristen Myers led St. Vincent with 16 points and 6 boards.  Chanell Wade had 14 points and 5 rebounds.  Sarah Rockwell added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the Bearcats.  Shawnee State shot 46.5% (33-71) from the field while holding St. Vincent to 35.6% (21-59) shooting.  Both teams shot poorly from behind the arc.  Shawnee State was 3-15 for 20% and St. Vincent was 2-12 for 16.7%.
