March 13 vs. Tennessee Wesleyan

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 10th in NAIA Division II, defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 76-58 in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament.  Four players scored in double figures for the Bears.  Heather Schilling led the way with 17 points.  Fifteen of those came in the second half.  Ashley See had 15 points off the bench.  Angie Ingram had 12 points and Shannon Thomas added 10 points.  Camey Geiman had 7 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.  Renee Robinson and Monique Herron led Tennessee Wesleyan with 12 points apiece.  Niki Dixon and Amber Cook added 11 points each. 

 
March 1 @ Ohio Dominican

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 10th in NAIA Division II, defeated 15th ranked Ohio Dominican 55-54.  Shawnee State improves to 25-6 on the season and makes their 10th straight trip to the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament.  Ohio Dominican falls to 26-7. Angie Ingram led the Bears with 17 points and 13 rebounds.  Camey Geiman added 14 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.  Heather Schilling had 11 points. Janel Swinehart led Ohio Dominican with 18 points.  Amanda Lewis chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Bears shot 37% (22-60) compared to 33% (19-57) for Ohio Dominican.  SSU grabbed 44 rebounds to ODU’s 34.   

 
February 28 vs. Daemen (@ Ohio Dominican)

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 10th in NAIA Division II, defeated Daemen College 75-67 to advance to the finals of the American Mideast Conference Tournament.  Heather Schilling led all scorers with 19 points on the night.  Shannon Thomas added 14 points.  Camey Geiman recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  She also had 4 assists and 5 steals. Angela Tylec led Daemen with 16 points.  Joanna Daugenti and Allison Depp had 15 points apiece. Shawnee State shot just 36% (28-78) compared to 49% (27-55) for Daemen.  However, the Bears’ defense forced an astounding 32 turnovers in the contest.  The Bears committed just 12 turnovers and recorded 15 assists. 

 
February 25 vs. Houghton

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 10th in NAIA Division II, knocked off Houghton College 70-60 in the first round of the AMC Tournament. Five players scored in double figures for the Bears.  Camey Geiman led the way with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists.  Heather Schilling had 14 points and Nikki Tucker had 12 points.  Angie Ingram and Shannon Thomas added 10 points each. Angela Layne led the Highlanders with 24 points and 13 rebounds.  Amanda Sweeney had 12 points.  Former Bear Maggie Unger added 7 points and 6 rebounds. As a team, Shawnee State shot 43% (26-61) from the field.  They connected on 8 of 22 attempts from behind the arc for 36%.  Houghton connected on 22 of 55 attempts for 40%.  However, they connected on just 19% (4-21) of their attempts from beyond the arc.  Shawnee State won the battle of the boards 39-36. 

 
February 21 @ Cedarville

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, lost to 4th ranked Cedarville University 69-56. Cedarville breaks SSU’s streak of seven straight conference championships. Heather Schilling and Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 13 points apiece on the night.  Schilling, a sophomore guard, became the 15th player in SSU history to reach 1,000 points for her career.  Camey Geiman and Anna Ramey added 9 points each for SSU.  Kirsten Rossotti led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points and 11 rebounds on the night.  Kari Flunker added 21 points for Cedarville.  As a team, the Bears shot 43% (18-42) from the field.  Cedarville shot 42% (25-60) on the night.  Cedarville dominated the boards, grabbing 43 rebounds to Shawnee State’s 23.  Cedarville forced 17 Shawnee State turnovers.

 
February 15 vs. Malone

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 10th in NAIA Division II, drilled Malone College 74-49.  Angie Ingram led the Bears with 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Camey Geiman added 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Heather Schilling and Shannon Thomas had 12 points apiece.  Kim Mast led Malone with 15 points.  Michelle Ling had 11 points and Shauna Masonbrick added 10 points.  As a team, the Bears shot 48% from the field.  The Bears recorded assists on 17 of their 31 field goals in the game.  Shawnee State dominated the glass as they out rebounded Malone 43-29.   

 
February 11 @ Rio Grande

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 10th in NAIA Division II, defeated the University of Rio Grande 65-53.  Heather Schilling led the Bears with 21 points.  She was 7 of 16 from the field including 4 of 8 from behind the 3-point line.  Angie Ingram added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Camey Geiman chipped in with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 1 blocked shot. Tiffany Johnson had 13 points for Rio Grande.  Alkia Fountain added 11 points and 9 rebounds.  Angel Allen and Annie Tucker had 10 points apiece. As a team, the Bears shot 37% from the field compared to 35% for Rio Grande.   As is often the case Bears, they made more free throws than Rio attempted.   SSU was 18 of 29 from the line.  Rio Grande connected on just 10 of 17 attempts from the stripe. 

 
February 6 vs. Cedarville

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 7th in NAIA Division II, lost 65-56 to the 9th ranked Cedarville Yellow Jackets.  Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 17 points on the night.   Angie Ingram and Camey Geiman had 11 points apiece.  Geiman added 15 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals.  Shawnee State’s leading scorer, Heather Schilling, scored just 2 points on 1 of 9 shooting.  She was 0 for 7 from behind the arc.    Kirsten Rosotti, the reigning AMC Player of the Week, led Cedarville with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  Julie Stauffer added 18 points and Kari Flunker had 13 points.  Shawnee State shot 38% from the field compared to 40% for Cedarville.  The Bears hit on just 5 of 22 attempts from behind the 3-point line.  The stat of the game, however, game at the free throw line.  Shawnee State hit just 7 of 17 from the charity stripe while Cedarville cashed in at the stripe as they hit 17 of 22 attempts from the free throw line.   

 
February 1 vs. Tiffin

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 8th in NAIA Division II, defeated Tiffin University 77-57 on Saturday.   Heather Schilling led the Bears with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists on the day.  Ashley See had 13 points, and Shannon Thomas added 10 points. Nicki King led the Dragons with 14 points. Shawnee State overcame a poor shooting night as they connected on just 25 of 71 attempts from the field for 35%.  The Bears defense came through holding Tiffin to 34% shooting and forcing 21 Dragon turnovers. 

 
January 25 @ Urbana

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, got by Urbana University 64-61.  Angie Ingram led the Bears with 23 points and 9 rebounds on the day.  She was 7 of 15 from the field and 9 of 15 from the free throw line.  Heather Schilling had 12 points.  Anna Ramey and Camey Geiman added 11 points each.  Chamika Pitman led Urbana with 19 points.  Magen Boram and Missy Miller had 14 points each.  As a team, the Bears shot 42% (23-55) from the field.  They hit 36% (8-22) from behind the arc.  SSU hit just 53% (10-19) from the free throw line.  Urbana hit 42% from the field (24-57), but just 17% (4-24) from behind the 3-point line.  Urbana dominated the boards grabbing 41 rebounds to the Bears’ 30. 

 
January 23 @ Ohio Dominican

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, knocked off 8th ranked Ohio Dominican 67-55.  Heather Schilling led the Bears with 26 points and 11 rebounds on the night.  She was 9 of 17 from the field including 8 of 12 from beyond the 3-point line.  Angie Ingram had 12 points and 9 rebounds.  Camey Geiman and Shannon Thomas added 10 points apiece.   Amanda Lewis led Ohio Dominican with 15 points.  Becky Richter had 14 points and Sarah Wheeler added 12 points for the Panthers.  Shawnee State overcame 19 turnovers and 12 of 24 shooting from the free throw line to avenge their only league loss of the season.  Ohio Dominican defeated the Bears 61-52 on December 14.  Shawnee State held ODU to 31% (19 – 62) shooting on the night.  The Panthers were 5 of 21 for 24% on 3-point attempts.  Shawnee State connected on 22 of 54 attempts from the field for 41%.  They connected on 11 of 24 attempts beyond the arc for 46%. 

 
January 21 vs. Rio Grande

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, trounced The University of Rio Grande 70-37.  Shannon Thomas led the Bears with 16 points on the night.  Heather Schilling added 14 points and 8 rebounds.  Angie Ingram chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Angel Allen led Rio Grande with 8 points.  As a team, the Bears shot 40% from the field, while holding Rio to just 33% shooting from the field.   SSU out rebounded Rio 46-37.   Shawnee State forced 28 turnovers and scored 28 points on those turnovers. 

 
January 18 @ Malone

The Shawnee State University Women's Basketball Team, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, knocked off Malone College 73-53.  Heather Schilling led five Bears in double figures.  Schilling tallied 17 points and 8 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas and Ashley See had 11 points apiece.  Angie Ingram and Camey Geiman added 10 points each.  Geiman also had 10 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.  Kim Mast led all scorers with 23 points for Malone.  She was the only Pioneer to reach double figures.  As a team, the Bears shot 40% from the field.  The Bears held the Pioneers to 30% shooting for the game. SSU out rebounded Malone 40-34.  Shawnee State's defense forced 22 turnovers including 14 steals.  Shawnee State trailed 19-14 in the first half before going on an 18-5 run to take a 32-24 lead at the 1:42 mark.  Malone would never get closer than 3 the rest of the way.

 
January 14 vs. Wilberforce

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 9th in NAIA Division II, defeated Wilberforce University 62-44 in American Mideast Conference play.   Ashley See led the Bears with 21 points and a career-high13 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas added 18 points and 9 rebounds.  Heather Schilling added 12 points on the night. Darla Finley had 10 points and 13 rebounds for Wilberforce.  Jasmin Jones also had 10 points for the Bulldogs. Shawnee State overcame a cold shooting night.  The Bears hit just 23 of 78 shots for 29.5%.  They hit just 11 of 22 for 50% from the free throw line.  SSU force 25 Wilberforce turnovers and held the Bulldogs to 33% shooting from the field. 

 
January 11 @ Walsh

The Shawnee State Women’s Basketball Team defeated the Cavaliers of Walsh University Saturday afternoon in an American Mideast Conference match up.  Shawnee defeated Walsh 68-66.  Camey Geiman led the Bears with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 steals.  Shannon Thomas added 12 points.  Anna Ramey chipped in with 11 points for the Bears.  Shawnee State trailed by 8 points with 2:17 remaining.  The Bears tied the game on two free throws by Ashley See with 24 seconds on the clock.  Walsh turned the ball over with 18 seconds left.  Camey Geiman hit a basket as time expired to give the Bears their first and only lead of the game.

 
January 7 vs. Mt. Vernon

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 12th in NAIA Division II, defeated Mt. Vernon Nazarene University 75-62.  Heather Schilling led the Bears with 17 points on the night.  Angie Ingram had 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Anna Ramey, Shannon Thomas, and Ashley See scored 10 points apiece. Susan Adams led all scorers with 21 points on 5 of 8 shooting from behind the arc.  She also pulled down 10 rebounds.  Jenni Davis had 16 points and Melanie Gosnell added 12 points. As a team, the Bears shot 43% from the field.  The Bears forced 19 turnovers and scored 26 points off those Cougar miscues. 

 
January 4 @ Tiffin

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, defeated Tiffin University 60-51. Shawnee State led by as much as 17 early in the second half.  Tiffin went on a 24-7 run to tie the game at 47 with 8:51 remaining.  Neither team would score for the next 3 1/2 minutes.  Heather Schilling hit a jumper at the 5:17 mark, and the Bears would not relinquish the lead.  Schilling led all scorers with 20 points on the night.  Angie Ingram had 16 points and 10 rebounds.  As a team, the Bears hit a meager 35% from the field.  They held Tiffin to just 31% shooting.  SSU out rebounded the Dragons 48-34.

 
December 29 vs. Seton Hill

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, demolished Seton Hill University 94-44. The Bears held a 51-20 half time lead as they hit 71% (20-28) from the field in the period, while holding Seton Hill to 25% shooting. Shawnee finished the game shooting 62% (38-61) from the field.  The Bears also handed out 21 assists compared to Seton Hills 6.  Shawnee was led by Heather Schilling with 18 points on 4 of 5 three-point shooting.  Ashley See  had 16 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the field.  Natalie Gill came off the bench to score 12 points and dish out 3 assists.  Camey Geiman had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals for the bears.

 
December 17 vs. Urbana

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, ended a two-game skid by defeating AMC foe, Urbana University, 65-55.  Angie Ingram led the Bears with a season-high 21 points and 11 rebounds.  Shannon Thomas added a career-high 16 points, while Heather Schilling threw in 15 points.  Camey Geiman nearly recorded a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.  She also added 3 assists and 4 steals in 40 minutes of play.  Magen Borman led Urbana in the losing effort with 17 points and 13 rebounds.  Chemika Pitman added 15 points. As a team, the Bears shot just 38% (24-63) from the field.  Shawnee State held a huge advantage from the free throw line, connecting on 13 of 22 attempts compared to 2 of 2 for the Blue Knights.  Shawnee State forced 19 Urbana turnovers, with 12 of those coming on steals. 

 
December 14 vs. Ohio Dominican

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball team fell to the Panthers of Ohio Dominican University 61-52.  Ashley See led the Bears with 14 points.  Angie Ingram came off the bench to score 11 points and grab 8 rebounds.  Nikki Tucker added 10 points and 4 assists. Sarah Wheeler led ODU with 15 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field.  Amanda Lewis added 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Ohio Dominican out rebounded Shawnee 49 to 31.  As a team, Ohio Dominican shot 40% from the field, while Shawnee shot 31.7%.  Shawnee forced 27 Ohio Dominican turnovers, but Shawnee turned the ball over 19 times in the contest. 

 
December 10 @ Georgetown

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, lost to Georgetown College 74-54.  Shawnee State falls to 8-3 on the season. Georgetown, ranked 23rd in NAIA Division I, improves to 7-4. Heather Schilling led the Bears with 14 points and 7 rebounds on the night.  Camey Geiman added 12 points and 6 rebounds. They were the only Bears to reach double figures. Neeley Thomas led Georgetown with 24 points. Andi Johnson had 13 points.  As a team, the Bears shot a very respectable 53.5% from the field as they connected on 23 of 43 attempts. SSU held Georgetown to 43.1% shooting on 25 of 58 attempts. Georgetown’s defense forced 28 Shawnee State turnovers. The Bears shot just 6 of 17 (35.3%) from the free throw line.

 
December 7 vs. Walsh

Shawnee State University, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, defeated Walsh University 64-51.  Camey Geiman led the Bears with 17 points and 10 rebounds on the day.  She connected on 5 of 8 attempts from the line including 4 of 6 from behind the arc.  She also recorded 4 assists and 3 steals in the contest.  Ashley See added 13 points on 3 of 5 shooting from the field and 7 of 7 from the free throw line.  Ashley Norman led the Cavaliers with 14 points.  Lindsey Becherucci chipped in 10 points and hauled down 7 rebounds.  As a team the Bears shot 42.9% from the field compared to just 38.2% for the Cavaliers.  Shawnee State forced Walsh into 21 turnovers on the day.  Thirteen of those came off of steals.  The one advantage Walsh had in the game was on the boards.  Walsh out rebounded SSU 38-28. 

 
December 3 @ Wilberforce

Shawnee State University, ranked 5th in NAIA Division II, defeated Wilberforce University 81-60 to open up AMC play.  Ashley See led the Bears with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in the contest.  Heather Schilling added 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Camey Geiman had 13 points.  Kanisha Coward led Wilberforce with 13 points.  Darla Finley was the only other Bulldog in double figures.  She also grabbed 8 rebounds. As a team, the Bears shot 55.8% (29-52) from the field.  They held Wilberforce to just 41.5% from the field.  SSU tallied assists on 20 of their 29 field goals.  Shawnee State held a huge advantage from the free throw line, making 17 of 25 attempts.  Wilberforce connected on only 4 of 11 tries from the charity stripe. 

 
November 24 vs. Freed-Hardeman

Shawnee State University, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, defeated Free-Hardeman University 82-71 in the final game of the Wendy’s SSU Classic.  The win avenges an 81-65 loss to Freed-Hardeman earlier in the season and improves the Bears’ record to 6-2 on the season.  Freed-Hardeman, ranked 22nd in NAIA Division I, falls to 6-1. Heather Schilling led the Bears with 29 points and 8 rebounds on the day.  She shot 8 of 20 from the field, including 4 of 10 from behind the 3-point line.  She was 9 of 11 from the free throw line.  Anna Ramey had a career-high 18 points and fellow freshman, Shannon Thomas, added 13 points.  Camey Geiman chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists in the contest. Mary Beth Berry led the Lions with 28 points.  Jessica Woodard had 11 points and Heather Walling added 10 points in the loss. As a team, the Bears shot 46.8% (29-62) from the field.  SSU dished out 18 assists and out rebounded FHU 41-26. 

 
November 23 vs. Indiana Wesleyan

Shawnee State University, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, defeated Indiana Wesleyan University 66-57 on Saturday afternoon in Game 3 of the Wendy’s SSU Classic.  Heather Schilling led the Bears with 24 points on the night.  She shot 10 of 15 from the field including 4 of 8 from behind the arc.  She also had 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  Camey Geiman added 13 points and 9 rebounds.  As a team, the Bears shot 50% from the field.  They held the Wildcats to 42% shooting from the field.  SSU out rebounded IWU by a 33-25 margin.     

 
November 16 vs. Pikeville

The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, defeated Pikeville College 62-57 to capture the 2002 Shawnee State University Invitational Tournament.  Heather Schilling led four Bears in double figures with 14 points.  Nikki Tucker added 13 points.  Freshmen Shannon Thomas and Mandy Wagner each recorded career-highs.  Wagner had 12 points and Thomas added 10 points.  All of Wagner’s points came in the first half, while 8 of Thomas’s points came in the second. Shawnee State’s defense came up big in the game.  The Bears forced 26 Pikeville turnovers.  Seventeen of those came off of steals.  Tucker, Schilling, and Camey Geiman each had 5 steals in the contest.  The tough defense allowed the Bears to overcome a 41-29 deficit on the boards, and a rough offensive night.  SSU shot just 38.1% from the field including 19% from behind the 3-point line. 

 
November 15 vs. Siena Heights

Shawnee State defeated Siena Heights College 84-65 in the first round of the SSU Invitational Tournament.   Camey Geiman led the Bears with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals.  She was seven of nine from the field and seven of eight from the free throw line.  Heather Schilling added 21 points and 6 rebounds.   As a team the Bears shot 46.2% (24-42) from the field while holding Siena Heights to 31.7% (19-60) shooting.   Kim Gullekson led Siena Heights with 23 points and 13 rebounds.  Fourteen of her points came from the foul line. 

 
November 9 vs. Spring Arbor (@ Urbana)
Shawnee State lost to Spring Arbor University 61-55 at the Urbana Classic. Heather Schilling led the Bears with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Mandy Wagner added 10 points. As a team, the Bears hit on just 18 of 61 field goal attempts for 29.5%. Spring Arbor connected on 26 of 50 attempts for 52%. Portia Reilly led Spring Arbor with 19 points. Kristin VanValin added 10 points and 8 rebounds.
 
November 8 vs. St. Francis (@ Urbana)
Shawnee State defeated St. Francis 79-68 at the Urbana Classic.  Camey Geiman led the Bears with 19 points and 5 rebounds on the day.  Freshmen Shannon Thomas and Mandy Wagner had career-highs of 15 and 14 points respectively.  The Bears connected on 50% of their shots from the field including 8 of 19 from behind the 3-point line.
 
November 2 @ Freed-Hardeman
The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, lost to Freed-Hardeman 81-65. Freed-Hardeman is ranked 22nd in NAIA Division I. Anna Ramey and Nikki Tucker led the Bears with 13 points apiece. Camey Geiman added 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Overall, the Bears shot 43% from the field. However, they were just 2 of 12 for 17% from behind the 3-point arc. Freed-Hardeman shot 28 of 46 (61%) from the field including 12 of 20 (60%) from 3-point range.  Jessica Woodard led Freed-Hardeman with 17 points. Staley Bullard added 14 points for the Lions.
 
November 1 vs. Cumberland (TN) @ Freed-Hardeman
The Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team, ranked 6th in NAIA Division II, opened the 2002-2003 season with an 80-66 win over Cumberland University at the Freed-Hardeman Invitational.  Camey Geiman led the Bears with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Heather Schilling added 18 points and 5 assists. Nikki Tucker added 13 points, as did freshman Jeanna Diamond. Freshman Anna Ramey had 10 points in her Bears debut.  Sheree Driver led Cumberland with 13 points, while Francesca Debondt had 11 points.
