CATHOLIC'S MORROW SIGNS WITH BEARS

Newark Catholic
High School's Abbi Morrow has signed a letter of intent to
continue her volleyball career at Shawnee State University
under Head Coach Kristy Kamer.
Morrow, an
outside hitter, lettered for the Greenwave two years and
guided them to a 55-5 record. As a senior, she accumulated
199 kills with an 88% attack percentage and 41% kill
percentage. She also tallied 195 digs, 40 blocks and 17
service aces.
"We are very
excited to have Abbi as a part of our volleyball program,"
states Head Coach Kristy Kamer. "Not only will Abbi be an
asset to our program, but she will also be an asset to the
university. She comes from a strong program at Newark
Catholic and knows what it takes to get the job done and
knows what it is like to have that monkey on your back where
everyone is gunning for you day in and day out."
While attending
Shawnee State, Morris plans to study Occupational Therapy.
Shawnee State competes
in the Mid-South Conference. In their inaugural season (2010) in
the Mid-South, the volleyball team captured the regular season
East Division Championship and won the Conference Tournament
Championship. Shawnee State also made their third
consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearance.

BEARS PICK UP ZELICH AS MEMBER OF
2010 RECRUITING CLASS

Paige Zelich from
Central Crossing High School has signed a letter of intent to
play volleyball for the Bears as a member of the 2011 recruiting
class.
The outside hitter
is a two-year letter winner in volleyball for Comets.
As a freshman she had the most kills and, as a senior, was named Best Offensive
Player. She also earned Honorable Mention
all-conference during her senior season.
"We are extremely excited that Paige has decided to attend SSU,"
said Bears' Head Coach Kristy Kamer. "Paige caught our eye the
first time we saw her play as a junior. She has been working
extremely hard and changed clubs to help her out more. We cannot
wait to get her here full time with the team."
Zelich plans to study Physical Therapy while attending Shawnee
State.

NORTHWEST'S
SCARBERRY SIGNS TO PLAY BASKETBALL AND VOLLEYBALL AT SSU

Northwest High
School's Devan Scarberry has signed a letter of intent to be
a two-sport athlete playing volleyball and basketball at
Shawnee State University.
Scarberry was a 12-sport letter winner for the Mohawks,
earning four-varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and
softball.
During her
volleyball career at Northwest she was named All-SOC and
all-district four times. As a senior, she led the team
in kills, assists, serving percentage and set percentage.
"We are excited
to add Devan to the Shawnee State Volleyball Program," said
SSU Volleyball Head Coach Kristy Kamer. "She has been
working hard to improve her game and get stronger and will
add depth to our team."
In basketball,
Scarberry also earned All-SOC and all-district honors four
times.
While attending
Shawnee State, she plans on majoring in Education.

in the Mid-South Conference. In their inaugural season (2010) in
the Mid-South, the volleyball team captured the regular season East Division
Championship and won the Conference Tournament Championship.
Shawnee State also made their third consecutive NAIA
National Tournament appearance. In basketball, the Bears
finished runner-up in the Mid-South and earned an automatic
bid to the NAIA Division I National Tournament.

SHAWNEE
STATE SIGNS GREENWOOD'S ATTIG

Greenwood High
School's Chryssi Attig has signed a letter of intent to continue
her volleyball career at Shawnee State University.
Attig was a two-year varsity letter winner at Greenwood High
School in Bowling Green, Kentucky. During her career, she
was named All-State First Team Academic and All-District First
Team. She was also named to the All-Region Tournament Team
as well as WBKO Athlete of the Week. Attig set school
record for perfect passes in a career, perfect passes per match
in a season, and perfect passes in a match.
"We are extremely excited to have Chryssi join us here at SSU,"
said Head Coach Kristy Kamer. "To watch Chryssi play
volleyball is amazing. She plays with so much heart and
desire not only to help herself get better but also her
teammates. Chryssi has worked extremely hard to improve
her game and it definitely showed during her senior year.
She will bring some more depth to our back row next season."
While attending Shawnee State, Attig will be studying Sport
Management.

BEARS
PICK UP TRANSFER

The Shawnee
State volleyball team picked up transfer Holly Tobias for
the 2011 season.
Tobias transfers
to Shawnee State from Edison Community College where she has
guided the Chargers to a 38-19 record in two years. As
a Charger she led the team as a freshman averaging 3.09
kills per game. During her sophomore senior she led
the team in hitting percentage and blocks. She earned
1st Team OCCAC and 1st Team All-Region honors.
She hails from
Covington, Ohio where she played four years for the
Buccaneers. During her career at Covington High School
she helped guide the Buccaneers to an overall record of
60-34. She was named CCC Player of the Year as a
senior and earned 1st Team All-CCC honors twice.
"We are
extremely excited that Holly has decided to continue her
education here at Shawnee State," said SSU Head Coach Kristy
Kamer. "I think Holly will make a great impact on our
program. She has a great work ethic and can place the
ball almost anywhere you want her to."
While attending Shawnee State, Tobias plans on studying
Exercise Science.

ADENA'S
KELSEY BIELANOW SIGNS WITH SSU

Adena High School's middle hitter Kelsey Bielanow has
signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career
for Shawnee State University.
Bielanow was a
four-year letter winner at Adena. She guide the
Warriors to an overall record of 74-9 and three conference
championships during her freshman, sophomore, and junior
season as she has accumulated 677 kills, 187 digs, 47
assists and 44 service aces.
"We are excited to
get Kelsey down on campus to start playing," said Head Coach
Kristy Kamer. "Her work ethic and foot work is good
and I don't think she will have a hard time adjusting to the
college level. Kelsey comes from a great program at
Adena under Laura Smith and she knows what it takes to get
things done. Kelsey has decided not to play basketball
and is playing club ball through the whole winter so she can
get ready for the next level."
Bielanow has also
lettered in basketball three years and track once while at
Adena.
Shawnee State just
competed in their first season in the Mid-South Conference,
where they capture the regular season East Division
Championship and won the Conference Tournament Championship.
Shawnee State also made their third consecutive NAIA
National Tournament appearance. |
