November 14 vs. Walsh (@ AMC Tournament)

Shawnee State lost to Walsh University 30-22, 30-12, 30-20 in the second round of the AMC Tournament.  Walsh, ranked 15th in the NAIA, improves to 30-3 on the season.  Shawnee State closes out the season 23-12.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 8 kills, 11 digs, and 2 blocks.  Dancin Gastelum added 5 kills, 9 digs, and 2 blocks.  Erin Spriggs had 20 assists in the match.

 
November 14 vs. Geneva (@ AMC Tournament)

Shawnee State University defeated Geneva College 30-27, 19-30, 30-25, 30-27 in the opening round of the AMC Tournament.  It was the first ever conference tournament win for the Bears.  Kristen Jones led the Bears with 18 kills and 3 blocks in the match.  Mandy Goin added 10 kills, 6 aces, 21 digs, and 3 blocks.  Erin Spriggs dished out 41 assists and had 5 blocks. 

 
November 8 vs. Ohio Dominican (@ Walsh)

Shawnee State defeated Ohio Dominican 30-20, 33-31, 31-29.  Kristen Jones led the Bears with 16 kills.  Mandy Goin added 15 kills and 9 digs.  Erin Spriggs had 23 assists and 11 digs.  Elizabeth Eby had 4 aces in the match giving her a school record 63 on the season.

 
November 8 @ Walsh
Shawnee State lost to Walsh  30-18, 30-28, 30-18. Mandy Goin led the Bears against 14th ranked Walsh with 9 kills and 4 blocks in the match.  Kristen Jones added 8 kills, 10 digs, and 2 blocks.   Erin Spriggs dished out 21 assists.  Cheryl Ziser added 17 digs.  
 
November 6 vs. Mt. State

Shawnee State defeated Mountain State University 30-22, 30-21, and 30-16 on senior night. The match started late due to the late arrival of Mountain State University. Their trip had been delayed over 2 hours due to a chemical spill on I-64 outside Huntington, W.V. Leading the Bears were seniors Mandy Goin and Tabby Gullett. Goin recorded 17 kills in the match, while Gullett added 28 assists to her career total 1,739, which brings her career total, a school record to 1,767 assists. Junior Chelsey Eldridge contributed 10 kills, while Erin Spriggs added to her single season assist record with 26 in the victory. Freshman Elizabeth Eby served up 4 aces in the Bears victory. Kara Miller and Carly Cameron had 10 and 9 digs respectively.

 
November 4 @ Mt. Vernon Nazarene

Shawnee State lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene 30-26, 30-22, 30-24.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 14 kills on the night.  Kara Miller added 10 kills and 12 digs.  Tabby Gullett and Erin Spriggs dished out 12 assists each.  Cheryl Ziser chipped in with 8 assists and 15 digs.

 
November 1 @ Kenyon

Shawnee State picked up its 20th win of the season with a win over Kenyon College.  The Bears won by scores of 30-23, 30-24, 25-30, 30-11.  The win marks just the second time the Bears have won 20 games in a season.  The last time occurred in 2000 when SSU finished 23-14.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 15 kills and 5 blocks.  Dancin Gastelum had 14 kills and 18 digs.  Kristen Jones added 10 kills and 3 blocks.  Erin Spriggs dished out 40 assists and had 15 digs.   Cheryl Ziser had 15 digs on the day giving her a single season school record 353 on the season.  Doris Staler set the previous high of 343 in 2001.  

 
October 28 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State University rolled over the University of Rio Grande by scores of 30-15, 30-24, 30-15.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 12 kills and 8 digs on the night.  Dancin Gastelum and Elizabeth Eby had 11 kills each.  Kristen Jones added 9 kills, 11 digs, and 4 blocks.  Cheryl Ziser chipped in with 5 service aces and 14 digs.  Erin Spriggs dished out 20 assists and Tabby Gullett had 17 assists.  

 
October 25 vs. Urbana
Shawnee State defeated Urbana University by scores of 29-31, 30-23, 30-19, 30-28.  Mandy Goin had 17 kills and 17 digs in match.  Dancin Gastelum and Kristen Jones added 15 kills apiece.  Erin Spriggs dished out 41 assists.
 
October 25 vs. Malone
Shawnee State picked up just its second win ever against Malone College by scores of 31-29, 30-28, 30-28.  Mandy Goin had 10 kills and Dancin Gastelum and Kristen Jones added 9 kills each.   Elizabeth Eby continued her hot serving with 6 aces.  Erin Spriggs and Tabby Gullett had 19 and 16 assists respectively. 
 
October 21 vs. Central State

Shawnee State wasted little time defeating Central State University by scores of 30-17, 30-7, 30-10.  The Bears set two new teams records in the victory. Elizabeth Eby recorded 13 Aces for a new single game record, and the Bears set a team record with 30 Aces. Leading the Bears in assists both Erin Spriggs, and Tabby Gullett recorded 14 each. Mandy Goin also added 10 kills in the victory.  

 
October 18 @ Tiffin
Shawnee State defeated Tiffin University (9-16, 2-9 AMC) by scores of 24-30, 30-22, 28-30, 30-23, 15-13.  Mandy Goin led the way with 20 kills.  She added 28 digs and 4 service aces.  Kristen Jones added 18 kills, 2 blocks and 11 digs.  Kara Miller had 13 kills and an SSU single-match record 31 digs.  Erin Spriggs tallied 34 assists and Tabby Gullett added 31 assists.  
 
October 17 @ Malone

Shawnee State lost to Malone College (23-4, 7-3 AMC) by scores of 32-30, 30-19, 27-30, 25-30, 11-15.  SSU led 26-19 in the third game before Malone went on an 11-1 run to close out the game.  The Bears were unable to recover from the melt down and lost the next two games.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 20 kills on the night.  Kristen Jones added 12 kills and 5 blocks.  Tabby King and Erin Spriggs dished out 31 and 24 assists respectively. 

 
October 11 vs. Mt. Vernon

The Shawnee State University Volleyball Team lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene by scores of 30-17, 30-24, 30-21.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 16 kills, 7 digs, and 1 block on the afternoon.  Kristen Jones added 10 kills.  Dancin Gastelum and Kara Miller had 11 digs apiece.  Erin Spriggs dished out 34 assists in the match. Spriggs broke SSU’s single season assist record in the first game of the match.  Casey Smith set the prior record of 714 in 1999.  With 11 regular season matches to play, Spriggs has already totaled 740. 

 
October 9 vs. Ohio Valley

Shawnee State University Women’s Volleyball team had little trouble defeating the Lady Scots of Ohio Valley College by scores of 30-12, 30-10, 30-19. Erin Spriggs led the way for the Bears with 20 assists. Tabby Gullett added 19 assists. Kristen Jones had 12 kills, while Mandy Goin added 10 in the victory.  

 
October 7 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State University the University of Rio Grande by scores of 30-27, 30-27, 30-22.  The Bears were lead by Dancin Gastelum with 18 digs. Mandy Goin added 15 kills, and Kristin Jones had 10 kills in the victory. Erin Spriggs added 26 assists.  

 
October 4 vs. Tiffin

Shawnee State defeated Tiffin University by scores of 30-26, 34-32, 30-28.  Shawnee State trailed 21-10 in the final game before mounting a comeback to close out the match in 3 games.  Shawnee State went on a 14-3 run to tie the game at 24.  The teams battled back and forth before SSU won 30-28. Mandy Goin led the Bears with 15 kills, 3 blocks, and 9 digs.  Kristen Jones had 11 kills.  Dancin Gastelum added 25 digs.  Erin Spriggs dished out 40 assists.   

 
October 2 @ Kentucky Christian

Shawnee State defeated Kentucky Christian College on Thursday evening.  SSU rolled over KCC by scores of 30-19, 30-6, 30-13. Kristen Jones led the Bears with 11 kills and 3 blocks.  Mandy Goin had 10 kills and 8 digs.  Dancin Gastelum added 12 digs.  Erin Spriggs dished out 32 assists.

 
September 30 @ Mt. State

The Shawnee State University Volleyball Team snapped a two game losing skid with win over Mt. State.  The Bears won by scores of 30-27, 30-18, 30-17.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 20 kills on the night.  Dancin Gastelum added 11 kills.  Kara Miller had 11 digs.  Erin Spriggs dished out 43 assists.

 
September 27 vs. Cedarville

Shawnee State University Women’s Volleyball team was defeated by Cedarville University, 30-15, 30-17, 30-17.  Kara Miller led the Bears with 7 kills and 12 digs. Mandy Goin added 7 kills and 9 digs. Kristin Jones and Cheryl Ziser both had 4 kills in the loss. Tabby Gullet who already holds the career record for assists added 12 more to her total.

 
September 26 vs. Walsh

Shawnee State University Women’s Volleyball team was defeated by #14 Walsh University 30-22, 30-21, 30-21.  Kristen Jones led the Bears with 7 kills. Kara Miller and Cheryl Ziser both had 9 digs each. Mandy Goin recorded 6 kills, 6 digs, 2 blocks, and 2 service aces. Tabby Gullet led the Bears in assists with 10. 

 
September 25 vs. Urbana

The Shawnee State University Volleyball Team picked up its first conference win with a 3-game victory over Urbana University.  Kristen Jones led the Bears' attack with 16 kills, 5 blocks, and 8 digs.  Mandy Goin added 10 kills and 11 digs.  Dancin Gastelum had 16 digs.  Erin Spriggs dished out 33 assists on the night.

 
September 23 @ Central State

The Shawnee State University Volleyball Team rolled over Central State University by scores of 30-9, 30-15, 30-13.  Kristen Jones led the Bears with 10 kills in the match.  Mandy Goin chipped in with 9 kills.  Cheryl Ziser and Dancin Gastelum had 9 and 8 digs respectively.  Erin Spriggs dished out 26 assists.

 
September 20 vs. Notre Dame (@ North-South Challenge)

The Bears defeated Notre Dame College (3-17) by scores of 30-25, 26-30, 30-24, 30-22 in the second game Saturday.  Dancin Gastelum led SSU with 15 kills and 16 digs.  Mandy Goin added 12 kills.  Tabby Gullett tallied a season-high 30 assists.  Erin Spriggs added 24 assists.  

 
September 20 vs. Roberts Wesleyan (@ AMC North-South Challenge)
SSU knocked off Roberts Wesleyan (13-3) in the opener on Saturday by scores of 27-30, 30-22, 30-27, 30-20.  Kristen Jones had 17 kills in the match.  Mandy Goin added 16 kills.  Dancin Gastelum had 12 kills and 14 digs.  Cheryl Ziser notched 21 digs. Erin Spriggs dished out 27 assists and Tabby Gullett had 25 assists.   
 
September 19 vs. St. Vincent (@ AMC North-South Challenge)
Shawnee State defeated St. Vincent College (9-5) by scores of 30-26, 30-21, 25-30, 30-20 in the nightcap on Friday.  Mandy Goin once again led the way for SSU.  She had 27 kills, 15 digs, and 2 blocks.  Kristen Jones added 16 kills.  Erin Spriggs had 30 assists and Tabby Gullett added 29 assists. 
 
September 19 vs. Daemen (@ AMC North-South Challenge)
Shawnee State lost to Daemen College (8-4) by scores of 28-30, 30-27, 31-29, 21-30, 12-15 on Friday evening.  All five of the Bears’ losses this season have been in 5-game matches.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 20 kills, 3 blocks, and 11 digs in the match.  Dancin Gastelum added 13 kills and 9 digs.  Erin Spriggs tallied 47 assists.   
 
September 16 @ Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State lost a 5-game match for the fourth time this season.  SSU lost to Ohio Dominican University by scores of 30-22, 22-30, 24-30, 30-28, 22-24.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 17 kills, 16 digs, and 5 blocks.  Dancin Gastelum added 11 kills, 21 digs, and 3 blocks.  Erin Spriggs had 43 assists in the match.

 
September 11 @ Cedarville

Shawnee State University very nearly had its first ever win over American Mideast Conference power, Cedarville University, on Thursday evening.  The Bears took the Jackets to five games falling 20-30, 30-22, 30-24, 25-30, 9-15.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 21 kills, 15 digs, and 2 blocks.  Kristen Jones added 8 kills, 8 blocks, and 20 digs.  Dancin Gastelum chipped in with 8 kills and a career-high 25 digs.  Erin Spriggs dished out 44 assists.

 
September 9 vs. Wilmington

Shawnee State defeated Wilmington College by scores of 30-32, 33-31, 30-27, and 30-21.  Kristen Jones led the Bears offensively with 16 kills.  Kara Miller, Dancin Gastelum, and Mandy Goin each had 13 kills.  Miller added 18 digs and Goin had 17 digs.  Erin Spriggs dished out 58 assists. 

 
September 6 vs. Siena Heights
SSU defeated Siena Heights by scores of 30-25, 30-24, 12-30, 30-20.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 14 kills and 5 blocks.  Cheryl Ziser added 13 kills and 16 digs.  Dancin Gastelum had 12 kills and 17 digs.  Erin Spriggs tallied 46 assists.  Spriggs had 172 assists over the 4-game tournament at Defiance.  She was named to the All-Tournament team.
 
September 6 vs. Earlham
Shawnee State defeated Earlham College 30-16, 30-17, 30-23.  Mandy Goin led the team with 11 kills.  Kara Miller had 8 kill and 8 aces.  Erin Spriggs had 28 assists in the match.
 
September 5 vs. Siena Heights
Shawnee State played its second 5-game match of the day in a 27-30, 30-19, 32-34, 30-22, 9-15 loss to Siena Hieghts.  Mandy Goin led the Bears with 23 kills.  Dancin Gastelum added 11 kills and 9 digs.  Cheryl Ziser had 8 kills and 16 digs.
 
September 5 vs. Illinois College
Shawnee State lost the opening game of the Defiance Invitational to Illinois College by scores of 22-30, 30-28, 21-30, 30-28, 12-15.  Kara Miller led the Bears with a career-high 16 kills.  She also added 17 digs.  Mandy Goin had 15 kills and 14 digs.  Dancin Gastelum added 13 kills.  Erin Spriggs dished out 55 assists on the night.
 
September 2 vs. Kentucky Christian

Shawnee State opened the 2003 season by defeating Kentucky Christian College by scores of 30-7, 30-11, 30-16.  Kristen Jones led the team with 8 kills, 8 aces, and 6 digs.  Dancin Gastelum added 6 kills and Chelsey Eldridge had 5 kill on the night.  As a team, the Bears tallied 28 service aces.  Erin Spriggs dished out 18 assists in her Bears debut.
