WESTERN BROWN'S ATTINGER SIGNS WITH BEARS
Western Brown High School Sam Attinger has signed a letter of intent to play softball for Shawnee State University.  She is the eighth member of the 2010 recruiting class.

Attinger earned four varsity letters as short stop at Western Brown.  Her senior year she earned 1st Team All-SBAAC and 1st team all-district honors and tallied a .413 batting average.  As a junior, Attinger compiled a .365 batting average.

Attinger also lettered three times in basketball at Western Brown High School.

While attending Shawnee State, Attinger will be majoring in Athletic Training.

 
SSU SIGNS DAWSON-BRYANT'S NANCE
Dawson-Bryant High School's Abby Nance has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Shawnee State University.  She is the ninth member of the Bears' 2010 recruiting class.

Nance was a four-year letter winner in softball at Dawson-Bryant.  She earned All-OVC honors four times and all-district recognition three times. 

She also lettered four years in basketball and volleyball and twice in track.

Nance will studying Nursing while attending Shawnee State University.

 

SOUTH POINT STANDOUT ERICKA LEIGHTY SIGNS WITH SSU
South Point High School standout Ericka Leighty has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Shawnee State University.  She is the seventh member of the Bears 2010 recruiting class.

Ericka is a four-year starter at South Point, where she played short stop the last three years.  She has accumulated a career batting average of .475 and has recorded 87 stolen bases.  As senior, Ericka is batting .489 and has five homeruns on the season.  She has earned All-OVC and All-district honors four times in softball. She was also named District Player of the Year in volleyball.

“Everything about Ericka is on the upside,” said SSU Head Coach Ralph Cole.  “She has the opportunity to lead off for us and be an impact player from the beginning.”

Ericka will be studying Health Administration while at Shawnee State University.  
 

SSU SIGNS FOUR LOCAL PLAYERS FOR 2010 SEASON
The Shawnee State softball team has signed four local players to continue their softball careers at Shawnee State for the 2010 season. 

Jamie Clevenger, a center fielder from Wheelersburg High School, was a four-year letter winner in softball.  She has accumulated a career batting average of .360 and was a twice named All-SOC. 

Joining Clevenger is teammate Danielle Hall.  Hall, a 3rd baseman, lettered four-times in softball.  Clevenger and Hall both helped lead their team to four SOC Championships and to an overall record of 90-17 over their four years at Wheelersburg.

Cami Groves, a pitcher and 1st baseman from Clay High School, earned 1st Team SOC recognition twice.  She helped lead Clay to Regional Championship twice and to the State semi-finals as a sophomore.  She also is a four-year letter winner in volleyball and a three-year letter winner in basketball.  She has also earned all-district honors in volleyball twice.  

Ali Thompson, a pitcher from Green High School, was named SOC Player of the Year twice.  She earned 1st Team All-Ohio recognition as a junior and honorable mention All-Ohio as a sophomore.  She earned 1st Team All-SOC and 1st Team all-district honors two times.    

 
 
SSU SIGNS ROCK HILL'S DeAUTREMONT
SEPTEMBER 5, 2008

Rock Hill High School’s Jazel DeAutremont has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Shawnee State University.  Jazel is the second member of the 2009-2010 recruiting class.

DeAutremont is a four-year varsity letter winner in softball at Rock Hill High School.  She has earned 1st Team All-OVC recognition twice and 2nd Team All-District honors once.  She helped lead her team to a 20-1 record and an OVC Championship her sophomore season.  DeAutremont also earned four varsity letters and 1st Team All-OVC honors in volleyball. 

“Jazel is a quality player that will make an immediate impact at the collegiate level,” said Head Coach Ralph Cole.  “Her work ethic and attitude fits well into our system.”

Shawnee State competes in the American Mideast Conference.  The Bears finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 20-19.  

 
GREEN'S BARRETT SIGNS WITH SHAWNEE STATE
MAY 26, 2008

The Shawnee State University Softball Team announced the signing of Green High School’s Abby Barrett.  Barrett, a junior infielder, is the first commitment to Shawnee State’s 2009-2010 recruiting class. 

Barrett was named 1st Team All-SOC and 1st Team All-District as a freshman and sophomore.  She was 2nd Team All-Ohio as a freshman and 1st Team All-Ohio as a sophomore. 

 “Abby can flat out play,” said Shawnee State head coach Ralph Cole.  “She’s a tremendous talent in the field and at the plate.  She was being looked at by some big time programs, and we’re thrilled she’s decided to stay close to home and play for Shawnee State.” 

Shawnee State competes in the American Mideast Conference.  The Bears just completed the 2008 season with an overall record of 20-19.
