SHAWNEE STATE SIGNS CRESTLINE'S SALVATI
Crestline High School's Rose Salvati has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Shawnee State University.  She is the third commitment for the Bears for the 2011 season.

Salvati is a four-year pitcher for Crestline High School.  Over her four-year career she has helped the Bulldog's to a 96-26 record, including a 27-4 record as a senior.

“Rose will be counted on to share the pitching load for us next season,” said Head Coach Ralph Cole.  “We are very excited to get such a quality player.  I look for Rose to be an impact player for us right away.”

In 2011 Shawnee State will compete in its first season in the Mid-South Conference.  Last season Shawnee State softball compiled a 28-24 record while winning its ninth conference title. 

 
YATES SIGNS TO PLAY SOFTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL AT SHAWNEE STATE
Adena High School's Kirsti Yates has signed a letter of intent to play softball and volleyball at Shawnee State.  She is the second member of the Bears' softball 2011 recruiting class and third member of the volleyball 2010 class. 

Yates is a four-year letter winner in softball at Adena High School.  She is a four-time All-SVC honoree.  She has also earned all-district honors twice and been named honorable mention All-Ohio.  During her senior season she has accumulated a .471 batting average with five homeruns, 30 RBI's, and 13 stolen bases while guiding the Warriors to a 17-3 record.

She is a three-year letter winner in volleyball and has helped lead the Warriors to a 75-9 record during her career.  She earned All-SVC and all-district honors three times and was named All-Ohio as a senior. 

"We are extremely excited to have Kirsti join us," said Head Volleyball Coach Kristy Kamer.  "She is a great young lady that has so much energy.  Kirsti comes from a great program at Adena and she knows what it takes to win."

In 2010-2011 Shawnee State will compete in its first season in the Mid-South Conference.  Last season SSU's volleyball team compiled a 31-6 record and won its first conference title.  SSU softball compiled a 28-24 record while the Bears won its ninth conference title. 

 
BEARS PICK UP FIRST RECRUIT FOR 2011 SEASON
The Shawnee State softball team has signed their first recruit of the 2011 season as Piketon's Holly Brabson has signed a letter of intent.

Brabson is a four-year letter winner as shortstop at Piketon High School.  As a junior, Brabson earned 1st team all-district and All-SVC honors.  She also earned 2nd team all-district honors as well as all-conference honors as a sophomore and freshman.  She has earned the Team Offensive MVP Award three times.  Over her career at Piketon High School, she has accumulated a batting average of .462 with 91 hits, 84 runs scored, 41 walks, 87 stolen bases, 33 RBI's 14 doubles, eight triples, and one homerun.

Brabson has also earned 1st team all-conference honors in track and 2nd team honors in basketball.

"The main reason I chose Shawnee State is that I am getting the opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level," said Brabson.  "I am familiar with the new coaching staff and I am extremely excited and looking forward to playing for Coach Ruby."

Shawnee State will compete in the American Mideast Conference for the 2010 season, then the Bears will compete in the Mid-South Conference beginning in 2011.  Last season, the Bears accumulated a 10-13 record and a 10-10 record in the AMC.
