BEARS PICK UP FIRST RECRUIT FOR 2011 SEASON
The Shawnee State softball team has signed their first
recruit of the 2011 season as Piketon's Holly Brabson has
signed a letter of intent.Brabson
is a four-year letter winner as shortstop at Piketon High
School. As a junior, Brabson earned 1st team
all-district and All-SVC honors. She also earned 2nd
team all-district honors as well as all-conference honors as
a sophomore and freshman. She has earned the Team
Offensive MVP Award three times. Over her career at
Piketon High School, she has accumulated a batting average
of .462 with 91 hits, 84 runs scored, 41 walks, 87 stolen
bases, 33 RBI's 14 doubles, eight triples, and one homerun.
Brabson has also earned 1st team
all-conference honors in track and 2nd team honors in
basketball.
"The main reason I chose Shawnee State is
that I am getting the opportunity to play softball at the
collegiate level," said Brabson. "I am familiar with
the new coaching staff and I am extremely excited and
looking forward to playing for Coach Ruby."
Shawnee State will compete in the American
Mideast Conference for the 2010 season, then the Bears will
compete in the Mid-South Conference beginning in 2011.
Last season, the Bears accumulated a 10-13 record and a
10-10 record in the AMC.
