YATES NAMED MSC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR; SIX BEARS EARN POST SEASON
RECOGNITION

Kirsti Yates was named MSC Freshman of Year and All-Conference
at the conference's banquet on Thursday evening. Fellow
teammates Ericka Leighty, Abbey Barrett, Ali Thompson and Sam
Attinger was named Honorable Mention All-MSC, while Thompson and
Leighty joined Jazel DeAutremont on the MSC All-Academic Team.
Yates, a freshman from Chillicothe, OH, led the team with a .353
batting average, eight doubles, three home runs and a .520
slugging percentage on the season. The first baseman also
tallied 29 runs scores, 36 hits and 17 runs batted in.
Leighty, a sophomore from South Point, OH, led the team with 40
hits, 31 runs scored, two triples and nine stolen bases this
season. On the season, she has also accumulated a .333 batting
average with three doubles.
Barrett, a sophomore from Franklin Furnace, OH, has accumulated
a .303 batting average with 26 runs scored, 30 hits, two
doubles, one triple, two home runs and leads the team with 21
runs batted in.
Thompson, a sophomore from Franklin Furnace, OH, accumulated a
13-6 record on the mound while boasting an earned run average of
3.32, pitching 18 complete games. In 22 appearances, she struck
out 84 against 38 walks.
Attinger, a sophomore from Mt. Orab, OH, posted a .301 batting
average with 17 runs scored, 25 hits, seven doubles and 16 RBI's
on the season.
Leighty, Thompson, and DeAutremont (Ironton, OH) were named to
the MSC All-Academic Team. This honor goes to student-athletes
with a sophomore or higher class ranking and a 3.25 and above
grade point average.

THOMPSON NAMED MSC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Sophomore Ali Thompson (Franklin Furnace, OH) was named
Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of April
11.On the week, Thompson won
three times posting a 1.33 earned run average.
She produced a career-high 14 strikeouts in
the Bears' 2-0 win over West Virginia Tech to open the week. She
added 11 strikeouts in a 7-3 win over Tech and four strikeouts
in a 4-3 complete-game win over Urbana.
Thompson ended the week with 29 strikeouts and
just one walk in 21 innings of work.
On the season, Thompson is 12-5 with a 3.32
earned runs average with 76 strikeouts in 107 2/3 innings of
work. Her 12 wins rank fourth in the Mid-South.
The honor is the first for Thompson this
