2009 Softball

 
SOFTBALL ALUMNI GAME SET FOR OCTOBER 10
The Shawnee State softball program will be having an alumni softball game on Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Boone Coleman Field.  The game will consist of Shawnee State alumni versus the current team.

 

HARMON AND DANIEL TABBED NAIA SCHOLAR ATHLETES
The Shawnee State softball team had two played named NAIA Scholar Athletes; senior Lori Harmon and junior Katie Daniel.  Harmon is a Business Administration major.  Daniel is a Mathematical Science major.  Criteria for being selected an NAIA Scholar Athlete are that the student-athlete must be of junior ranked and carry a 3.5 grade point average or above.

Harmon and Daniel are among 283 NAIA softball players that earned this honor.

FOUR BEARS EARN AMC HONORS
Four SSU softball players earned All-American Mideast Conference honors.  Leading the honorees are 2nd baseball Emily
Fuhrmann and outfielder Ashley Speas as they both were named 2nd Team All-American Mideast Conference.  3rd baseman Cassie Erlenwein and pitcher Lori Harmon earned Honorable Mention All-AMC recognition. 

Fuhrmann, a senior from Lucasville, Ohio leads the team in runs scored with 14.  On the season Emily compiled a batting average of .284 with 21 hits, three doubles, and nine RBI's.

Speas, a junior from Portsmouth, Ohio leads the teams on the season with a.333 batting average, six doubles, and 12 RBI's. She also has accumulated nine runs on 22 hits and one homerun. 

Erlenwein, a freshman from West Portsmouth, Ohio leads the team with a .333 batting average, 123 hits, six doubles, and two triples on the season.  She was second on the team with 11 RBI's and 10 runs scored. 

Harmon, a senior from Symmes Valley, Ohio posted a record of 5-6 and one save on the mound with an ERA of 3.56.  Lori pitched 11 complete games in 12 appearances.  She struck out 42 batters in 73.1 innings pitched against nine walks. At the plate, Lori accumulated a batting average of .238 with two runs scored, 15 hits, three doubles, and seven RBI's.
