Coach Cole took over the softball program in 1992 after serving 2 years as an assistant coach for the Bears.  Since that time, SSU has had one of the most successful softball programs in the NAIA.  

Shawnee State has won  9 conference championships and made 9 National Tournament appearances during Coach Cole's tenure.  Shawnee State was the National Runner-Up in 1997.  Coach Cole has produced 13 NAIA All-Americans over the course of his career as well.  He earned Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1996.  In 15 years at the helm, Coach Cole has posted a record of 460-197, including a conference record of 217-65.
