The Shawnee State University
Softball Team returns 10 players from last season’s 30-13 squad,
including six all-conference honorees. Gone from last year’s
squad is outfielder Tara Walker and catcher Kendra Hull.
Returning this season is 1st
Team All-Conference sophomore pitcher Lori Harmon. Harmon
recorded an 18-8 record with an ERA of 1.94 in 2006. Also
returning to the mound is junior Ashley Keen. She compiled 12-5
record with an ERA of 2.56 last season.
The Bears also return
outfielders Ashley Adkins and Katie Wade, as well as infielders
Emily Fuhrmann, Tammie Jo Coleman, and Ali Hull. Ashley Adkins,
earned 1st Team All-AMC honors last season, as she
compiled a batting average of .351 and led the team with 9 home
runs. 2nd Team All-AMC honoree junior Katie Wade,
posted a .323 batting average and was second on the team with 28
RBI’s last season. Sophomore Emily Fuhrmann, who also earned 1st
Team All-AMC honors, posted a .336 batting average. Junior and
2nd Team All-AMC honoree Tammie Jo Coleman, led the
Bears last season with a .374 batting average. Junior Ali Hull,
who earned honorable mention all-conference recognition, posted
a .296 batting average and had 27 RBI’s last season.
Seniors, Shawntavia Mason and
Tia Walling will get quality time this season. Mason, a utility
player, will be used mostly for running bases. Walling played
in 21 games last season at the outfield position.
Newcomers include catcher Megan
Coomes (Symmes Valley, OH), infielder Deidre Perkins (Franklin
Furnace, OH) and utility players Holly Widder (New Philadelphia,
OH), Ashley Speas (Portsmouth, OH), and Kristi Jarrell
(Springfield, OH). |
