May 3 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State lost a double-header to Ohio Dominican University.  Ohio Dominican won the opener 1-0 behind the pitching of Jessica Jurkovic (10-7).  She allowed just 1 SSU hit, a double by Megan Felts, while striking out 7 and walking 3.  Rhonda Sacks (8-10) was tagged with the loss.  She allowed 1 run on 6 hits.  She struck out 1 and did not surrender a walk.  Katie Moloney shut out the Bears 4-0 in the nightcap.  She allowed just 2 hits while striking out 9.  Rachel Staley (5-5) took the loss.  She allowed 4 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits. 

 
April 27 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State University Softball Team dropped a double-header to The University of Rio Grande.  Shawnee State lost the opener 10-8.  SSU led 5-2 going into the 6th inning when the wheels fell off.  SSU committed a total of 3 errors in the final 2 innings, which led to 8 Rio Grande runs.   Rhonda Sacks (8-9) was tagged with the loss.  She allowed all 10 runs (6 earned) on 10 hits.  SSU committed 5 errors in the game.  Tara Walker was 3-4 in the game.  SSU had 2 hits each from Keri Bennett, Kristi Barka, and Ashley Adkins.  Andrea Lotycz (17-3) picked up the win for Rio Grande.   SSU lost the nightcap 6-3 in 8 innings.  Poor fielding again plagued the Bears as an error in the top of the 8th inning combined with 3 hits led to 3 Rio Grande runs.  Tia Walling coaxed a walk in the bottom of the inning, but the Bears could not mount a serious come back.  Rachel Staley (5-4) was tagged with the loss.  She gave up 6 runs (4 earned) on 11 hits.  Keri Bennett was 2-4 with a run scored.  Stephanie Broccolo (11-7) picked up the win for Rio.

 
April 20 @ Urbana

Shawnee State held form by splitting its sixth straight AMC double-header at Urbana.  Shawnee State won the opener by a score of 1-0.  Rhonda Sacks (8-7) picked up the shutout victory as she scattered 4 hits while striking out two.  Kristi Barka was 2-2 with 2 walks and a run scored.  Tia Walling was 2-3 in the game.  SSU lost the nightcap 7-4.  Rachel Staley worked 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits.  Rhonda Sacks (8-8) was tagged with the loss as she surrendered 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Shawnee State got 2 hits each from Britney Bayless, Megan Felts, and Kat van den Broek.  

 
April 19 vs. Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State University split an American Mideast Conference double-header with Mt. Vernon Nazarene.  Shawnee State won the opener by a score of 8-3.  Rhonda Sacks (7-7) picked up the win.  She allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits.  She did not allow a walk and struck out five.  Tara Walker was 3-3 in the game with 2 doubles and 4 RBI.  Nikki Moore was 2-4 with 2 runs scored.  Keri Bennett and Megan Felts each chipped in with a hit and 2 RBI.  Shannon Rachel (3-5) was tagged with the loss.  Mt. Vernon bounced back with a 2-1 win in the nightcap.  Rachel Staley (5-3) took the loss as she allowed 2 runs on 8 hits.  Mt. Vernon’s Heather Clark (5-5) did not allow a hit until the 5th inning when she surrendered back to back doubles by Tara Walker and Kendra, resulting in the Bears’ only run of the game.

 
April 17 @ Walsh

Shawnee State split a double-header with Walsh University.  SSU lost the opener to Walsh by a score of 2-0.  Rhonda Sacks took the loss as she allowed 2 runs on 7 hits.  She struck out 4 and did not walk a batter.  Keri Bennett was 2-3 in the game.  Megan Felts and Ashley Adkins picked up SSU’s only other hits.  Lindsay Bauer got the win for the Cavaliers.  Shawnee State handed Walsh its only AMC loss of the season with a 4-1 win in the nightcap.  Rachel Staley picked up the win as she allowed just 1 run on 7 hits.  She struck out 4 and did not walk a batter.  Kristi Barka had 2 hits in the game and Tia Walling added a 2-RBI double.  Audrie DeVore was tagged with the loss allowing 4 runs on 8 hits.  She struck out 8 and walked two.

 
April 16 @ Malone

Shawnee State University Softball Team split a double header with Malone College.  SSU won the opening game 5-1.  Rhonda Sacks picked up the win as she allowed 1 run on 6 hits.  She struck out 4 and walked two.  Britney Bayless had 3 hits in the game including 2 doubles.  Kat van den Broek nearly hit for the cycle as she had a single, double, and triple.  Nikki Moore also added 2 hits in the game.   Cori Helm took the loss for Malone.  She allowed 5 runs on 12 hits and 2 walks.  Rachel Staley was tagged with the loss in Game 2.  She allowed 4 runs on 11 hits.  She struck out 4 and did not walk a batter.  Keri Bennett had 2 hits and a stolen base.  Britney Bayless and Kat van den Broek had the only other hits for the Bears.  Kristen Houtz picked up the win for Malone.  She allowed 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 10 and walking two.

 
April 14 @ Cedarville

Shawnee State split a double-header with Cedarville University.   Shawnee State lost the opener by a score of 4-1.  Rhonda Sacks (5-6) took the loss as she allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits through 6.0 innings.  She did not record a strikeout or surrender a base on balls.  Shawnee State managed just 3 hits in the game.  One of those was the 4th homerun of the year by Megan Felts.  Natalie Fox (10-5) picked up the win for Cedarville.  Rachel Staley (4-1) picked up the win in the nightcap as the Bears triumphed 6-1.  Staley allowed 1 unearned run on 7 hits through 7.0 innings.  Allison Smith (8-5) took the loss for Cedarville as she surrendered 6 runs (1 earned) on 10 hits.  Britney Bayless nearly hit for the cycle for the Bears.  She had a single, triple, and homerun while driving in 3 RBI.  Keri Bennett added 2 hits and 2 runs scored for the Bears.   

 
April 3 @ Tiffin

Shawnee State split a double-header with Tiffin University.  SSU lost the opener by a score of 1-0.  For the second straight game, Rhonda Sacks (5-5) was saddled with the loss despite allowing just 1 run.  She allowed just 2 hits and 1 base on balls while striking out four.  SSU had 9 hits in the game, but could not scratch the scoring column.  Kristi Barka and Britney Bayless had 2 hits apiece.  Rachel Staley (3-1) picked up the win in the second game as the Bears triumphed 7-1.  Staley allowed 1 run on 7 hits.  She did not walk a batter and struck out two.  Megan Felts had 3 hits in the game.  Keri Bennett had 2 hits and 3 RBI.  Tara Walker had 2 hits and 2 RBI.  Kat van den Broek and Nikki Moore scored 2 runs apiece.

 
April 2 @ Findlay

Shawnee State split a pair of 1-0 decisions with Findlay University.  Rhonda Sacks was tagged with the loss in the opener.  She allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 7 2/3 innings.  A bases loaded walk gave Findlay the win in the bottom of the 8th inning.  Shawnee State had 6 hits on the day.  With the exception of a triple by Megan Felts, all the other SSU hit were singles.  Rachel Staley picked up the win in the night cap.  She scattered 3 singles over 5.0 innings.  She walked 2 and did not record a strikeout.  Rhonda Sacks worked the final 2 innings to record her second save of the year.  Megan Felts had the only SSU hit.  She smacked her 3rd homerun of the season in the second inning.

 
March 27 vs. Hartwick
Shawnee State swept a double-header from Hartwick College by scores of 1-0 and 6-3 to wrap up its Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.  Rhonda Sacks (5-3) picked up the win in the opener as she tossed her 3rd shutout of the season.  SSU scored the winning run on an RBI groundout by Kendra Hull in the top of the 7th inning.  Sacks worked 7 innings scattering 3 hits and striking out five.  Megan Felts (2-0) picked up the win in the nightcap.  She worked 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits.  She walked 3 and struck out three.  Sacks worked the final inning to pick up her first save of the season.  Kat van den Broek and Nikki Moore had 2 hits each in the game.  van den Broek and Tara Walker had 2 RBI apiece. 
 
March 25 vs. Washington & Jefferson (@ Myrtle Beach, SC)

Shawnee State split a double-header with Washington & Jefferson College in Myrtle Beach, SC.   W & J won the opener by a score of 8-4.  The loss snaps a 3-game win streak for the Bears and starting pitcher, Rhonda Sacks.  Shawnee State had 2 hits apiece from Keri Bennett, Megan Felts, and Kat van den Broek.   Shawnee State rebounded in the second game with a 9-0 victory.  Megan Felts (1-0) picked up the win in her first start of the season.  She scattered 4 hits in 5 innings of work.  SSU had 2 hits each from Keri Bennett, Kristi Barka, Kat van den Broek, Ashley Adkins, and Nikki Moore.

 
March 24 vs. Felician (@ Myrtle Beach, SC)
The Shawnee State Softball Team won its 3rd straight game in Myrtle Beach with a 5-2 victory over Felician College on Wednesday morning.  Rhonda Sacks (4-2) picked up the win for the Bears.  She allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits.  She walked 3 batters and struck out 4.  Keri Bennett had 2 hits, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored.  Kristi Barka, Ashley Adkins, Britney Bayless, and Tia Walling all had 1 hit apiece. 
 
March 22 vs. Frostburg State (@ Myrtle Beach, SC)

Shawnee State swept a double-header versus Frostburg State in its first day of play at the Snowbird Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC.  SSU won the opener 7-0.  Rhonda Sacks pitched the one-hit shutout.  The Bears had 2 hits apiece from Kristi Barka, Kendra Hull, and Britney Bayless.  SSU scored 7 runs on 4 Frostburg errors in the first two innings.  SSU played its first error free game of the season.  Sacks led the Bears to an 8-0 win in game two with her second straight one-hitter.  Sacks once again had defensive help as SSU played error free defense.  Keri Bennett, Kat van den Broek, and Britney Bayless had two hits apiece.  Kristi Barka had a 3-RBI double in the 4th inning.

 
March 14 vs. Madonna

Madonna University defeated the Bears 5-2.  Madonna jumped out early with a 3-run first inning.  The Bears did not cross the plate until they scored twice in the bottom of the 7th.  Rhonda Sacks took the loss allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits.  She struck out 2 and surrendered 2 walks.  Keri Bennett was 2-4 in the game and added a stolen base.  Kristi Barka, Ashley Adkins, Kat van den Broek, Kendra Hull, and Britney Bayless had 1 hit apiece. 

 
March 14 vs. Spalding
Spalding University defeated SSU 6-4.  Spalding jumped out to a 3-run lead in the first inning, only to see SSU take the lead with a 4-run 3rd inning.  Spalding responded immediately with 3 runs in the top of the 4th.  Rachel Staley took the loss as she allowed 6 runs (5 earned) in 3 1/3 innings.  Rhonda Sacks did not allow a run over the final 3 2/3.  Keri Bennett continued her hot hitting.  She was 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Megan Felts, Kendra Hull, Tara Walker, and Britney Bayless had 1 hit each.   
 
March 13 vs. Urbana
SSU picked up a 5-1 non-conference win over AMC South rival Urbana University.  Rhonda Sacks picked up the win as she allowed 1 unearned run on 3 hits over 7 innings.  Ashley Adkins had a 3-run double in the 5th inning to break a 1-1 tie.  Keri Bennett had 3 hits and 2 runs scored in the game.  Tara Walker had her first multi-hit game as a Bear.   
 
March 13 vs. Notre Dame
SSU defeated Notre Dame College 8-1.  Kat van den Broek again had 3 hits.  Keri Bennett and Britney Bayless had 2 hits apiece.  Rachel Staley picked up the win in her first collegiate start.  She scattered 7 hits over 7 innings and allowed just 1 unearned run.  She struck out 5 and did not allow a base on ball.  Stewart took the loss as she allowed 6 unearned runs, all in the first inning.  Michelle Csontos worked the final 5 1/3 innings for Notre Dame.   
 
March 12 vs. St. Vincent

Shawnee State lost its season opener to St. Vincent College by a score of 4-1.  Rhonda Sacks took the loss for the Bears.  She allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits over 7 innings.  She walked 3 and struck out 4.  Keri Bennett and Kat van den Broek were each 3 for 3 on the day.  Britney Bayless and Megan Felts had one hit apiece.  Nora Schumacher picked up the win for the Bearcats.  She scattered 8 hits over 6.1 innings.  She walked 1 and struck out 7.  Lesa Bauer worked the final 2/3 of an inning for the save.  Nicole Hinerman and Theresa Adams had 3 hits apiece in the game.
