Four members of the
Shawnee State University Men's Soccer Team earned All-American
Mideast Conference recognition for their on-field performance during
the 2007 season.
Gonzalo
Perez-Beck, a senior midfielder, became the first
SSU soccer player to earn 1st Team recognition. He tallied 9
goals and dished a school-record 6 assists on the season. For
his career, he had a school-record 30 goals and 18 assists.
Steven Cox,
a freshman forward from Upper Arlington, earned 2nd Team All-AMC
honors. He established an SSU single season record with 18
goals. Seven of those goals came in a win over Pikeville
College on September 8.
Jonathon
Venters and
Kurt Rininger
both received All-AMC Honorable Mention. Venters, a senior
goalie from Xenia, OH, set single season school records in goals
against average (2.06), shutouts (5) and wins (5). Rininger, a
senior defender from Copley, OH, tallied 1 goal and 1 assist from
his defensive position.
Shawnee State had its best season in school history
with a record of 7-9-2. The Bears established single season
team record for goals (44), assists (28), points (116), shut outs
(7), and goals against (2.44 gpg). |
