October 24 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State lost to 19th ranked Rio Grande by a score of 5-1.  The match was tied at 1-1 at the end of the first period.  Rio Grande's Ederson Lopes opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a header off a corner kick.  Shawnee State tied the game in the 27th minute on a penalty kick by AMC leading goal scorer Steven Cox.  Rio Grande took the lead for good with a goal by Darren Griffiths in the 53rd minute of play.  Ryan Baxter, Jason Massie, and Ederson Lopes also scored in the second period.  Rio Grande out shot Shawnee State 27-8.  Jonathon Venters recorded 10 saves for Shawnee State. 

 
October 20 vs. Urbana

Shawnee State lost to Urbana University 0-2.  UU’s Jacob Partin scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Dan Gilmer in the 6th minute of play.  UU’s Alex scored in the 83rd minutes unassisted.  Urbana out shot the Bears 16 to 10 in the game.  SSU’s Jonathan Venters recorded 5 saves in the game.  UU’s Ryan Michaels tallied 3 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
October 18 vs. Kentucky Christian

Shawnee State defeated Kentucky Christian University 6-0.  Matt Lonsinger had the first goal of the game on an assist from Kurt Rininger in the 15th minute of play.  Paul Adkins scored on an assist from Steven Cox at 34:15.  Gonzalo Perez-Beck had his first goal of the game on an assist from Cox in the 48th minute and then scored unassisted in the 60th minute of play.  In the 74th minute of play, Cox tallied a goal unassisted.  Shawnee State’s final goal of the game was unassisted by Brad Reffitt.  SSU out shot KCU 23-7 in the game.  SSU’s Rocky Dunkin recorded 2 saves in the game, while Bobby Krauss tallied 1 save.  KCU’s Andrew Oldman recorded 12 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
October 13 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State lost to NAIA No. 11 Ohio Dominican University 0-9.  ODU out shot the Bears 32-6 in the game.  SSU’s Jonathon Venters recorded 6 saves in the game, Rocky Dunkin recorded 3 saves, and Bobby Krauss recorded 3 saves in the game.  ODU’s Eric Pfiefer recorded 3 saves in the game.

 
October 8 vs. Malone

Shawnee State tied with Malone College 1-1.  Malone’s Marcos Batchelor scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Dean Greenland in the 16th minute of play.  SSU’s Gonzalo Perez-Beck tied the game on an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute of play.  Malone out shot the Bears 25 to 11 in the game.  SSU’s Jonathon Venters recorded 12 saves in the game.  MC’s Mike Porter tallied 2 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
September 29 vs. Point Park

Shawnee State Men’s Soccer team lost to Point Park University 1-2 on Saturday Afternoon. Shawnee State falls to 5-5-1 on the season. Point Park improves to 3-6 on the season. SSU’s Steven Cox scored the first goal of the game in the 8th minute on an assist from Gonzalo Perez-Beck. Point Park tied the game in the 22nd minute on an unassisted goal by Anthony Stahl. Point Park’s Dustin Hess scored the game winning goal in the 59th minute on an assist from Mohammed Abubakar. Shawnee State and Point Park each had 10 shots in the game. SSU’s Rocky Dunkin and Jonathan Venters both had 3 saves in the game, with Venters suffering the loss. PPU’s Steve Fabian recorded 2 saves in the game. [Box Score]

 
September 28 vs. Mount Vernon

Shawnee State Men’s Soccer Team defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene University 1-0.  Ryan Appeal had the only goal of the game on an assist from Michael Mohr in the 81st minute of play.  Mount Vernon out shot the Bears 20-7 in the game.  SSU’s Jonathon Venters had 6 saves in the game.  MVNU’s Alex Stout tallied 3 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
September 26 vs. Bluffton

Shawnee State Men’s Soccer Team tied with Bluffton University 1-1, after the game was called due to lightning in overtime.  Shawnee State scored the first goal just four minutes into the game.  Steven Cox scored the goal on  corner kick from Drew Sampson.  Bluffton tied the game on an unassisted goal by Nate Flath in the 7th minute of play.  Bluffton out shot the Bears 17-9 in the game.  SSU’s Jonathon Venters tallied 6 saves in the game.  BU’s Robbie Pomfrey recorded 2 saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
September 22 @ Walsh

Shawnee State lost to Walsh 1-5.  Shawnee State's Jordan Buck had the Bears only goal of the game on an assist from Gonzalo Perez-Beck.

 
September 19 @ Mt. St. Joseph

Shawnee State defeated the College of Mt. St. Joseph 2-0.  Shawnee State's first goal of the game came in the 42nd minute of play on an unassisted goal by Jordan Buck.  SSU's Steven Cox scored again at the 81:11 minute mark of the game on a penalty kick.  Shawnee State out shot Mt. St. Joseph 17-14 in the game.  SSU's Jonathan Venters had 9 saves as he recorded his third shutout of the season.  [Box Score]

 
September 9 @ Pikeville
Shawnee State's offense continued to click on Sunday as the Bears won 9-0.  Cox scored 2 goals in the match to give him 11 for the week.  Perez-Beck added 2 goals and 3 assists.  Shawnee State also had goals from Blake Shelton, Bryan Barker, Drew Sampson, Curtis Jones, and Michael Mohr.  Rock Dunkin recorded his first career shutout in goal.  [Box Score]
 
September 8 @ Pikeville

Shawnee State won by a score of 10-0 on Saturday as Steven Cox scored a school record 7 goals.  He scored 4 goals in the first period on assists from Bryan Barker, Gonzalo Perez-Beck, Barry Collins, and Drew Sampson.  Sampson assisted his next two goals early in the second period.  Cox's final goal came in the 79th minute on an assist from Graham Purdy.  The Bears also had goals from Brad Reffit, Kurt Rininger, and Perez-Beck.  Perez-Beck's goal at 71:15 gave him the school record for goals in a career with 23.  Jonathon Venters had 1 save as he recorded his second straight shutout.  [Box Score]

 
September 4 vs. Ohio Valley

Shawnee State picked up its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout over Ohio Valley College.  Steven Cox scored both of Shawnee State's goals in the match.  The first came on a cross from Matt Lonsinger in the game's 24th minutes.  The second came on an assist from Graham Purdy in the 62nd minute of play.  Jonathon Venters recorded 4 saves.  [Box Score]

 
September 1 @ St. Francis

Shawnee State lost to St. Francis 3-0 on Saturday.  The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half.  The first goal came at 49:09 off the foot of Patrick Ohms.  Ryan Crawford scored goals at 64:42 and 71:39.  Both came on assists from Brad Lohman.  [Box Score]

 
August 31 vs. Huntington @ St. Francis

Shawnee State lost to Huntington University 2-1 on Friday.  Huntington's Marc William scored the first goal of the match with under two minutes left on the clock in the first half.  Huntington needed only six minutes in the second half to add a goal by Brad Kunze to take a 2-0 lead.  Bryan Barker scored just 3 minutes later as he scored on a put back of a shot by Gonzalo Perez-Beck.   Jonathon Venters played the entire first half in goal and recorded 3 saves.  Rocky Dunkin recorded 2 saves for the Bears in the second half.  [Box Score]

 
August 24 @ West Virginia Tech

Shawnee State lost its season opener versus West Virginia Tech 3-2 in overtime.  Gonzalo Perez-Beck got the Bears on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal just seven minutes into the game.  WV Tech's Ionut Buse tied the game on an assist from David James just two minutes prior to halftime.  WV Tech scored five minutes into the second half on a penalty kick by Jonathon Day.  Blake Shelton tied the game eight minutes later on a goal by Blake Shelton, assisted by Perez Beck.  It took WV Tech just seven minutes of overtime to get the game winning goal from Miles Dragisic.  "It was a really hard fought game by both teams but we came up short in overtime," said Shawnee State coach, Ron Goodson.  "Hopefully, this shows our guys what we need to work on and we can improve as we head into the weekend road trip."  [Box Score]
