October 30 @ Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene 2-1 in overtime to close out the 2004 season. Shawnee State took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Josh Keeney at 27:32.  The goal came on an assist from Kevin Hay. Mt. Vernon's Josh VanPelt tied the game at 72:01 on an assist from Adam Pelak.  Jonathon Hoop scored the game winning goal 4:34 into overtime on an assist from Seth Taylor.  Mt. Vernon out shot SSU 27-8.  Isaac Wooten recorded 7 saves on the afternoon for Shawnee State.     

 
October 27 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State lost to NAIA #1 ranked Rio Grande 12-1.  Kurt Ringinger scored Shawnee’s only goal on an assist from Josh Keeney at 26:01 of the first half.  Rio out shot SSU by a 37-11 margin.  Isaac Wooten had 11 saves for the day.

 
October 24 vs. Salem International

Shawnee State lost to Salem International University 6-1.  Salem scored 4 goals in the first half of the match.  Josh Keeney scored the Bears' only goal on an assist from Joel Gross at 24:55 of the first half.  Salem added two goals in the second period.  Salem out shot SSU by a 27-10 margin.  Isaac Wooten recorded 10 saves for the game.  

 
October 16 vs. Walsh
Shawnee State lost to Walsh University 3-1.  Walsh scored on a goal by Alejandro Munin in the game's 37th minute to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.  Walsh added an unassisted goal by Marcus Olinger at the 71:37 mark.  SSU cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Kevin Hay at 77:46.  Josh Keeney recorded the assist on the goal.  Walsh put the match out of reach with a goal by Ryan Inama at 87:07.  Issac Wooten recorded 16 saves in the loss.
 
October 13 @ Thomas More

Shawnee State lost to Thomas More College 2-0. The teams played to a 0-0 tie at the half.  TMC's first goal came from Mike Flohr on an assist from Ryan Reardon in the game's 53rd minute.  Reardon added a second goal at 76:00.  Thomas More out shot SSU 20-13 on the night.  Isaac Wooten recorded 9 saves for the Bears.

 
October 11 @ Kentucky Christian
Shawnee State picked up its third win of the season with a 1-0 shutout victory over Kentucky Christian College.  The lone goal of the game came from Gonzalo Perez-Beck on an assist from Blake Shelton in the first half of the contest.  Isaac Wooten worked 90 minutes in goal to record his first complete-game shutout of the season.
 
October 9 @ Tiffin
Shawnee State let a 2-0 lead slip away against AMC South leader Tiffin University.  The Bears lost to the Dragons 4-2.  SSU took a 1-0 lead in the game's 42nd minute on a goal by Kevin Hay on an assist from Gonzalo Perez-Beck.  SSU's Josh Keeney scored on an assist from Perez-Beck just 5 minutes into the 2nd period.  Tiffin's comeback began with Eamonn Dooley's unassisted goal at the 55-minute mark.  Ron Mugabi scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at 66:00.  Justin Kempton scored in the game's 81st minute to give the Dragons the lead.  Tiffin added a goal with 3 minutes to play after SSU emptied the net in an attempt to tie the match.
 
October 5 vs. Urbana
Shawnee State lost to Urbana University 5-0.  Urbana first scored 16 minutes into the game on a goal by Pat Thompson.  The Blue Knights would add two more goals before the half, including another by Thompson.  Urbana added 2 goals in the second period.   Urbana out shot SSU 38-5 on the day.  Isaac Wooten recorded 12 saves in the match. 
 
October 2 vs. Ohio Dominican
Shawnee State lost to Ohio Dominican 4-3.  Shawnee State’s Josh Keeney grabbed the first goal of the game with an assist by Conrad Rinto with 34 minutes left in the first half.  Ohio Dominican responded with a goal by Chris Trefzger in the 30th minute with an assist by Peter Fink.  Brian Billings immediately followed in the 29th minute with another goal.  The Panthers Aaron Moses scored one more time before the end of the first half.  The Bears Gonzalo Perez-Beck came back and scored two minutes into the second half.  Keeney tied the game with 16 minutes left to play in the game.  The Panthers Trefzger scored the final goal at the 3:52 mark.
 
September 29 vs. Marietta
Shawnee State lost to Marietta College by a score of 3-1.  The match started as a defensive struggle with the teams going into halftime tied at zero.  Shawnee State’s Kurt Rininger scored his sixth goal of the season on an assist from Josh Keeney to give SSU a 1-0 lead two minutes into the second half.  Marietta responded with a goal by Ryan Smith in the game’s 58th minute.  Brad Maddox added a second Marietta goal just four minutes later.  Marietta’s Kyle Loveless scored the final Pioneer goal at the 65:40 mark. 
 
September 26 @ Anderson

Shawnee State played Anderson University to a 1-1 tie.  Shawnee State took a 1-0 lead in the first half as Kurt Rininger scored on an assist from Josh Keeney twelve minutes into the game.  Keeney has scored a goal or had an assist in 4 straight matches.  Anderson tied the match twenty minutes into the second half to send the game into overtime.  SSU’s Isaac Wooten recorded 19 saves on the day.

 
September 24 @ Cedarville

BEARS FALL TO CEDARVILLE
Shawnee State lost 6-2 to Cedarville University.  Shawnee State had goals from Josh Keeney and Joel Gross.  Keeney’s goal was his third in three games and came on an assist from Gonzalo Perez.  Gross’s goal came on a penalty kick in the game’s 81st minute.  Jonathon Venters recorded 7 saves in goal for the Bears.  Cedarville out shot Shawnee State 35-8.

 
September 22 @ Ohio Valley

Shawnee State U won its second straight game with a 6-0 victory over Ohio Valley College.  Kurt Rininger had 2 goals for the second consecutive game.  Kevin Hay had 2 assist giving him 5 over the past 2 games.  Josh Keeney, Clayton Cahall, Graham Purdy, and Ross Frantz had 1 goal apiece.  The Bears also had assists from Keeney, Cahall, Gonzalo Perez-Beck, and Chris Robinson. 

 
September 19 vs. Berea

Shawnee State won its first game of the season with a 4-3 overtime win over Berea College. Kurt Rininger got the Bears out to an early 2-0 lead with goals at 22:42 and 19:36 in the first half.  Both goals came on assists from Kevin Hay.  Berea stormed back with a barrage of 3 goals over the final 17 minutes of the first period to go into the half with a 3-2 lead.   SSU tied the game with 5:41 remaining on a penalty kick by Gonzalo Perez-Beck to go into overtime.   Josh Keeney scored on a break away just 45 seconds into overtime to give the Bears the win. 

 
September 18 @ Malone

Shawnee State lost its American Mideast Conference opener to Malone College by a score of 4-1.  Joel Gross scored the Bears’ only goal on the day.  It was his second of the season.  Isaac Wooten recorded 7 saves in goal for the Bears.  Malone out shot SSU 11-4 on the afternoon. 

 
September 12 vs. St. Vincent

Shawnee State lost to St. Vincent College 9-0.  St. Vincent out shot SSU by a 30-10 margin.  The Bearcats got two goals in the first period before the Bears’ defense wore down.  In a fifteen-minute stretch in the second half, Rick Seigh scored 5 consecutive goals for St. Vincent. 

 
September 11 vs. Brescia

Shawnee State hosted 17th ranked Brescia University.  Brescia won the match by a score of 6-0.  Shawnee State played a tough first period trailing just 1-0 at the half.  Brescia’s depth proved too much in the second half as the Bearcats added 5 goals and secured the shutout.  Brescia’s Durand Engineer scored 3 goals in the contest and added an assist.  Jonathon Venters worked the entire game in goal for SSU.  He recorded 15 saves on the day. 

 
September 4 @ Muskingum

Shawnee Statelost to Muskingum College by a score of 7-1.  SSU trailed Muskingum 4-0 at the half.  Josh Judge scored the only goal for the Bears on an assist from Joel Gross 23 minutes into the second half.  Isaac Wooten worked the first half in goal for the Bears and recorded 6 saves.  Jonathon Venters recorded 9 saves in the second half.  

 
September 1 vs. Baldwin Wallace

Shawnee State lost its season opener by a score of 4-1 to Baldwin Wallace College.  SSU grabbed the lead early when Joel Gross scored on an assist from Kirk Crow at the 12:30 mark of the first half.  Baldwin Wallace tied the game four minutes later on a goal by Alex Restaino.  Both teams played tough defense until BW’s Toby Carlstrom scored in the games 68th minute.  Baldwin Wallace added two goals inside the game’s final ten minutes, both by Justin Parkhurst.  Baldwin Wallace out shot Shawnee State 33-9 in the contest.  SSU’s Isaac Wooten recorded 11 saves and BW’s Chris Windham recorded 3 saves.
