November 2 @ St. Vincent

Shawnee State closed out the 2003 season with a 7-1 loss at St. Vincent.  SSU's goal came from Nick Helbling on an assist from Ike Wooten.  St. Vincent out shot SSU by a 35-4 margin.  Rob Appell recorded 18 saves in the contest.

 
November 1 @ Salem
SSU lost to Salem International by a score of 6-0.  Salem out shot SSU 17-2.  Rob Appell worked the second half in goal and recorded 7 saves.
 
October 28 vs. Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State University lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University 5-2.  Mt. Vernon scored 4 goals in the first 23 minutes of the match.  SSU’s Josh Keeney scored at the 27-minute mark and the Bears trailed 4-1 at the half.  Mt. Vernon added a goal 12 minutes into the second period.  SSU added a goal in the final minute of the game on a penalty kick by goalie Rob Appell.   Mt. Vernon out shot the Bears 18-12 in the match.  Appell recorded 5 saves in the final home match of his career.  

 
October 25 @ Defiance

Shawnee State lost to Defiance College by a score of 4-0.  Defiance jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half.  The Yellow Jackets added the 4th goal in the second half.  Defiance out shot SSU 10-1 in the match.

 
October 22 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State lost to #1 Rio Grande by a score of 8-0. Rio Grande got off to a fairly quick start scoring in the game’s 12th minute.  Rio added another goal at the 30-minute mark to take a 2-0 halftime lead.  Rio exploded for 6 goals in the second frame to secure its number one ranking. 

 
October 18 @ Walsh

Shawnee State lost to Walsh University 5-1.  The game was tied at zero until with just three minutes remaining in the first period, a Walsh crossing pass deflected off an SSU player for an own goal.  Walsh scored just two minutes later to take a 2-0 halftime lead.SSU struck first in the second period as Josh Keeney scored his 8th goal of the season.  Walsh added three more goals in a 20 minute span to secure the win.

 
October 13 vs. Kentucky Christian

Shawnee State rallied from a 2-0 first half deficit to beat Kentucky Christian College by a score of 3-2.  SSU gave up two goals in a span of 3 minutes in the first half.   Jason Kennedy scored the first goal for the Knights off a corner kick from Ryan Morrow at the 11:21 mark.  Morrow added another goal on a free kick at 14:05. Shawnee State picked up its first goal at 22:04 in the first period.  Joel Gross scored on an assist from Josh Keeney.  Keeney scored on an assist from Gross just 2 minutes later.  Keeney scored the game winner on an assist from Nate Benner with 19 minutes left to play in the game. Kentucky Christian’s Ryan Morrow took a wide open shot from 35 yards out as time expired.  However, SSU keeper, Rob Appell caught the ball in front of the goal for his 6th save of the contest. 

 
October 11 vs. Tiffin

he Shawnee State Men’s Soccer Team lost to Tiffin University by a score of 14-1.  Tiffin got off to a quick start with goal by Thomas Lankford in the game’s 4th minute.  The Dragons scored again at the 21:22 mark on a penalty kick by Ronald Mugabi.  Tiffin took a 6-0 lead at the half.  The Dragons scored 5 goals in the opening seven minutes of the second half.   Shawnee State’s lone goal came from Joel Gross on an assist from Josh Keeney.  Isaac Wooten recorded 15 saves for the Bears. 

 
October 7 @ Urbana

Shawnee State to Urbana University 5-1.  Urbana scored twice in the first period on goals by Pat Thompson and Josh Baskin.  The Blue Knights extended their lead to 5-0 in the second half.  Shawnee State avoided the shut out thanks to Josh Keeney's 5th goal of the season.  The goal can on an assist from Josh Burkhart with just 5 minutes left in the match.  Urbana out shot SSU 28-6.  Ben Glaser recorded 15 saves for SSU.  Aaron Vorst had 5 saves for Urbana.

 
October 4 @ Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State University lost to Ohio Dominican by a score of 6-0.  Ohio Dominican jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second minute of the match on a penalty kick.  SSU’s Ben Glaser turned away another Panther penalty kick just 6 minutes later.  The Bears defense held strong and did not allow a goal the remainder of the first half.  The flood gates burst open as ODU scored twice within the first 10 minutes of the second half.

 
September 28 @ Capital
Shawnee State lost to Capital by a score of 7-0.  Capital out shot SSU 32-4.  Rob Appell gave up all 7 goals and recorded 10 saves.  Matt Bergeron, Trae Manny, and Michael Donaworth combined to had SSU its 3rd consecutive shut out.
 
September 27 vs. Cedarville
Cedarville University knocked off Shawnee State 8-0 in American Mideast Conference action.  Cedarville out shot SSU 33-2.  Benjamin Glaser gave up all 8 of the goals, but did record 13 saves.
 
September 21 @ Marietta

The Shawnee State University Men’s Soccer Team lost to Marietta College 5-0. Marietta scored three times in the first period and twice in the second half.  Gerardo Gonzalez had 2 goals and an assist for Marietta.  SSU managed just 3 shots in the match compared to 21 by Marietta.

 
September 20 vs. Malone

The Shawnee State University Men’s Soccer Team lost its AMC opener to Malone College by a score of 5-2.  Joel Gross and Josh Keeney scored goals for Shawnee State.  Gross also added an assist.  Rob Appell recorded 3 saves. Sylvester Kabakole scored 2 goals for the Pioneers.   

 
September 14 @ Georgetown
Shawnee State lost to Georgetown College by a score of 6-1.  Georgetown out shot SSU 14-7 on Sunday.  Issac Wooten and Rob Appell split time in goal.  Wooten recorded 6 saves and Appell recorded 4 saves.  Josh Keeney was the Bears’ lone goal scorer.  Keeney scored on an assist from Kevin Hay. 
 
September 13 @ Brescia
Brescia College defeated Shawnee State 10-1.  Brescia out shot SSU by a 17-3 margin.  Brescia had 4 goals from Daniel Clitnovici.  Ben Glaser worked the first 20 minutes of the game in goal and surrendered 4 goals while recording 4 saves.  Rob Appell worked the final 70 minutes.  He allowed 6 goals and recorded 11 saves.  SSU’ s goal came from Josh Keeney on an assist from Ryan Owen. 
 
September 6 vs. Daemen (@ Marian)

Shawnee State lost to Deamen College 6-1 in the consolation game of the Marian Invitational Tournament.  The Bears' goal came from Josh Keeney.  Isaac Wooten allowed 4 goals and recorded 4 saves in 30:00 minutes in goal.  Ben Glaser allowed 2 goals and recorded 7 saves over the final 60:00 minutes of play.

 
September 5 @ Marian
Shawnee State lost to Marian College by a score of 5-1 in the first round of the Marian Invitational.  The Bears got a goal from Walter Iriarte.  Ben Glaser worked the 1st half in goal.  He allowed 4 goals and recorded 12 saves.  Rob Appell allowed 1 goal and recorded 8 saves in the 2nd period.
 
August 31 vs. Muskingum

The Shawnee State University Men's Soccer Team opened the 2003 season with a 7-1 loss to Muskingum College.  Daniel Quiroz Mar led the Muskies with 3 goals and 1 assist.  Azeal Nava Lopez added 2 goals for Muskingum.  Kevin Hay scored the Bears' lone goal on an assist from Kirk Crow with 5:31 left in the match.
