April 29 - 30

Shawnee State University Golf Team placed 2nd out of 13 teams at the AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament at Apple Valley Golf Club.  Matt DeHart won the individual championship to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament in Olathe, KS May 18-21.  SSU led the 54-hole tournament by four strokes at the halfway point.  Malone charged back on the second day to finish at 918.  SSU totaled 930 to finish 1 stroke ahead of Tiffin.  Walsh (933) and Mt. Vernon (944) rounded out the top five.  Matt DeHart won the individual championship on the 3rd hole of a playoff.  He carded a 227 along with Malone’s Keith Cunningham and Walsh’s Chris Saltmarsh.    Shawn Sergent finished 7th with a 232 to earn All-AMC honors.  Heath Chamberlain (234) placed 11th, Brad Washburn (237) finished 16th to round out the scoring.

 
April 19 - 20

For the fourth time in eight years, the Shawnee State University Golf Team captured the Cedarville Invitational Tournament.  Shawnee State finished with a score of 308 at Beavercreek Golf Club on Monday and a score of 299 at the Country Club of the North on Tuesday for a 607 total.  SSU finished ahead of Tiffin (613), Mt. Vernon Nazarene (626), Urbana (628), Cedarville (639), Ohio Dominican (659), and Wilmington (663).  Heath Chamberlain paced the Bears with his first tournament win of the season.  He shot 76-74 for a two-day total of 150.  Matt DeHart (77-74-151) and Shawn Sergent (79-72-151) placed second.  Brad Washburn placed 11th with rounds of 76 and 79. 

 
April 16 - 17
Shawnee State placed 6th out of 10 teams in the Urbana Invitational Tournament.  Heath Chamberlain and Matt DeHart paced the Bears with 2nd and 3rd place finishes respectively.  Chamberlain lost to Mt. Vernon's Nathanael Petry on the 1st playoff hole.  Chamberlain carded a 146 (73+73) for the tournament.  DeHart shot 147 (71+76).  He led the tournament after the first day of play.  Jason VanDeusen (83+77) and Shawn Sergent (84+86) rounded out the scoring for SSU. 
 
April 1 - 2 @ Southeast Kentucky Intercollegiate

Shawnee State placed 11th out of 20 teams at the Southeast Kentucky Intercollegiate Invitational.  The Bears battled through 38 degree temperatures, rain, and wind to shoot 654 over the two-day tournament.  Lee University won the event with a 588.  Heath Chamberlain led the Bears with a 157 (79-78).  Matt DeHart and Brad Washburn each totaled 166 (85-81).  Shawn Sergent shot 84-87 for a 171 total.

 
March 29 @ SSU Invitational

Shawnee State placed 3rd in the 13th Annual SSU Invitational at the Elk’s Golf Club. Mt. Vernon Nazarene won the eleven team event with a score of 296.  The Cougars defeated Tiffin on a scorecard playoff.  The Bears carded a 300, their lowest total ever in their own tournament.  Mt. Vernon’s Nathaniel Petry won the event with 72.  Shawnee State’s Shawn Sergent placed 2nd overall with a score of 73.  Eight players, including SSU’s Matt DeHart came in at 74 on the day.

 
March 18 - 19 @ Glenville Invitational
Shawnee State finished 5th out of 14 teams at the Glenville State Invitational at the Oxbow Golf Club.  Matt DeHart placed 4th with a two-day total 146.  He finished 5 strokes out of first and was named to the all-tournament team.  Jason VanDeusen (153), Brad Washburn (154), Heath Chamberlain (157), and Shawn Sergent (157) rounded out the scoring for SSU.  The Bears placed behind Bryant, Concord, Shepherd, and West Liberty.
