Spring 2003


May 1 - 2 @ AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament
Shawnee State finished 5t out of 12 teams at the AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament at Apple Valley Golf Course.  Shawnee State shot a team-total 942 over the 54-hole event.  Matt DeHart led the Bears with a 225.  He finished 5th overall and earned All-Conference honors in the process.  Heath Chamberlain finished 15th with a score of 233.  Jason VanDeusen, Eric Welch, and Mike Spriggs rounded out the scoring for SSU.
 
April 21 - 22 @ Cedarville Invitational
Shawnee State finished 3rd out of 9 teams at the 22nd Annual Cedarville University Golf Invitational.  The Bears totaled a two-day total 650 in the tournament played at Beavercreek Golf Club and the Country Club of the North.  Brad Washburn led the Bears with a 5th place overall finish.  He shot 81 - 76 for a total of 157.  Heath Chamberlain followed with a 162.  Mike Spriggs shot a 166.  Jason VanDeusen (167) and Matt DeHart (176) rounded out the scoring for SSU.
 
April 18 - 19 @ Mt. Vernon Invitational
Shawnee State finished 4th out of 7 teams at the Mt. Vernon Golf Invitational held at Apple Valley Golf Course.  SSU carded at two-day total 626 to finish 37 strokes behind team champion, Mt. Vernon Nazarene.  Matt DeHart led the Bears with two-day score of 150.  Brad Washburn carded a 157.  Heath Chamberlain and Mike Spriggs each fired 162's.  Eric Welch rounded out the scoring with a 170.
 
April 3-4 @ Southeastern KY Intercollegiate
Shawnee State finished 7th out of 14 teams at the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate Tournament in London, KY.  Matt DeHart led the Bears with a 7th place finish.  He shot a two-day total 150 (76-74).  Jason VanDeusen (156), Mike Spriggs (156), and Heath Chamberlain (157) rounded out the scoring for the Bears.  Shawnee State plays in the OU-Chillicothe Invitational on Saturday, April 5.
 
March 31 @ SSU Invitational

The Shawnee State University Golf Team placed 3rd at the 11th Annual SSU Invitational Tournament held at the Elk’s Golf Club on Monday.  Shawnee State finished 6 strokes behind Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and Tiffin University with a score of 322.  Mt. Vernon and Tiffin tied at 316.  Mt. Vernon won the tiebreaker on a scorecard playoff.  Shawnee State’s 6th – 10th players grouped to finish 4th overall.  Heath Chamberlain led the Bears’ “A-Team” with a 79 to finish tied for 7th place.  Eric Welch (80), Matt DeHart (81), and Mike Spriggs (82) rounded out the scoring for the Bears.  Jason VanDeusen led the “B-Team” with a 78 and a 2nd place finish.  T.J. Dillow (82), Brad Washburn (82), and Josh Skeans (84) completed the scoring for the Bears’ second team.

 
March 27-28 @ Lincoln Memorial Classic

The Shawnee State University Golf Team placed 3rd out of nine teams at the Lincoln Memorial Classic last week.  The Bears finished 20 strokes behind tournament host, Lincoln Memorial, and just 4 strokes behind Wayne State University.  Heath Chamberlain led Shawnee State with a 6th place finish.  He shot 74-75 for a two-day total 149.  Mike Spriggs (77-74), Eric Welch (73-80), Nick Jody (79-81), and Matt DeHart (84-79) rounded out the scoring.  Shawnee State returns to action on Monday as they host the Shawnee State
University Invitational at the Elk’s Golf Club.

Fall 2002


September 14 & 15 @ Burger King Intercollegiate
Shawnee State finished 4th out of 21 teams at the Burger King Intercollegiate Invitational at Woodridge Plantation.  Matt DeHart was named to the all-tournament team as he carded a 143 (71 + 72) and finished four strokes out of first.  Heath Chamberlain tallied a 146 with rounds of 72 and 74.  Eric Welch (154), Justin Perry (163) and Mike Spriggs (166) rounded out the scoring for SSU.
 
September 9 & 10 @ Glenville Autumn Classic
Shawnee State finished 7th out of 18 teams at the Glenville Autumn Classic which was played at the Greenhills and Riverside Country Clubs.  Mike Spriggs led the Bears with a 6th place overall finish.  He carded a 151 (76 + 75) despite one double bogey and one quintuple bogey.  Matt DeHart shot a 157 (83 + 74) and finished 22nd overall.  Eric Welch (161), T. J. Dillow (166), and Nick Jody rounded out the scoring.  The team shot a two-day total of 635.
