NOTRE DAME'S KAMMLER TO RUN AT SSU
Portsmouth
Notre Dame High School’s Justin Kammler has signed a letter
of intent to run cross country at Shawnee State University.
Justin was a 2008 Division III State qualifier in cross
country and finished 73rd overall in a time of
17:12. He has also qualified for state twice in track and
field in the 1600. This season Justin was league champion
as he won the 1600 meter run and the 800. He also holds
Notre Dame’s school records in the 5K, 1600 and 800. He was
named All-SOC and all-district in track at Notre Dame High
School.
“We feel like
Justin could have gone anywhere to run in college so for him
to come to Shawnee State we are really excited,” said SSU
Head Coach Eric Putnam. “Justin is a very talented athlete
and has a ton of room to grow as a college runner.”
While attending
Shawnee State Kammler will be studying Sociology. |

WILLARD HIGH SCHOOL’S KOSTOFF TO RUN FOR THE BEARS
Willard High
School’s standout runner Dirk Kostoff has signed a letter of
intent to continue his running career at Shawnee State
University.
Kostoff letter
four times in track and three times in cross country at
Willard High School. He finished 76th at the
State Meet in 2007 with a time of 17:20. Dirk was named
all-conference and all-district twice in cross country while
at Willard High School. In track he has posted a career
best of 4:32 in the 1600.
Kostoff also
lettered twice and was a district qualifier in wrestling.
“Dirk is the
kind of high school runner that I love to recruit and sign
at Shawnee State,” said Head Coach Eric Putnam. “He has
been successful in high school while not running a ton of
miles. I look for Dirk to have a very successful college
running career at Shawnee State.”
Kostoff will be
studying Integrated Social Studies while attending Shawnee
State.

HORNICK OF JOHNSTOWN MONROE TO RUN FOR THE
BEARS
Johnstown Monroe High School Jeremy Hornick
has signed a letter of intent to run cross country at
Shawnee State University.
Jeremy was a 2008 Division III state
qualifier in cross country placing 63rd with a
time of 17:04. He recently set the 3200 meter record at
Johnstown Monroe with a time of 9:55.
Jeremy will join his older brother, Justin, who will run at
SSU for his third season in the fall. Jeremy is the third
person to come from Johnstown Monroe to run at Shawnee
State. In addition to his brother Justin, Kris Jones had a
strong four-year career in cross country at SSU.
"Jeremy Hornick, along with his brother Justin, both have a
good chance of both running in the top 7 for us all season
long," said Head Coach Eric Putnam. "Jeremy has had a very
good senior year of high school making it to the state meet
in Cross Country. Jeremy also has a great shot at making to
the state in track as well."
