NOTRE DAME'S KAMMLER TO RUN AT SSU
Portsmouth Notre Dame High School’s Justin Kammler has signed a letter of intent to run cross country at Shawnee State University.  Justin was a 2008 Division III State qualifier in cross country and finished 73rd overall in a time of 17:12. He has also qualified for state twice in track and field in the 1600.  This season Justin was league champion as he won the 1600 meter run and the 800.  He also holds Notre Dame’s school records in the 5K, 1600 and 800.  He was named All-SOC and all-district in track at Notre Dame High School.

“We feel like Justin could have gone anywhere to run in college so for him to come to Shawnee State we are really excited,” said SSU Head Coach Eric Putnam.  “Justin is a very talented athlete and has a ton of room to grow as a college runner.”

While attending Shawnee State Kammler will be studying Sociology.

WILLARD HIGH SCHOOL’S KOSTOFF TO RUN FOR THE BEARS
Willard High School’s standout runner Dirk Kostoff has signed a letter of intent to continue his running career at Shawnee State University.

Kostoff letter four times in track and three times in cross country at Willard High School.  He finished 76th at the State Meet in 2007 with a time of 17:20.  Dirk was named all-conference and all-district twice in cross country while at Willard High School.  In track he has posted a career best of 4:32 in the 1600.

Kostoff also lettered twice and was a district qualifier in wrestling.

“Dirk is the kind of high school runner that I love to recruit and sign at Shawnee State,” said Head Coach Eric Putnam.  “He has been successful in high school while not running a ton of miles.  I look for Dirk to have a very successful college running career at Shawnee State.”

Kostoff will be studying Integrated Social Studies while attending Shawnee State.

HORNICK OF JOHNSTOWN MONROE TO RUN FOR THE BEARS
Johnstown Monroe High School Jeremy Hornick has signed a letter of intent to run cross country at Shawnee State University.

Jeremy was a 2008 Division III state qualifier in cross country placing 63rd with a time of 17:04.  He recently set the 3200 meter record at Johnstown Monroe with a time of 9:55.

Jeremy will join his older brother, Justin, who will run at SSU for his third season in the fall.  Jeremy is the third person to come from Johnstown Monroe to run at Shawnee State.  In addition to his brother Justin, Kris Jones had a strong four-year career in cross country at SSU.

"Jeremy Hornick, along with his brother Justin, both have a good chance of both running in the top 7 for us all season long," said Head Coach Eric Putnam. "Jeremy has had a very good senior year of high school making it to the state meet in Cross Country. Jeremy also has a great shot at making to the state in track as well."
