SHAWNEE STATE
SIGNS CIRCLEVILLE STANDOUT LISTON
Circleville High School's standout runner Brad Liston has
signed a letter of intent to continue his running career at
Shawnee State University. He is the first member of
the Bears' 2010 recruiting class.
Liston is a four-time
individual state meet qualifier in cross country and a
two-time state qualifier in track and field. He is the
Division II State Champion in the 3200 meter run with a time
of 9:18. In cross country he has earned All-Ohio
honors three times, placing 2nd in 2009, 11th in 2008, 21st
in 2007, and 59th in 2006.
"We are extremely
excited to have Brad coming to Shawnee State," states SSU
Head Coach Eric Putnam. "Brad is a very talented
runner and we have high hopes for his running career at
Shawnee State. We feel like Brad will come in and have
an immediate impact on our program,
but we don't expect him to come in and be our number one
runner right off the bat. We feel like with the amount of
talent and experience that we will have on our roster, Brad
can come in and have an impact but not have the pressure of
having our success solely rest on his shoulders. It will
also be a big thrill to have the Division 2 state champion
in the 3200 meter run from two separate years on our roster.
(Galen Dills also won the state in 2008 in the 3200 meter
run)."
Shawnee State will compete in the Mid-South Conference
beginning in the Fall of 2010. Last season the Bears
completed the season with their highest finish in school
finish as they placed 4th at the NAIA National Meet.
The Bears return 5 of their 7 top seven runners from last
year's squad.
