HUNTINGTON'S MAGILL SIGNS TO RUN AT SSU
2/16/2011
Huntington High
School's Brandon Magill has signed a letter of intent to
continue his running career for the Bears as a member of the
2011 men's cross country team.
Magill lettered four times in both cross country and track for
the Huntsmen. At the Jesse Owens Track and Field Meet,
Magill set a new school record in the two mile as he ran the
race in 10:14. As a senior, he ran a time of 16:37 at the
Regionals at Pickerington North to qualify for the state meet.
At the state meet he finished 67th overall.
"We are
excited to have Brandon come to Shawnee in the fall and
run," said Shawnee State Head Coach Eric Putnam. "I
feel like with the kind of training that Brandon has done in
high school, he can come to Shawnee and improve a great
deal. Brandon had a really strong senior year, running very
well at the SVC meet and the Regional meet at Pickerington
North. Brandon advanced to the state meet for the first time
which is a plus to have some big race experience coming to
college."
While attending Shawnee State, Magill plans to major in
Education.
Shawnee State competes
in the Mid-South Conference. In their inaugural season (2010) in
the Mid-South, the Bears captured their first ever conference
title and earned their sixth trip to the NAIA National Meet. At
the NAIA National Meet, Shawnee State finished 4th overall for
the second consecutive year.
