May 26 - May 28 @ NAIA National Championship Meet
Michael Owen placed third in the marathon at the NAIA National Championship meet in Marion, Indiana over the weekend. Owen ran the 26.2 mile course in a time of 2:30:07.40, finishing less than three minutes behind the winner Daniel Tubei of Park University.

Owen wasn't the only Bear competing at the NAIA National Meet. Sara Armstrong ran a 17:33.52 in the prelims of the 5,000 meter run to qualify for the finals. In the finals, Armstrong placed 16th with a time of 18:20.21. 

Brad Liston ran the men's 5,000 meter and placed 18th in the prelims with a time of 15:02.06. 

Galen Dills and Chuck Wentz competed in the 10,000 meter run. Dills placed 32nd overall in a time of 31:46.82, while Wentz finished 34th with a time of 31:49.48.

 
November 20 @ NAIA National Meet
The Shawnee State men’s cross country team placed fourth at the NAIA National Championship in Vancouver, Washington again this year. Galen Dills was the first Bear to finish, with a time of 25:45. Michael Owen finished in 26 minutes flat, placing 40th overall. Keegan Rathkamp was close behind, placing 42nd with a time of 26:02. Chuck Wentz finished 4th at 26:27 and Josh Linkous rounded out the top five at 26:36. [Results]

Shawnee State women’s cross country team placed 25th at the NAIA National Championship in Vancouver, Washington this year, their second time competing in the National Championship in school history. Sara Armstrong was the first finisher on the team with a time of 19:06, placing 71st out of 331. Brittney Lipira finished second, placing 147th (105th) with a time of 19:40. Kasey Hosier was third, 171/121, with a time of 19:47. Freshmen Sarah Ruggles and Ashley Peters finished out the top five, with times of 20:21 and 20:41, respectively.  [Results]

 
November 6 @ Mid-South Conference Meet (Shawnee State University)
The NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State men's cross country team ran a spectacular race as nine runners ran in the top 10.  The Bears blew the competition away as they amassed a perfect score of 15 to take home their first regular season championship and win the Mid-South Conference in their inaugural.  Georgetown College finished second with 64 points. 

The Bears dominated the race from the beginning.  Senior Keegan Rathkamp (Chillicothe, OH) led the Bears as he finished in a course record time of 25:06.  Sophomore Galen Dills (Chillicothe, OH) finished second in a time of 25:13, while senior Michael Owen (Reedsville, OH) finished third in a time of 25:26.  Freshman Brad Liston (Circleville, OH) finished the course in a time of 25:30 to take fourth, while senior Josh Linkous (South Webster, OH) ran a personal best of 25:31 to place fifth.  Rio Grande's Nick Wilson broke up the Bears' scoring as he placed sixth in a time 25:42.  Rounding out the Bears scoring were senior Chuck Wentz (Proctorville, OH) and freshman Blake Wysocki (Toledo, OH).  Wentz completed the 8,000 in a time of 26:06, while Wysocki posted a time of 26:25.  Junior Reece Brown (Lucasville, OH) and freshman Adam Schroeder (Shelby, OH) also place in the top 10 with times of 26:39 and 26:42. 

Shawnee State top nine runners earned Mid-South Conference recognition.

October 25 @ Great Lakes Challenge
The NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State Bears had a stellar performance at the Great Lakes Challenge at Aquinas College on Saturday as the Bears took home the title with 45 points out of 28 teams.  The Bears finished ahead of four nationally ranked teams.  Host, No. 7 ranked Aquinas, finished second with 89 points, while St. Francis (IL), who is receiving votes, finished 3rd with 106 points.  No. 24 ranked Cedarville finished fourth with 108 points and finished fifth was #20 Olivet Nazarene with a score of 184. 

Four of the Bears top seven runners raced the 8000 meter course in personal records.  Seniors Keegan Rathkamp and Michael Owen led the Bears with third and fourth place finishes, completing the course in 24:46 and 24:47.  Sophomore Galen Dills knocked 35 seconds off his previous best to finish seventh overall in a time of 24:56.  Freshman Brad Liston completed the course in a personal best of 25:12 to finish 13th.  Freshman Blake Wysocki placed 18th overall in a personal record of 25:24, while senior Josh Linkous ran 25:57 to place 33rd.  Senior Chuck Wentz rounded out the scoring for the Bears placing 44th in a personal best of 26:00.

Eight other Bears finished the course in personal records; including seniors Eric Holbrook and Weston Thobaben, junior Reece Brown, sophomores Eli Gerlach and Brandon Brown, and freshmen Jeremy Anderson, Adam Schroeder and Jordan Selbee. [Results]

 
October 8 @ Shawnee State Invitational
NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State won their eight consecutive Shawnee State Invitational, as they finished five runners in the top nine to accumulate a team score of 24.  Cedarville University finished second with 41 points.

Lindsey Wilson's Jairus Kipkemoi won the event in a new meet record of 25:11.  Kipkemoi broke the old meet record held by SSU's Keegan Rathkamp's record by one second.  Senior Michael Owen led the Bears as he finished second overall in 25:18.  Senior Keegan Rathkamp finished third in 25:28 and sophomore Galen Dills placed fifth running the 8,000 meters in 25:56.  Freshman Brad Liston finished behind Dills for sixth place in 26:07.  Senior Josh Linkous placed in the top-10, finishing ninth overall and running the course in 26:22.  Rounding out the scoring for the Bears is freshman Blake Wysocki finishing in a time of 26:55 to place 15th overall and junior Reece Brown running 27:00 minutes to place 16th.  [Results

 
October 1 @ All-Ohio
The Shawnee State men's cross country team took advantage of great running conditions and weather with a stellar performance at the All-Ohio Meet at Cedarville University on Friday afternoon.  The Bears, which are ranked No. 4 in the NAIA Coaches Poll, won the Division II/NAIA Title and finished 6th overall, only behind NCAA Division I schools.  Shawnee State scored 151 points, finishing eight points ahead of NAIA No. 1 ranked Malone University.  This marks the first time in school history that the Bears have beaten Malone.

The Bears not only beat the Pioneers, but four of the seven runners for Shawnee State posted career times on the course.  Senior Michael Owen led the Bears with a sixth place finish in a field of 263 runners.  He ran the 8,000 meters in a personal best time of 24:42.  Owen shed 51 seconds off of his previous best time of 25:33.  With the time of 24:42, Owen becomes SSU's second fastest runner posting the second fastest time in school history.  Senior Keegan Rathkamp, who owns SSU's fastest time of 24:37, finished second for the Bears.  He placed 27th overall in a time of 25:18.  Rathkamp's time is the fifth fastest time in SSU history.  Freshman Brad Liston ran a personal best of 25:21 to place 30th overall and becomes the Bears' third fastest runner in history.  Sophomore Galen Dills also posted a personal record of 25:31 on the course to finish 36th overall.  Freshman Blake Wysocki finished 52nd overall in a personal record time of 25:49.  Seniors Josh Linkous and Chuck Wentz rounded out the scoring for the Bears.  Linkous finished 82nd in a time of 26:15, while Wentz finished 113th in 26:43.  [Results]

 
September 18 @ Iona College Meet of Champions
The 3rd ranked Shawnee State men's cross country team finished 9th out of 19 teams at the Iona College Meet of Champions on Saturday morning.  The Bears finished with 209 points, finishing ahead of Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Youngstown State.  La Salle won the event with 93 points, while Penn finished with 108 points for 2nd place. 

Senior Michael Owen led the Bears for the second consecutive week.  He finished 12th overall, running a career-best 25:33 and moves up to 3rd on Shawnee State all-time fastest runners list.  Senior Keegan Rathkamp finished 34th overall in a time of 26:08, while senior Josh Linkous finished 47th with a time of 26:16.  Sophomore Galen Dills and freshman Brad Liston finished 57th and 59th overall in times of 26:24 and 26:25.  Sophomore Blake Wysocki and freshman Adam Schroeder rounded out the scoring for the Bears.  Wysocki finished 79th in a time of 26:45 and Schroeder placed 96th in a time of 27:04.  [Results]

 
September 4 @ Flyer 5K Challenge (Dayton University)
The 3rd ranked Shawnee State men's cross country team opened the 2010 season claiming the Intercollegiate Championship at the Meijer Flyer 5K Challenge held by Dayton University on Saturday. 

Shawnee State dominated their field capturing the title with a team score of 18.  Ohio Northern finished 2nd with 56 points and Wittenberg placed 3rd with 80 points.  Fellow Mid-South school Rio Grande finished 4th overall with a team total of 122 points.

Mid-South runner of the week, senior Michael Owen, led the Bears with a 9th place finish.  Owen finished the 5K course in a time of 15:21.  Sophomore Galen Dills finished 12th overall in a time of 15:31.  Seniors Josh Linkous and Chuck Wentz finished the course in 15:44 and 15:45 to place 21st and 22nd overall, while freshman Brad Liston placed 25th in his college debut in a time of 15:51.  Sophomore Blake Wysocki placed 29th with a time of 15:54 and junior Reece Brown rounded out the scoring for the Bears as he placed 44th with a time of 16:10.
