Championship Meet |

Shawnee State, ranked 20th in the
NAIA, finished 21st
out of 28 teams at the NAIA National Championship
Meet. Defending national
champions Virginia Intermont won the event.
Dirk Hollar led the Bears with a 59th
place finish. He covered the 8k-course in a
career-best time of 25:51. It is the second fastest
time ever recorded by a Shawnee State runner.
Hollar is the first Bear to run in the National
Championship Meet all four years of his career.
Larry Gardner finished 112th in 26:23.
Scott LeMaster (26:41), Kris Jones (26:51), and Josh
Pierce (27:00) rounded out the scoring for Shawnee
State.
This marks the third consecutive year
Shawnee State has competed in the National
Championship Meet. Shawnee State finished 18th
in 2004 and 22nd in 2003. |

November 5 @ AMC/NAIA Region IX
Championship Meet |
|
For the third straight year, Shawnee
State finished 2nd at the AMC/NAIA Region IX
Championship Meet. The finish qualifies the 20th
ranked Bears for their 3rd straight trip to the NAIA
National Championship Meet. Larry Gardner placed
4th overall in a time of 26:03 and earned 1st Team
All-American Mideast Conference honors. Dirk
Hollar was 9th in 26:32. He was named 2nd Team
All-AMC. Josh Pierce (27:27) and Kris Jones
(27:31) placed 26th and 27th respectively. Corey
Snyder rounded out the scoring for the Bears with a 29th
place finish in 27:35. |

October 14 @ Wilmington Fall Classic |
|
Shawnee State, ranked 20th in the NAIA,
placed 3rd of 16 teams at the Wilmington Fall Classic.
Larry Gardner ran the second fastest time ever for an
SSU runner as he finished 4th overall. He covered
the 8k-course in a time of 25:56. Dirk Hollar
recorded a personal best time of 26:12 to finish 8th
overall. Jeremiah topped his personal best time by
more than a minute as he finished 16th in 26:44.
Kris Jones finished 19th in a career-best 26:50.
Chris Roush rounded out the scoring in 22nd place with a
time of 26:53. |

October 7 @ All-Ohio Meet |
|
Shawnee State, ranked 20th in the NAIA, placed
14th out of 41 teams at the All-Ohio Meet hosted by Ohio
Wesleyan. Shawnee State was 4th out of 11 teams in
the NAIA/NCAA D. II division. Larry Gardner paced
the Bear with a time of 26:54. He was 32nd overall
and 8th in the division. Dirk Hollar ran 52nd/13th
in a time of 27:27. Kris Jones covered the
8k-course in 27:52 to finish 74th overall and 20th in
the division. Scott LeMaster (28:20) and Jeremiah
Morrow (28:28) rounded out the scoring for the Bears.
Ohio State won the overall event and Malone College won
the NAIA/NCAA Division II grouping. |

October 1 @ Rio Grande Invitational |
|
Shawnee State University Men's Cross
Country Team, ranked 21st in the NAIA, placed 2nd out of
7 teams at the Rio Grande Invitational. NCAA
Division II Alderson Broaddus edged out the Bears with
27 points. Shawnee State finished with 34 points. Larry Gardner
won the event with a time of 26:29. Dirk Hollar
placed 3rd in 26:36. Scott LeMaster was 8th in
26:44 and Kris Jones was 10th in 27:23. Chris
Roush placed 12th in 27:34. Caleb Arnold (28:04)
and Jeremiah Morrow (27:58) recorded personal best times
to finish 17th and 19th respectively. |

September 24 @ Greater Louisville
Classic |
|
Shawnee State, ranked 25th in the NAIA,
placed 18th out of 35 teams at the Greater Louisville
Classic. The field featured 12 NCAA Division I
teams and 8 teams nationally ranked in the NAIA.
The University of Tennessee won the event, which is held
on the same course as the NAIA National Championship
Meet. Larry Gardner paced the Bears in 25:59, the
2nd fastest time ever by an SSU runner. Dirk
Hollar's time of 26:27 ranks 19th on Shawnee State's
all-time list. Scott LeMaster recorded a
career-best time of 26:33. Kris Jones covered the
8k-course in 27:05, topping his career best time by 18
seconds. Josh Pierce (27:21), Chris Roush (27:30),
and Caleb Arnold (28:16) rounded out the scoring for
Shawnee State. |

September 17 @ Winthrop Invitational |
|
Shawnee
State, ranked 24th in the NAIA, took
five of the top eight spots as they defeated the
twelve-team field at the Greater Louisville Classic. Larry Gardner (27:07), Scott LeMaster (27:12), Kris Jones (27:42), and Dirk Hollar
(27:52) took second through fifth places respectively.
Chris Roush placed eighth in a time of 28:21. Jeremiah
Morrow was eleventh in 28:36 and Caleb Arnold was
fourteenth in 28:58. |

September 10 @ Centre Invitational |
|
Shawnee
State, ranked 22nd in the NAIA, placed 2nd of 5 teams at
the Centre Invitational. Larry Gardner paced the
22nd ranked Shawnee State Men’s Team. He
completed the 8k course in a time of 27:27. Scott
LeMaster finished 10th in 28:02 followed
closely by Dirk Hollar in 28:06. Chris Roush placed 15th
in a time of 28:30. Kris Jones rounded out the
scoring with a 17th place finish in 28:40.
Jeremiah Morrow ran a personal best time of 28:58 to
place 15th. |

September 2 @ Shawnee State
Invitational |
|
Shawnee State, ranked 22nd
in the NAIA, opened the 2005 season by winning the Shawnee State
Invitational at Earl Thomas Conley Park. It is
the third consecutive SSU Invitational Championship for the Bears,
and their 4th in 7 years. Scott LeMaster paced the event with a second place
finish in a time of 27:42. Dirk Hollar placed third overall in
27:47. Larry Gardner placed fifth in 28:01 and Chris Roush was
eighth overall in a time of 28:31. Caleb Arnold rounded out the
scoring for the Bears with an eleventh place finish in 28:55. Point Park’s Jessie Bender was the overall champion.
He covered the 5-mile course in 27:36. Shawnee State finished ahead of Rio Grande and Davis
Elkins. The University of Charleston was fourth overall.
Georgetown College rounded out the top five. |
