Coach's Comments -- "Dirk
has the most heart of anyone on the team and is a proven team
leader. If he stays healthy, Dirk could be 1st team
All-Conference and have a shot at the school record. Dirk
should also qualify for nationals as an individual."
2005 Season -- Dirk
had five top-ten finishes on season. He placed 3rd at Shawnee
State Invitational in a time of 27:47. He ran a career-best at
the NAIA National Championship. He ran a time of 25:51, which placed
him 2nd on Shawnee State fastest times. He finished 8th at the
AMC/NAIA Region IX Championship Meet and earning him 2nd-Team All-AMC
honors.
2004 Season -- Dirk had one
top-ten finish on the season. He placed 7th at the Rio Grande
Invitational in a time of 27:35. He placed 18th overall at the
AMC Championship Meet and just missed earning all-conference
recognition. His best time of the year (26:54) came at the
NAIA National Championship Meet.
2003 Season --
After an extremely successful freshman season, Dirk struggled with a
leg injury throughout his sophomore year. He ran a season best
time of 26:32 at the Wilmington Invitational. He finished in
the fourth spot on the team at the NAIA National Championship meet.
2002 Season -- Dirk had a
tremendous freshman season as he compiled six top-10 finishes,
including a 10th place finish at the AMC/NAIA Region IX meet which
qualified him for the NAIA Championship meet. He landed on
SSU's Top-25 Fastest Times list on three occasions and earned
All-AMC honors in the process. His time of 26:21 is the
fastest ever recorded by an SSU freshman.
Minerva High School --
Hollar is a two-time All-State runner and a four-time
All-Conference runner. In
addition to running, Dirk also played basketball.
