Coach's Comments
-- "This
is John's senior year. It will take pages to list all of his
accomplishments! He is our #1 runner and Most Valuable
Runner! He was our first AMC All-Conference runner and NAIA
National Cross Country Championship qualifier.
He holds 14 of our top 25 fastest times! John has set high
goals for his senior year and we will work hard to help him achieve
them! He wants to run in the low 25:00s! He is our
team leader, and we could not have a better one! Go Big Red!"
2003 Season -- John had five top ten finishes for the
year, one of them an individual meet championship at the Hagan Stone
Classic. He earned 2nd Team All AMC Conference honors and ran
in the NAIA National Championship meet. He blasted his
previous career best time of 26:05 at the Friendship Invitational
with a new career best and SSU record time of 25:45. He
currently holds 12 of the school's Top Fastest 25 Times. He
served as Team Captain, and was awarded the team's MVP for the
second season in a row.
2002 Season --
John had a career-year as a junior. He recorded ten top 10
finishes and captured two meet championships ... at Asbury and
Shawnee State. He ran seven of
the 25 fastest times recorded at SSU. He earned All-AMC honors
for his 9th place finish at the AMC/NAIA Region IX Championship
Meet. He ran a school record 26:05 at Wilmington. He became the first SSU runner to
qualify to run in the NAIA National Championship Meet. He won
the team MVP Award.
2001 Season -- John
captured three meet championships and had seven top 10
finishes. He recorded six of the fastest times in SSU history
including the school record performance of 26:16 at the Wilmington
Invitational.
2000 Season -- John had
six top 10 finishes in 2000. That was more than anyone else on
the team. He holds three of the top 10 fastest times run in
Shawnee State Cross Country history. His personal best time of
27:23 came at the Shawnee State Invitational.
Minerva High School -- Williams
was a captain on his cross-country and track teams. He received many
awards including All-League, League MVP, 2-time Team MVP, and 1st
Team Division II All-Ohio. He also holds his high school record in
the 5K, one mile, and two mile.
