SIGN CHESAPEAKE'S COLIN KENNEDY

Chesapeake High School's Colin Kennedy has signed a letter
of intent to play basketball for the Bears at Shawnee State
University.
"Colin and SSU
are great fits," states Bears' Head Coach Jeff Hamilton. "He
is a super young man who has the talent and work ethic to
excel at the next level. He immediately gives us additional
size and athleticism in the post. Colin played AAU with
Jacob Ison and will give us two dynamic bigs who can step in
and play immediately."
Kennedy is
four-year letterman in basketball at Chesapeake High School.
As a senior he helped guide the Panthers to a 23-2 record as
he averaged over 12 points and nine rebounds per game. He
also shot 82% from the charity strip. As a junior, the
Panthers went 21-5 and Kennedy averaged 10 points and eight
rebounds a game.
"I'm very
excited to have the opportunity to work with Colin. He comes
from a great high school program where Coach Davis does a
tremendous job preparing high school athletes for the
demands of college around a winning and successful
environment."
Shawnee State competes in the Mid-South Conference. During the
2010-2011 season the Bears compiled a season record of 9-21.

RACELAND'S
FARLEY SIGNS WITH THE BEARS

Raceland-Worthington High School's Tyler Farley has signed a
letter of intent to continue his basketball career at
Shawnee State University.
Farley is a
four-year letter winner in basketball. From the point guard
position he averaged over 14 points, six assists and four
rebounds as a senior. He was named an Kentucky/Virginia
All-Star his senior year and East Kentucky All-Star his
junior and senior seasons. Farley was also named the Heart
of Champions Tournament Most Valuable Player.
"Tyler is
another great addition to this year's recruiting class,"
says SSU Head Coach Jeff Hamilton. "He is an excellent
shooter and has played both guard positions in high school
which will be very beneficial making the transition to
college. He will provide depth as a freshman who has the
toughness and strength to compete with our returners."
Farley also
letter four years in football and was named All-EKC,
All-Area and All-District twice.
Shawnee State competes in the Mid-South Conference. During the
2010-2011 season the Bears compiled a season record of 9-21.

INK LEWIS COUNTY'S TERRENCE SMITH

Lewis County
High School's Terrence Smith has signed a letter of intent
to continue his basketball career for the Bears as a member
of the 2011-2012 recruiting class.
"Terrence has
great potential for the Bears," says Bears' Head Coach Jeff
Hamilton. "He really elevates on his jump shot and has the
quickness to play at this level."
Smith was a
four-year letter winner in basketball for the Lions. As
point guard, he averaged over 16 points per game as a
senior. During his junior year he averaged over 15 points.
"He will have to
make the adjustment to how physical the game is and playing
strictly at the point. He has overcome a lot of adversity to
make it here and I expect him to work hard to make himself
an excellent collegiate basketball player. We have added a
super young man to our program!" remarks Hamilton.

SIGN FAIRFIELD STANDOUT CHRIS COX

Fairfield High
School's Chris Cox has signed a letter of intent to continue
his basketball career at Shawnee State University.
Cox was a four-year power forward for the Lions under Head
Coach Matt Carson and averaged double-figures each year. As
a junior he averaged over 22 points a game. During his
senior campaign his averaged over 18 points and eight
rebounds per contest.
"Chris is a
great addition to our recruiting class," states SSU Head
Coach Jeff Hamilton. "His versatility and athleticism will
allow him to step in and contribute immediately. As he
matures and fills into his frame, we expect big things for
him. He has a good feel for the game and a knack for scoring
and rebounding. We are really excited for the opportunity to
work with him and expand his game."

BEARS PICK UP ELLIOT COUNTY FORWARD JACOB
ISON

Elliot County
High School power forward Jacob Ison has signed a letter of
intent to continue his basketball career at Shawnee State.
Ison a
three-year letterwinner in basketball has helped guide the
Lions to records of 33-3 as a sophomore and 20-8 as a
junior. As a senior, the Lions have accumulated a
record of 17-9 including defeating Fleming County in the
opening round of the 16th Region Tournament to advance.
As a junior, he
earned all-district, all-region, all-area recognition as
well as being named to the All "A" Classic All-Tournament
Team as he averaged a double-double, 15 points and 12
rebounds. As a senior he averages 19 points, 11
rebounds, two assist and two blocks per game.
