Jeff
Hamilton enters his eighth season as head men’s basketball coach at
Shawnee State University. Hamilton came to Shawnee State as an
assistant coach before the 2001-2002 season and helped guide the
Bears to a 22-10 record, including a 13-5 conference mark.
Hamilton played basketball at The College of Wooster and compiled a
91-21 record during his four-year career. After receiving his
Bachelor’s degree in History, his coaching career began at Illinois
College, where he served as an assistant under Mike Worrell.
While
at IC he also served as the head women’s soccer coach and head men’s
golf coach.
In
1999, Hamilton joined the men’s basketball staff of Ohio University
as a graduate assistant. He earned a Master’s degree in Physical
Education and remained on the staff at OU as an assistant coach
during the 2000-2001 season. In 2001 Hamilton served as Geno Ford’s
assistant coach for one year before taking the helm at SSU in
September of 2002.
In
addition to coaching men’s basketball, Hamilton is also the athletic
director. Jeff resides in Portsmouth with his wife Rhonda and their
son Luke.
