February 21 @ Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State came up short in its upset bid over #10 Mt. Vernon Nazarene in the opening round of the American Mideast Conference Tournamenty.  Mt. Vernon topped the Bears 69-66 in a game that featured 12 lead changes and 8 ties.  Shawnee State led 20-16 with 8:47 to play in the first half.  Mt. Vernon went on a 12-0 run over the next four minutes to take its largest lead of the contest at 28-20.  Shawnee State trailed until an Aaron Davis 3-pointer tied the game at 50 with 10:47 to play.  Davis made 3 free throws to give the Bears a 65-64 lead with 3:07 remaining.  Ben Falkenberg gave Mt. Vernon the lead for good at 66-65 with 49 seconds on the clock.  Davis led Shawnee State with 24 points and 5 assists.  Josh Reed had 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Justin Brinkman added 12 points and 7 rebounds.  Falkenberg and Ryan Seesholtz had 12 points apiece for Mt. Vernon.  Mark Hess and Gregg Connor had 11 points each.  Steve Mayes had 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Shawnee State was 25-of-54 from the field for 46%.  The Bears made 6-of-15 three-pointers and 10-of-16 foul shots.  Mt. February 18 vs. Urbana

Shawnee State closed out the regular season with an 80-74 win over Urbana.  Justin Patrick and Aaron Davis led Shawnee State with 16 points apiece.  Patrick added 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.  Justin Brinkman had 15 points and 9 rebounds.  Josh Reed added 13 points.  Allen Drake had 11 points to lead Urbana.  Julian Bernard and Taft Robinson had 9 points each.  Shawnee State shot 48% (31-64) from the field compared to 39% (24-61) for Urbana.  The Bears were 4-of-11 from beyond the arc and 14-of-26 at the foul line.  Urbana connected on 9-of-28 three-pointers and 17-of-22 free throws.  SSU dominated the glass 52-28.  Urbana kept the game close by scoring 19 points on 18 Shawnee State turnovers. [Box Score]

 
February 15 @ Walsh

Shawnee State lost to Walsh 61-69.  Josh Reed led Shawnee State with 23 points.  Justin Brinkman had 11 points and 8 rebounds.  Allassondro Roberts chipped in with 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Adam Lesch led all scorers with 26 points.  Corey Jones added 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot 43% (26-60) from the field.  Walsh was 24-for-48 for 50%.  Shawnee State struggled from beyond the arc shooting making only 1-for-6 while Walsh shot 7-for-21.  [Box Score]

 
February 10 vs. Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State snapped a three-game losing skid with a 75-74 upset over 12th ranked Mt. Vernon Nazarene.  Shawnee State shot 60% from the field in the first period and built a 46-36 halftime lead.  The Bears cooled down to 48% shooting in the second half.   In addition, Mt. Vernon made 10-of-12 shots from the free throw line compared to 4-of-6 for Shawnee State.  The combination of the two allowed Mt. Vernon to tie the game 66-66 with 5:45 to play.  Mt. Vernon held a 72-67 lead with 2:15 remaining.  A Josh Reed three-pointer cut the lead to 72-70.  Ben Falkenberg scored Mt. Vernon’s final basket of the game with 48 seconds left on the clock.  A 15-foot jumper by Allassondro Roberts followed by a Falkenberg miss gave the Bears a shot at the win with 16 seconds left in the in contest.  Aaron Davis drained a three-pointer from the left wing to put the Bears up one.  Mt. Vernon got the ball back with 6 seconds on the clock, but Falkenberg lost control of the ball as he drove the lane.  Justin Brinkman came up with the loose ball to secure the win for the Bears.  Aaron Davis led Shawnee State with 22 points.  Josh Reed had 17 points.  Justin Patrick chipped in with 13 points and 6 rebounds.  Justin Brinkman added 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Ben Falkenberg had 21 points for the Cougars.  Steve Mayes had 17 points.  Ryan Seesholtz added 10 points and 5 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot 55% (30-55) from the field.  Mt. Vernon was 28-for-59 for 48%.  Shawnee State was 9-of-19 from beyond the arc while Mt. Vernon was just 3-for-15.  Mt. February 8 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State lost to the University of Rio Grande 72-70.  Shawnee State held a 59-43 lead with 14:23 remaining in the game.  Rio Grande went on a 13-0 run over the next five minutes to pull within three at 59-56.  Rio Grande took its first lead at 69-67 with 5:09 to play.  Justin Brinkman’s shot as time expired would have tied the game, but glanced off the front of the rim.  Josh Reed led Shawnee State with 30 points.  Aaron Davis had 18 points.  Justin Patrick chipped in with 8 points and 7 rebounds.  Brandon Every led Rio Grande with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Brett Beucler and Chris Dinwiddie added 17 points apiece.  For the game, Shawnee State shot 45% (25-56) from the field.  The Bears blistered the nets in the first half shooting 61%.  They managed to make just 8-of-28 field goals for 29% in the second half.  Rio Grande shot 41% (26-63) from the field.  Rio won the rebounding battle 40-34.  [Box Score]

 
February 3 @ Cedarville

Shawnee State lost to 17th ranked Cedarville University 97-74.  Shawnee State entered the game shooting 38% from beyond the arc and averaging nearly six made three-point shots per game.  Cedarville’s perimeter defense clamped down and limited the Bears to just one make on 18 attempts.  Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets connected on 14-of-29 attempts from beyond the arc. Josh Reed led the Bears with 20 points.  Aaron Davis added 12 points.  Justin Patrick and Justin Brinkman had 11 points apiece.  Guy Rathmell led Cedarville with 19 points and 6 rebounds.  Chris Walker and Grant Walker had 13 points each.  Ricardo Alliman chipped in with 12 points and 9 rebounds.  [Box Score]

 
January 30 @ Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State lost to Ohio Dominican 82-66.  Shawnee State held a brief 7-4 lead early in the first half.  Ohio Dominican used a 12-0 run over a five-minute stretch to take a 16-7 advantage.  The Bears closed to within 22-19 with three minutes to play in the first half, but trailed by double digits throughout the entire second period.  Aaron Davis led Shawnee State with 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Josh Reed had 14 points.  Bryan West had 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Brian Busch and Donald Suel had 19 points apiece.  Shawnee State connected on 25-of-56 attempts from the field for 45%. January 27 @ Tiffin

The Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team defeated Malone College 69-64.  In a game that featured a combined 48 turnovers, Shawnee State was able to take a 13-0 lead with 11:27 to play in the first half.  The Bears were able to build that lead to 20-4 an ultimately took a 28-13 halftime lead.  The Bears defense limited Tiffin to 4-20 shooting for the half and forced 11 Dragon turnovers.  Though Shawnee State committed 15 second half turnovers, Tiffin was unable to get any closer than 8 points the remainder of the game.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 21 points.  Aaron Davis added 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Alex Strok led Tiffin with 10 points.  Ryan Pessell had 8 points and 5 rebounds.  Shawnee State connected on 16-of-35 attempts from the field for 46% while holding Tiffin to 26% (11-42) shooting.  Shawnee State out rebounded Tiffin 33-25.  Shawnee State scored 22 points off of 22 Tiffin turnovers.  Tiffin converted 26 SSU turnovers into 17 points.  [Box Score]

 
January 23 vs. Malone

Shawnee State defeated Malone College 69-64.  Shawnee State jumped out to a 12-2 lead before Malone came back to tie the game at eighteen.  The game featured 6 additional ties and 8 lead changes.  The game was tied 62-62 with 46 seconds to play when a disputed call led to a technical foul on Malone’s bench.  Aaron Davis drained both free throws to give Shawnee State the lead for good.  Josh Reed led Shawnee State with 21 points.  Aaron Davis had 17 points.  Justin Brinkman chipped in with 11 points.  Shane Humphrey led Malone with 22 points and 7 rebounds.  Linc Rottman had 13 points.  Ben Carver added 12 points.  Shawnee State shot 41% (18-44) from the field.  The Bears were 8-of-25 from beyond the arc and 25-of-33 from the foul line.  Malone connected on 20-of-50 attempts from the field for 40%.  The Pioneers made 6-of-23 three-pointers and 18-of-25 free throws.  [Box Score]

Shawnee State lost to 8th ranked Walsh University 73-46.  Shawnee State led 12-11 with 10:23 to play in the first half.  Walsh went on an 11-0 run over the next two minutes and the Bears were never able to get closer than 8 points the remainder of the game.  Josh Reed was the only Bear to reach double figures with 12 points.  Justin Patrick had 9 points and 8 rebounds.  Eder Araujo led Walsh with 19 points and 16 rebounds.  Corey Jones had 13 points.  Adam Lesch and Jason Hicks had 11 points each.  Shawnee State shot just 35% (18-52) from the field compared to 41% (26-64) for Walsh.  Shawnee State connected on just 2-of-15 three-point attempts.  The Bears were 8-of-11 from the foul line.  Walsh was 7-of-18 from beyond the arc and 14-of-19 from the free throw line.  Walsh won the rebounding battle 45-32.  [Box Score]

Shawnee State picked up its second straight AMC road win with a 67-63 victory over Urbana.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 17 points on the night.  Justin Patrick chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds.   Matt Poole led Urbana with 18 points and 6 rebounds.  Allen Drake added 10 points.   Shawnee State connected on 29-of-52 attempts from the field for 56%.  The Bears were just 3-of-9 from beyond the arc and a dismal 6-of-18 from the free throw line.  SSU won the rebounding battle 35-27.  Urbana shot 47% (27-58) from the field overall.  The Blue Knights made 7-of-22 attempts from beyond the arc and 2-of-5 from the stripe.  [Box Score]

 
January 13 @ Wilberforce

Shawnee State defeated Wilberforce University 81-78.  Shawnee State led 76-66 with 1:18 to play.  Aided by 3 SSU turnovers and 3 missed free throws, Wilberforce was able to pull within 79-78 on a Rawlston Charles 3-pointer with just over two seconds on the clock.  Justin Phillips was fouled immediately on the in-bounds and made two free throws to secure the final margin.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 29 points and 6 rebounds.  He was 8-of-21 overall from the field and 10-of-11 from the foul line.  Aaron Davis had 25 points on the night.  He was 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and 16-of-18 from the free throw line.  His 16 made free throws tied a school record.  Rawlston Charles led Wilberforce with 16 points.  Mike Menchaca and Corry Bailey had 14 points apiece.  Shawnee State connected on 18-of-45 attempts from the field for 40%.  The Bears were 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.  SSU connected on 39 of a school record 50 attempts from the charity stripe.  Wilberforce was 30-of-63 from the field for 48%.  The Bulldogs connected on 9-of-18 three-pointers and 9-of-17 free throw attempts.  [Box Score]

 
January 9 vs. Cedarville

Shawnee State lost to 14th ranked Cedarville University 93-90 in overtime.  Shawnee State trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half and trailed 69-59 with 3:16 to play.  The Bears closed to within 72-70 with 46-seconds remaining.  Cedarville extended the lead to 76-72 when Maicol Venter fouled Justin Brinkman battling for a rebound with 2.3 seconds on the clock.  Brinkman made the first free throw to close within three.  He intentionally missed the second free throw and the ball was tipped to Josh Reed who buried a 3-pointer as time expired to send the game to overtime.  A three-pointer by Eric Leininger put Cedarville up for good 81-78 with 4:15 remaining in the extra frame.  Aaron Davis led the Bears with a career-high 32 points.  Josh Reed added 30 points and 5 rebounds.  Justin Brinkman had 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Ryan Short led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points and 9 rebounds.  Chris Walker had 18 points.  Eric Leininger chipped in with 14 points and Daniel Rose added 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Shawnee State made 31-of-71 attempts from the field for 42.5%.  The Bears were 11-of-28 from beyond the arc and 17-of-24 from the foul line.  Cedarville shot 51% (31-61) overall and 48% (11-23) on three-pointers.  The Yellow Jackets were 20-of-34 from the free throw line.  [Box Score]

Shawnee State lost at Mt. Vernon Nazarene 92-77.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 24 points.  Aaron Davis had 19 points.  Justin Brinkman added 10 points and 9 rebounds.  Ben Falkenberg led Mt. Vernon with 27 points.  Dan Borcherdt had 20 points.  Steve Mayes had 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot 45.5% (30-66) from the field while allowing Mt. Vernon to connect on 30-of-56 attempts for 54%.  Mt. Vernon scored 20 points on 13 Shawnee State turnovers.  Mt. Shawnee State defeated Malone College 80-77.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 21 points and 6 rebounds.  Aaron Davis added a career-high 20 points.  Justin Patrick chipped in with 11 points.  Tyler Renner's 22 points led the Pioneers and gave him 1015 for his career.  Ben Carver added 18 points for Malone.  Shawnee State shot 50% (30-60) from the field compared to 36% (19-53) for Malone.  Malone managed to stay in the game at the free throw line.  The Pioneers converted 34-of-39 attempts at the stripe.  Shawnee State went to the line just 20 times, making thirteen.  [Box Score]

 
December 30 vs. Elon (@ Kent State)

Shawnee State lost to Elon College 75-53 in the consolation game of the Kent State Classic.  The Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead, only to see the Phoenix go on a 15-4 run of its own to take a 15-11 lead with 12:08 to play in the half.  Shawnee State managed to tie the game 36-36 five minutes into the second half.  Elon went on a 23-3 run over the next eight minutes aided by 5 Shawnee State turnovers and 5 missed free throws.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 16 points.  Justin Brinkman had 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Chris Chalko led Elon with 23 points.  LeVonn Jordan and Brett James had 14 points each for the Phoenix.  Shawnee State connected on 22-of-53 attempts from the field for 41.5%.  Elon was 27-of-58 for 47%.  Elon scored 18 points on 21 SSU turnovers.

December 29 @ Kent State

Shawnee State lost to Kent State 70-47 in the opening round of the Kent State Classic.  The Bears played tough early, trailing just 16-13 halfway through the first period.  KSU went on a 12-0 run over the next 4 minutes to put the game out of reach.  Josh Reed was the only Bear to reach double figures.  He had 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.  Aaron Mauk chipped in with 9 points.  Omni Smith had 13 points for Kent State.  Mike McKee had 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot 42% (16-38) from the field compared to 46% (27-59) for Kent State.  The Golden Flashes scored 20 points on 20 Shawnee State turnovers.  [Box Score]

 
December 16 vs. Bluefield State (@ Rio Grande)

Shawnee State led by as many as 12 points in the first half, but wound up losing to Bluefield State 86-71on Day 2 of the Newt Oliver Classic.  Aaron Davis led the Bears with 14 points.  Josh Reed had 12 points.  Justin Brinkman chipped in with 11 points.  Kevin McDonald and Justin Patrick had 10 points each.  Chris Dixon led Bluefield State with 25 points.  Robert Sharpe had 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Shawnee State shot 53% (27-of-51) from the field.  However, the Bears were just 12-of-22 from the free throw line.  Union connected on 30-of-64 attempts from the field for 47%.  Shawnee State committed a season-high 26 turnovers.  [Box Score]

 
December 15 vs. Union (@ Rio Grande)

Shawnee State opened the Newt Oliver Classic with a 96-78 win over Union College.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 29 points and 5 rebounds.  Aaron Mauk had a career-high 15 points.  Justin Patrick had 14 points and 8 rebounds.  Kevin McDonald chipped in with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  David Vance led Union with 27 points.  Max Hunter had 18 points.  Shawnee State shot 53% (31-of-58) from the field including 58% (7-of-12) from beyond the arc.  The Bears held Union to 41% (25-of-61) shooting.  Shawnee State out rebounded Union 42-26.  [Box Score]

 
December 12 @ UC-Clermont

Shawnee State squandered a 30-point second half lead but held on to defeat UC-Clermont 88-80.  Shawnee State held a 58-28 lead just minutes into the second half.  However, abundant fouls and poor Shawnee State free throw shooting allowed UC-Clermont to gradually get back into the game.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 21 points.  Aaron Mauk had a career-high 14 points.  Allassondro Roberts chipped in with 12 points and Justin Brinkman added 11 points.  Stefan Dunn led UC-Clermont with 38 points.  Maurice Brown added 15 points.  Shawnee State shot 54% (31-57) from the field overall and 45% (10-22) from beyond the arc.  The Bears entered the game shooting 72% from the foul line, but managed to convert on just 16 of 29 attempts in the game.  UCC made 23-of-59 attempts from the field for 39%.  Clermont made 26-of-34 free throws.  [Box Score]

 
December 9 vs. Tiffin

Shawnee State snapped a two-game losing skid with a 76-59 win over Tiffin University.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 22 points and 5 assists on the afternoon.  Justin Brinkman added 15 points and 4 rebounds.  Kevin McDonald added 10 points.  Bryan Robinson scored just one point in the game, but grabbed 10 rebounds.  Hernandez Skiver led Tiffin with 16 points.  Alex Strok chipped in with 10 points.  Shawnee State shot 57% (29-51) from the field compared to 37% (22-59) for Tiffin.  Shawnee State hit a season-high 10 three-point baskets on 17 attempts.  Tiffin scored 22 points on 22 Shawnee State turnovers.  [Box Score]

 
December 5 @ Brescia

Shawnee State lost to Brescia University 82-76.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 20 points and 5 rebounds.  Aaron Mauk had a career-high 13 points.  Allassondro Roberts chipped in with 12 points.  Dustin Neighbors led Brescia with 31 points.  He was 9-of-15 from beyond the arc and 4-of-4 from the foul line.  Doug Denton added 19 points. 

Both teams shot 51% from the field.  Shawnee State was 32-of-63 overall and 5-of-19 from beyond the arc.  Brescia connected on 24-of-47 attempts including 14-of-25 three-pointers.  Brescia converted 20-of-29 attempts from the foul line.  Shawnee State made it to the line just 11 times and made seven.  [Box Score]

 
December 2 vs. Wilberforce

Shawnee State lost to Wilberforce University 65-63.  Shawnee State held a 37-27 halftime lead.  Wilberforce came out of the locker room like a different team as the Bulldogs scored the first 10 points of the half and ultimately went on a 20-3 run to take a 47-40 lead with 12:48 to play.  The Bears scraped and clawed back into the game and led 60-56 with 2:54 remaining.  The Bears' offense over the final three minutes consisted of just 3 made free throws.  Wilberforce's Mike Menchaca scored 5 of his 10 points over the final 1:28 and pulled the Bulldogs into a 63-63 tie with 17 seconds to play.  A loose ball foul called on Shawnee State's Allassondro Roberts put Triston Kidd at the line with 2.1 seconds on the clock.  He converted both free throws and the Bears were unable to get off a shot as time expired.  Aaron Davis led the bears with 16 points.  Josh Reed had 12 points and 7 rebounds.  Scott Mills led Wilberforce with 12 points.  Shawnee State shot 40% for the game, but managed just 6-of-20 in the second half for 30%.  Meanwhile, Wilberforce went from 36% shooting in the opening period to 55% shooting in the second half.  The Bulldogs shot 45% (29-of-64) overall.  [Box Score]

 
November 28 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State University defeated The University of Rio Grande 83-75.  Shawnee State built leads of 17 points three times in the second half.  The last was 65-48 with 6:55 to play.  Aided by six Shawnee State turnovers, Rio Grande was able to cut the lead to five at 73-68 at the 2:05 mark.  The Bears converted on 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.  Josh Reed was named the Dick Hyland Player of the Game for Shawnee State.  He led the Bears with 30 points.  He was 10-of-18 from the field including 4-of-8 from the three-point line.  He was 6-of-8 from the foul line.  Aaron Davis was the only other Bear to reach double figures.  He had 16 points on the night, 9 of which came from the foul line.  Marcus Manns led Rio Grande with 30 points and earned the Dick Hyland Award.  He was 9-of-18 overall and 7-of-9 from beyond the arc.  Brandon Every had 19 points and 7 rebounds.  Travis Keefer chipped in with 11 points.  Shawnee State shot 52% (27-52) from the field compared to 40% (26-65) for Rio Grande.  Shawnee State won the rebounding battle 39-33.  The difference in the game came at the free throw line.  Shawnee State converted on 24of-29 attempts while Rio Grande was 12-of-22 from the stripe.  [Box Score]

 
November 25 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State opened American Mideast Conference play with an 84-65 win over Ohio Dominican.  Josh Reed led Shawnee State with 21 points on the afternoon.  Kevin McDonald had 14 points and 9 rebounds.  Justin Patrick added 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Aaron Davis and Bryan Robinson had 10 points apiece.  Donald Suel led Ohio Dominican with 24 points.  Sonny Statmiller had 14 points.  Brian Busch and Bryan West had 10 points each.  Shawnee State dominated the game inside.  The Bears held a 49-22 rebounding advantage.  In addition, SSU out-scored ODU in the paint 48-20. [Box Score]

 
November 18 vs. Spalding (@ Notre Dame)

Shawnee State defeated Spalding University 66-60 to win the Notre Dame Holiday Inn Tip Off Tournament.  Justin Patrick led the Bears with 15 points.  He was 3-of-7 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line.  Aaron Davis had 12 points and 6 assists.  Josh Reed chipped in with 11 points.  Wiliam Ford led Spalding with 21 points.  Adrian De Las Heras had 16 points.  Shawnee State shot 44% (22-50) from the field.  The Bears were 18-of-21 from the foul line.  Spalding shot 41% (20-49) from the field and converted on 11-of-15 attempts from the free throw line.  Josh Reed was named Tournament MVP.  He averaged 19 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4 assists over the the course of two games.  Justin Patrick was named to the all-tournament team. November 17 @ Notre Dame

Shawnee State defeated Notre Dame College 91-85 in overtime.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Aaron Davis had 18 points and 5 rebounds.  Justin Brinkman had 17 points and 13 rebounds.  Kyle Miller had 26 points to lead Notre Dame.  Jerome Pierce had 21 points and 8 assists.  Karim McFarlane added 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Both teams shot well from the field.  Shawnee State was 37-of-42 for 47.2%.  Notre Dame connected on 30-64 attempts for 46.9%.  Shawnee State was 3-of-6, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc in overtime.  Notre Dame made just 3-of-11 shots in the extra period.  Shawnee State out rebounded Notre Dame 46-34.  [Box Score]

Shawnee State lost to 2nd ranked Huntington University 88-71.  Shawnee State trailed 45-32 at the half, but managed to close to within six points at 70-64 with four minutes to play.  Huntington scored 5 straight points coming out of a time out to stretch the lead back to eleven.  The Foresters made 9-of-10 free throws in the final 2:34 to seal the win.  Josh Reed led all scorers with 32 points on the night.  He was 11-of-19 from the field and 7-of-14 from the free throw line.  Aaron Davis chipped in with 11 points.  Alex Kock led Huntington with 26 points and 13 rebounds.  Kyle Ganton had 22 points and 9 boards.  Kyle Benge added 20 points for the Foresters.  Both teams shot well from the field.  Shawnee State was 26-of-57 for 45.6%.  Huntington was 29-of-59 for 49%.  The Foresters dominated the glass 40-29.  [Box Score]

 
November 7 vs. Brescia

The Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team defeated Brescia University 82-72.  Shawnee jumped out to a 13-2 lead at 15:28 in the first half.  Brescia pulled to within in one at 18-17 with 6:28 to play in the first half.  Shawnee State went on a 17-8 run to take a 35-25 halftime lead.  Brescia would not get closer than six points the rest of the game.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 28 points.  He was 6-of-11 from the field and 14-of-15 from the free throw line.  Aaron Davis had 14 points and Justin Patrick chipped in with 12 points.  Doug Denton led Brescia with 19 points.  Nate Meinhart and Dustin Neighbors had 11 points apiece.  The Bears held Matt West, averaging 20.5 points on the season, to just 9 points on 4-of-12 shooting.  As a team, Shawnee State shot 53% (27-51) from the field while holding Brescia to 41% (27-66) shooting.  Shawnee State converted 23-of-28 attempts from the free throw line compared to 9-of-10 for Brescia. [Box Score

 
November 4 vs. Pikeville

The Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team opened the 2006 – 2007 season with an 87-60 win over Pikeville College.  Josh Reed led the Bears with 20 points on the night.  He was 7 of 15 from the field and 4 of 4 from the foul line.  Justin Patrick added 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Aaron Davis chipped in 12 points and 6 assists in his first game back since missing the 2004 – 2005 season due to knee surgery.  Donnell Dobbins and Brad Lowe had 13 points each to lead Pikeville.  Steve Sickler had 12 points and Paul Frazier added 10 points.  Shawnee State shot 54% (28-52) from the field while holding Pikeville to 39% (20-51) from the floor.  Shawnee State won the rebounding battle 37-27.   [Box Score]
