After reeling off four consecutive American
Mideast Conference victories, the Shawnee State University Men's
Basketball Team has now lost three straight conference games.
Shawnee State lost to Wilberforce University 75-69. Nick
Donley led Shawnee State with 19 points on the night.
Terrence Davison and Adam Davenports had 15 points each for the
Bears. Rich Montague chipped in with 12 points.
Cameron Phillips led Wilberforce with 21 points off the
bench. Craig Myree and John Ridgeway had 12 points each for
the Bulldogs. Shawnee State shot 47% (28-60) from the
field. SSU hit a season-high 11 three-pointers on 26
attempts. However, despite coming into the game shooting 74%
from the foul line, SSU made just 2 of 9 attempts from the
stripe. In addition, Shawnee State committed a season-high
21 turnovers. Wilberforce shot 47% (27-57) from the field
overall. The Bulldogs were 4 of 11 on three-pointers for 36%
and 17 of 19 on free throws for 90%. Wilberforce recorded 8
blocked shots to go along with 7 steals and committed just 13
turnovers.

|
Shawnee State trailed Ohio Dominican by as many as 16 points in the
second half before eventually falling 71-69. SSU
trailed ODU 41-25 with 17:09 to play in the game. SSU closed
to within single digits before ODU stretched the lead back to
65-53 with 3:33 to play. The Bears outscored ODU 16-6 over
the final 3 1/2 minutes, and got to within 70-69 with just over a
second to play on a three-pointer by Aaron Davis. SSU immediately
fouled following the basket and Luke Lyle to the free throw
line. Lyle made 1 of 2 to give the Panthers a 2-point
cushion. SSU was unable to get off the potential
game-winning shot before time expired. Adam Davenport led
the Bears with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Terrence Davison
had 18 points and 6 rebounds. Aaron Davis added 11 points
off the bench. Luke Lyle led ODU with 18 points. Haze
Masey had 12 points and Micah Stith had 10 points on the night.

State got off to a slow start trailing 17-5 at 14:06 in the first

Nick Donley scored 9 of his game-high 30 points during that
stretch. The
second half featured six lead changes and five ties.
Cedarville took the lead for good at 69-68 with 7:51 to play.
The Yellow Jackets stretched the lead to 8 at 78-70.

Terrence Davison’s leaner in the lane tied the game at 77

Geneva regained the lead and it took a 3-pointer at the
buzzer to send the game to a second overtime period. The
Bears once again took a quick 2-point lead at 90-88 at the start of
the second OT.
Geneva fought back to take the lead at 95-94 on two free

Shawnee State led 61-45 with 13 minutes to play in the second
half.
Notre Dame went on a 17-2 run to make it 63-62 at the 6:09
mark.
SSU was able to hold onto the lead until Jerome Pierce
knocked down a jumper with 7 seconds remaining to tie the game at
71.
Terrence Davison had an opportunity to end the game in
regulation, but his jumper went off the back of the iron as time
expired. Notre Dame led by two for much of the overtime
period.
Nick Donley’s 3-pointer with 47 seconds to play gave the
Bears the lead at 80-77.
Eight of his nine points came in the extra period.
Rich Montague exploded with a career-high 32 points on the night.

State opened American Mideast Conference play with a 93-85 win over
Malone College. Shawnee
State jumped out to a 22-7 lead in the first seven minutes of the
game. Malone
then went on an 18-6 run over the next 8 minutes to make it 28-25. Shawnee
stretched the lead to 42-33 heading into the locker room.
Shawnee
State started the second half on another big run to extend the lead
to 65-41 with 14:13 to play.
The teams went back and forth before Malone was able to pull
within 8 points at the 2:15 mark.
Shawnee State was 8 for 8 at the free throw line over the
final two minutes to secure the win.

Billy Younger added 16 points off the bench.
Adam Davenport had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The
Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team lost to Florida
State University 88-65 in game 2 of the Corpus Christi Challenge.
Shawnee
State held the lead throughout most of the first half.
At the 7:45 mark, SSU still led 20-19.
Florida State then went on a 20-4 run to close out the half
and take a 39-24 lead into the locker room.
Adam Davenport led the Bears with 16 points and 9 rebounds
on the night. Terrence
Davison added 13 points. Aaron
Davis and Billy Younger had 10 points apiece.
Alexander Johnson led the Seminoles with 14 points and 9
rebounds. Von Wafer

State lost to Texas Christian University by a score of 74-60 in
game 1 of the Corpus Christi Challenge.
Shawnee
State jumped out to quick 6-2 lead as Terrence Davison scored the
Bears’ first 6 points. The
teams played to a 15-15 tie at the 11:41 mark. TCU
went on a 30-11 run to close out the half and take a 45-26 lead.
TCU’s lead grew took a 66-43 lead with 7:35 to play in
the game. Shawnee
State then went on a 15-4 run over the next four minutes to cut
the deficit to 12, but could get no closer. Terrence
Davison led all scorers with 21 points.
Aaron Davis added 11 points.
Adam Davenport chipped in with 8 points and 14 rebounds.
Judson
Stubbs led TCU with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Nile Murry had 11 points and Corey Santee had 10 points.

defeated Point Park College 105-92. Five
Bears scored in double figures on the afternoon. Terrence
Davison led the way with 22 points on 8-16 shooting. He was
5-10 from beyond the arc and 1-2 from the foul line. Adam
Davenport chipped in with a season-high 19 points. Nick Donley
scored 15 points and dished out 4 assists. Billy Younger had
14 points and 5 rebounds in his Bears debut. Jason Burston
added 10 points off the bench. Point
Park's Taz Williams led all scorers with 26 points. Gavin
Prosser had 22 points and Brian Kennedy added 21 points for the
Pioneers. Both
teams were on fire offensively. SSU connected 40 of 71 shots
from the field for 56.3%. The Bears were 9 of 22 (40.9%) on
three-pointers. Point Park shot an equally impressive 54.4%
from the field including 40.0% (10-25) from beyond the arc.

Shawnee State lost to 17th ranked Cornerstone
University in the opening round of the Mitchell Memorial
Tournament at Trinity College. Terrence Davison led the
Bears with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Aaron Davis added a career-high 15 points. Andy Bronkema led
Cornerstone with 23 points and 14 rebounds. John Jonkes
added 14 points and 7 boards. Shawnee State shot 40% (30-75)
from the field while Cornerstone hit on 28-57 attempts for
49.1%. Cornerstone held a distinct advantage at the free
throw line connecting on 24 of 38 attempts. Shawnee State
hit 13 of 16 free throw attempts on the night.
