February 24 @ St. Vincent - AMC Tournament

Shawnee State lost to St. Vincent College 71-68 in the first round of the American Mideast Conference Tournament.  Shawnee State led for much of the game and was up 68-65 with 1:32 remaining.  SSU missed the front end of two one and one free throw situations, and St. Vincent scored the final 6 points of the ball game.  Delano Thomas led the Bears with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Rich Montague had 13 points.  Nick Donley added 12 points.  Adam Davenport and Terrence Davison chipped in with 11 points apiece.  Tony Washam, playing in his first game in 5 weeks after suffering a broken hand, came off the bench to score 27 points for St. Vincent.  Marcus Fisher had 16 points and Jeff Mallory added 12 points for the Bearcats.  As a team, Shawnee State shot 52.7% (29-55) from the field.  SSU was 6 of 16 from beyond the arc, but just 4 of 9 from the foul line.  Shawnee State dominated the glass 32-20.  SSU turned the ball over just 12 times, but St. Vincent scored 22 points on the Bear miscues.  St. Vincent connected on 28-55 attempts from the field for 50.9%.  The Bearcats were 6 of 17 on three-pointers and 9 of 12 from the free throw line.

 
February 21 @ Cedarville

The Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team upset 6th ranked Cedarville University 76-71 in overtime on Saturday evening.  This is the first home conference loss in two seasons for Cedarville University.  Shawnee State led by as many as 16 in the first half before Cedarville cut the lead to 9 at the break.  The Yellow Jackets went on an 11-0 run to start the second period and take a 36-34 lead.  The game featured 6 ties before SSU built a 62-53 lead with 4:08 remaining.  The game ended regulation 64-64.  Cedarville led 71-70 with 59 seconds remaining in overtime.  Terrence Davison sank 2 free throws to give the Bears the lead they would not relinquish.  Delano Thomas led SSU with 22 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks.  He played the entire 45 minutes of the ball game.  Adam Davenport had 16 points and Nick Donley added 14 points.  Terrence Davison chipped in with 12 points.  Josh Gast and Eric Leininger led Cedarville with 13 points apiece.  Mugabe Thomas had 12 points.  Anthony Delimpo had 11 points and Jason Weakley added 10 points for the Jackets.  As a team, SSU shot 46 % (26-54) from the field.  The Bears connected on 11 of 18 attempts from beyond the three-point line and 13 of 20 from the free throw line.  Cedarville hit just 35% (27-77) from the field.  The Yellow Jackets were 9 of 27 from beyond the arc and 8 of 14 from the foul line.

 
February 17 vs. Urbana

Shawnee State defeated Urbana University 85-53 and clinched a spot in the American Mideast Conference Tournament.  Five Bears scored in double figures on the night.  Nick Donley led the way with 17 points.  Adam Davenports had 16 points and 8 rebounds.  Terrence Davison had 15 points and 7 rebounds.  Delano Thomas and Aaron Davis had 10 points apiece. Jarrod Brumbaugh led Urbana with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Josh Davis chipped in with 11 points for the Blue Knights. Shawnee State shot 45% (28-62) from the field.  SSU connected on 10 of 19 three-pointers, but just 19 of 32 free throws.  The SSU defense held Urbana to 26% (16-62) shooting on the night.  Urbana made just 5 field goals in the second half.  SSU dominated the glass 55-35. 

 
February 14 vs. Malone

Shawnee State defeated Malone College 79-75.  Terrence Davison led the Bears with 24 points, all of which came in the second half.  Adam Danveports had a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds.  Delano Thomas chipped in with 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Jason Hess led Malone with 24 points and 10 rebounds.  Shane Conwell had 19 points.  Shawnee State led from the opening tip to the 3:08 mark of the second half, when Malone took a 67-66 lead on a basket by Chris Miller.  SSU fought back to a tie at 69-69 when Terrence Davison took over the game.  He scored 8 points in the final 2:36 to secure the win for the Bears.  As a team, the Bears shot 44.6% (25-56) from the field.  SSU connected on 8 of 22 from beyond the arc and 21 of 23 from the free throw line.   SSU dominated the boards 47-26.   Malone shot 41% (25-61) from the field.  The Pioneers were 5 of 20 from the 3-point line and 20 of 26 from the foul line.

 
February 12 vs. Mt. Vernon

Shawnee State lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene 76-74 in overtime.  Shawnee State led by as much as 5 in the first half before Mt. Vernon cut the lead to 2 to go into the locker room.  The Cougars went on an 11-2 run to start the second half and eventually led by as much as 11 before the Bears began to chip away at the lead.  Shawnee State tied the game at 64 with just over 4:00 minutes to play.  The Bears took a 4-point lead only to see Mark Hess score 2 baskets inside the final minute to tie the game for the 10th time.    Mt. Vernon jumped out to a 4-point lead early in the overtime period, but once again the Bears battled back.  Adam Davenport missed a 3-point shot for the win as time expired.  Delano Thomas had a monster night at both ends of the floor.  He had 26 points, 12 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 5 assists in 44 minutes of play.  Terrence Davison added 15 points and 7 rebounds.  Nick Donley chipped in with 12 points.  Andy Dunn led Mt. Vernon with 27 points.  He was 7 of 12 on 3-pointers and 6 of 6 from the foul line.  Mark Hess added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars.  As a team, Shawnee State was 26 of 63 from the field for 41.3%.  SSU hit on 5 of 20 3-point field goals and 17 of 23 from the foul line.  The Bears won the battle for the boards 44-35.  Mt. Vernon was 26-65 from the field for 40% including 10 of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on 14 of 19 attempts from the foul line. 

 
February 10 @ Rio Grande

Playing without starters Antwain Lavender and Terrence Davison, Shawnee State  lost to The University of Rio Grande by a score of 60-49.  Nick Donley led the Bears with 17 points.  He was 6 of 9 from the field including 5 of 7 from beyond the 3-point line.  Adam Davenport had 13 points.  Delano Thomas added 9 points and 11 rebounds.  Matt Simpson was the only Rio player to hit double-figures.  He led all scorers with 19 points.  He was 6 of 9 from the field including 5 of 6 from beyond the arc.  Reggie Williamson added 8 points and 9 rebounds.   Shawnee State struggled offensively shooting just 37% (19-51) from the field.  The Bears were just 5 of 22 on 3-pointers and 6 of 11 from the foul line.   Rio Grande connected on 20 of 50 attempts from the field for 40%.  Rio was 7 of 17 from beyond the arc and 13 of 16 from the free throw line.

 
February 7 @ Wilberforce

Shawnee State defeated Wilberforce University 78-70.  Adam Davenport led SSU with 21 points and 7 rebounds.  Nick Donley had career-highs of 19 points and 8 rebounds.  Antwain Lavender had 17 points and 7 assists.  Delano Thomas added 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.  Helie White led all scorers with 27 points.  Clarence Tubbs was the only other Bulldog in double-figures with 12 points.  As a team, SSU shot 51% (25-49) from the field.  The Bears hit 7 of 17 from beyond the arc and 12 of 24 from the foul line.  A 43-32 rebounding advantage helped SSU overcome 20 turnovers.   Wilberforce shot just 31% (22-71) from the field.  The Bulldogs were 7 of 16 on 3-point field goals and 19 of 20 from the charity stripe.   

 
February 5 vs. Cedarville

Shawnee State lost to Cedarville University 67-62.  Shawnee State held a 36-32 lead at the 15:19 mark in the second half when Cedarville went on an 18-2 run over the next seven minutes to take a 50-38 lead.  Shawnee State clawed back to within 4 points on four occasions, but could never get any closer.  Terrence Davison, Antwain Lavender, and Delano Thomas all had 13 points for the Bears.  Thomas also had 15 rebounds, 5 blocks, 1 assist, and 1 steal.  The game is the 9th straight double-double for Thomas.  Adam Davenport chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds.   Josh Gast led Cedarville with 15 points.  Anthony Delimpo had 10 points.  Mugabe Thomas added 11 points and 8 rebounds.   SSU played well on defense holding Cedarville 22 points below its season average.  The Yellow Jackets shot just 38.5% (25-65) from the field and 28% (4-14) from the 3-point line.  They came into the game shooting 48% and 37% respectively.    Shawnee State shot 39.3% (22-56) from the field overall.  The Bears hit on 6 of 21 attempts beyond the arc for 28%.   

 
January 31 vs. Tiffin

Shawnee State knocked off Tiffin University 67-54 for its second straight conference win.  Delano Thomas led the Bears with 18 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.  The game is his 8th consecutive double-double.   Adam Davenport added 15 points and 7 rebounds.  Nick Donley chipped in with 10 points.  Lucius Sullivan led the Dragons with 11 points and 13 rebounds.  Nick Scheutzow also had 11 points.  Zachary Dezarn chipped in with 10 points off the bench.  As a team, SSU connected on 24 of 53 attempts from the field for 45%, while holding Tiffin to just 34.5% (19-55).  Neither team shot well from beyond the arc.  SSU hit on 7 of 21 attempts for 33%.  Tiffin was 9 of 25 from the 3-point line for 36%.

 
January 30 vs. Walsh

Shawnee State defeated Walsh University 55-49.  Shawnee State led by as much as 8 early in the second half.  Walsh fought back to take a 44-42 lead at the 5:10 mark on a pair of free throws by Jason Farkas.  It was the first lead for Walsh since the game’s opening basket.  The lead went back and forth until Terrence Davison hit a leaner in the lane to give the Bears a 51-49 lead with 55 seconds remaining.  The Bears got 2 free throws each from Nick Donley and Adam Davenport to seal the victory. Delano Thomas led the Bears with 14 points and 10 rebounds for his 7th consecutive double-double.  Terrence Davison and Nick Donley added 12 points apiece.  Adam Davenport chipped in with 10 points.   Randy Sistrunk led Walsh with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Jake Steuer had 12 points and Matt Parker added 11 points for the Cavaliers. As a team, Shawnee State shot 39.4% (21-59) from the field.  The Bears were just 3 of 21 from beyond the arc for 14.3%.  Shawnee State dominated the glass 46-31.  The Bears also owned the paint, outscoring Walsh 28-12 inside. Walsh shot just 35.8% (19-53) from the field including just 20% (3-15) from the 3-point line. 

 
January 24 @ Urbana

For the second time this season Shawnee State failed at a bid for three straight conference wins.  Urbana University snapped the Bears’ two game streak with an 87-84 come from behind win.  In its three previous conference losses, SSU held double digit second half leads.  The same held true today.  SSU took a 49-41 lead into halftime and expanded the lead to 12 just two minutes into the second period.  Urbana fought back to tie the game at 63 with 10:56 remaining.  The Blue Knights did not get lead in the game until they went ahead 79-78 with 1:59 left in the game.  The teams battled back and forth until a Josh Davis jumper with 21 seconds remaining gave Urbana the lead for good.  Adam Davenport led SSU with a career-high 26 points.  Delano Thomas added 23 points and 12 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the season.  Antwain Lavender chipped in with 16 points.  Jarrod Brumbaugh led 5 Blue Knights in double figures with 21 points.  Tay Glover and John Glover came off the bench to score 14 and 12 points respectively.  Josh Davis added 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Al Davenport chipped in with 10 points and 6 assists.  Shawnee State shot 49.1% in the game.  However, the hot shooting came in the first half when the Bears were 18 of 32 from the field for 56.3%.  SSU connected on just 9 of 23 attempts for 39% in the second half.  Urbana was 31 of 58 from the field for 53.4%.  Urbana’s bench outscored SSU’s 40-7.

 
January 22 @ Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State defeated Ohio Dominican University 79-71.   Delano Thomas collected his 12th double-double of the season with 18 points and 16 rebounds.  Antwain Lavender led all scorers with 20 points.  Adam Davenport and Rich Montague chipped in with 11 points apiece.  Haze Massey led ODU with 19 points.  Jeremy Renner added 14 points and 9 rebounds for the Panthers.  Ohio Dominican jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead in the first 3 minutes of the game.  SSU clawed back to tie the game at 19 at the 8:21 mark in the first half.  The Bears took a 23-21 lead at 7:45 and never trailed again.  Shawnee State dominated in the paint, scoring 36 points to Ohio Dominican’s 10.  SSU shot 46% (28-61) from the field compared to 38.5% (25-65) for ODU.  SSU connected on just 4 of 12 3-point attempts for 33%.  Ohio Dominican was 8 of 25 from beyond the arc for 32%.

 
January 20 vs. Rio Grande

The Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team knocked AMC South Division leader and NAIA #17, Rio Grande, 82-68.  Delano Thomas led the Bears with 18 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  He is the first SSU recipient of the Dick Hyland Player of the Game Award.  Terrence Davison added 16 points and 5 rebounds.  Antwain Lavender added 15 points.  Kris Wilson received the Dick Hyland Award for Rio Grande.  He led the Redmen with 14 points and 4 rebounds.  Reggie Williamson and Sean Plummer scored 11 points apiece for Rio.  Shawnee State shot 43.8% (28-64) from the field, but just 22.7% (5-22) from the 3-point line.  Rio Grande shot 35.2% (25-71) from the field including 22.2% (6-27) from beyond the arc.  Rio Grande made just 12 of 24 attempts from the foul line for 50%.  SSU connected on 21 of 30 free throws for 70%.

 
January 17 @ Malone

Shawnee State lost to Malone College in overtime 77-70.  Antwain Lavender led the Bears with 16 points on the night.  Delano Thomas had his 7th double-double of the season with 13 points and 22 rebounds.  Adam Davenport had 12 points and 11 boards.  Terrence Davison and Nick Donley added 11 points each.   Chris Miller came off the bench for Malone to lead all scorers with 18 points.  Jason Hess had 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Seth Coblentz chipped in with 13 points for the Pioneers.  The Bears out rebounded Malone 50-38, however, SSU committed 17 turnovers to Malone’s 11.  Malone made 24 of 38 attempts from the free throw line compared to just 14 of 20 for SSU.   SSU shot just 37.7% (26-69) from the field and just 16.7% (4-24) from beyond the arc.  Malone connected on 23 of 57 attempts from the field for 40.4%, including 7 of 22 from beyond the arc for 31.8%.

 
January 13 vs. Wilberforce

Shawnee State University defeated Wilberforce University 88-74.  Antwain Lavender and Adam Davenport led the Bears with 22 points apiece.  Lavender moved past Jay Hall for the top spot on SSU’s all-time scoring list with 1,387 points.  Delano Thomas added 21 points and 11 rebounds.  Helie White led all scorers with 32 points.  Antonn Melton chipped in with 13 points for the Bulldogs.  Shawnee State shot 47.5% (29-61) from the field including 33% (7-21) from beyond the arc.  The Bears shot 23 of 28 from the foul line compared to just 11 of 16 for Wilberforce.  Wilberforce shot 45% (27-60) from the field and 42.9% (9-21) from the 3-point line. 

 
January 10 @ Walsh

Shawnee State snapped a 3-game skid with a 71-59 win over AMC foe Walsh University.  Delano Thomas led the Bears with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 4 assists.  The game marks his 8th double-double of the season.  Adam Davenport nearly double his season average with 17 points.  Randy Sistrunk led Walsh with 16 points and 12 rebounds.  As a team, SSU shot 47% (27-57) from the field.  The Bears were 5 of 15 from beyond the arc for 33% and 12 of 16 from the free throw line for 75%.  SSU held Walsh to just 32% (23-71) shooting from the field.  Walsh knocked down 7 of 21 3-point field goals for 33%.  SSU overcame a 46-38 rebounding deficit by scoring 14 points on 14 Walsh turnovers.  Walsh’s 32.4% field goal shooting was the lowest by a Bears opponent this season.

 
January 6 @ Mt. Vernon

Playing without three senior starters, the Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University 57-56.  Terrence Davison led the Bears with 21 points on the night.  Adam Davenport was the only other Bear in double figures with 11 points.  Andy Dunn led Mt. Vernon with 14 points.  Andrew Thompson had 12 points and Ryan Seesholtz added 11 points for the Cougars.  Shawnee State held a 34-24 lead at the half.  SSU shot 44% (15-34) in the first half while holding Mt. Vernon to just 26% (8-31).  SSU’s lack of depth was evident in the second half.  The Bears shot just 35% during the period compared to 46% for Mt. Vernon.  Mt. Vernon’s bench scored 31 points to just 8 for SSU.

 
January 3 @ Tiffin

Shawnee State lost to Tiffin University 55-53.  Antwain Lavender led the Bears with 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Delano Thomas added 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Ryan Frasier led Tiffin with 16 points.  Tim Lowe added 12 points for the Dragons.  Despite playing without seniors Andre Horton (knee) and Curt Grimes (back), the Bears won nearly every statistical category in the game.  SSU shot 39.6% (19-48) from the field to Tiffin’s 34% (22-64).  SSU connected on 10 of 13 free throw attempts while Tiffin was just 6 of 10 from the line.  The Bears out-rebounded the Dragons 41-33.  However, SSU committed 19 turnovers to just 7 for Tiffin.  The Dragons capitalized by scoring 17 points off those turnovers.

 
December 29 vs. Lindsey Wilson (@ Rio Grande)

Shawnee State lost to 3rd ranked Lindsey Wilson College 83-56 in the opening game of the Newt Oliver Classic at The University of Rio Grande.  Tommy Futrell and Delano Thomas led the Bears with 12 points apiece.  Antwain Lavender and Adam Davenport had 10 points each.  Stephen Russell led Lindsey Wilson with 20 points and 11 rebounds.  Cetric Anderson and Terrance Taylor chipped in with 13 points each.   As a team, the Bears shot just 28% (17-61) from the field compared to 55% (32-58) for Lindsey Wilson.  SSU connected on 18 of 20 from the free throw line compared to 10 of 12 for Lindsey Wilson.

 
December 13 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State won its American Mideast Conference opener over Ohio Dominican by a score of 77-65.  Terrence Davison led the Bears with 20 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field.  He was 8 of 11 from the free throw line.  Delano Thomas chipped in with his seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 17 rebounds.   Adam Davenport added 10 points and 8 rebounds.  Antwain Lavender’s 12 points moved him into second place on the Bears’ all-time scoring list. Micah Stith led ODU with 24 points and 12 rebounds.  Jeremy Renner scored ODU’s first 11 points, but finished with only 15 points.  Jason Smith added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Ohio Dominican jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Bears went on a run to tie the game at sixteen.  SSU finished the half on a 25-4 run to take a 41-20 halftime lead. Shawnee State shot 43.6% (24-55) from the field compared to 40% (26-65) for ODU.  Shawnee State hit on 24 of 34 attempts from the free throw line while ODU was just 10 of 17 from the stripe. 

 
December 9 @ Georgetown

Shawnee State lost to Georgetown College, ranked 5th in NAIA Division I, by a score of 98-71.  Terrence Davison led the Bears with 19 points on the night.  Delano Thomas added 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Allassondro Roberts had a career-high 10 points.   Five players scored in double figures for Georgetown.  Orlandus Hill led the Tigers with 17 points.  Will Walker had 16 points.  Marshall Williams and George Baker chipped in with 14 points apiece and Brian Silverhorn added 10 points.   As a team, the Bears shot 43% (26-60) from the field, but they were just 4 of 14 from beyond the arc for 28.6%.  Georgetown connected on 32 of 65 (49%) from the field including 8 of 23 (35%) from the 3-point line.  Georgetown connected on 26 of 36 attempts from the free throw line while SSU just connected on 15 of 28 free throws.  

 
December 6 vs. Pikeville (@ Georgetown)

Shawnee State dropped its 3rd straight game, falling to Pikeville College 81-77.  Antwain Lavender led the Bears with 24 points and 3 assists.  Adam Davenports chipped in with a season-high 18 points.  Delano Thomas added 13 points and 13 rebounds.  Teon Knox led Pikeville with 24 points.   B. J. Townsend added 17 points for the Tigers.  As a team, the Bears shot 45% (29-64) from the field including 52% (10-19) from beyond the arc.  SSU out rebounded Pikeville 29-27.  Pikeville shot 54% (28-52) from the field.  The Tigers hit connected on 11 of 21 3-point field goals for 52%.  Pikeville connected on 14 of 18 free throw attempts while SSU hit on all 9 of its attempts for the charity stripe.

 
December 5 vs. Lindsey Wilson (@ Georgetown)

Playing without All-American guard Andre Horton (knee), Shawnee State’s bid to knock off 3rd ranked Lindsey Wilson College fell just short.  Lindsey Wilson defeated SSU 69-64 in the opening game of the Jim Reid Classic at Georgetown College.  Delano Thomas and Antwain Lavender led SSU with 16 points apiece.  Thomas added 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.  Lavender grabbed 6 boards, dished out 3 assists, and totaled 3 steals.  Adam Davenport and Curt Grimes chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds each.  Stephen Russell led the Blue Raiders with 14 points and 6 boards.  Cetric Anderson added 13 points and Tim Ware chipped in with 11 points.  Shawnee State 45-24 rebounding edge was nullified by 24 turnovers compared to just 10 by Lindsey Wilson.  Lindsey Wilson took 28 free throws to Shawnee State’s 11.

 
November 29 @ Pfeiffer

Shawnee State lost in the championship game of the Bobby Lutz Invitational to  host Pfeiffer University by a score of 96-80. Delano Thomas led the way for the Bears with his second double-double in as many nights. Thomas shot 9-16 (56%) from the field, while adding 10 rebounds. Antwain Lavender connected on 7-19 (37%) from the field, but only 2-10 (20%) from 3-point range on his way to a 16-point night. Curt Grimes added 6 points 3-8 (38%) from the field and 9 rebounds. Andre Horton left the game early in the first half due to a knee injury. Horton scored 9 points before his departure, on 3 of 4 shooting from behind the arc. Rico Grier led Pfeiffer (6-0) with 26 points and 8 assists.  Kenny Mickens added 16 points and 5 rebounds.

 
November 28 vs. Lenoir-Rhyne (@ Pfeiffer)

SSU defeated Lenoir Rhyne College in the opening game of the Bobby Lutz Invitational by a score of 80-70. The win snapped a two- game losing streak for the Bears.  Andre Horton led SSU with 23 points. Horton shot 8-20 (40%) from the field, while connecting on 7-13 (54%) from 3-point range. Delano Thomas chipped in 12 points 4-9 and 14 rebounds. Thomas was a perfect 4-4 (100%) from the free-throw line. Antwain Lavender shot 7-11 (64%) from the field, and 2-4 (50%) from 3-point range to finish with 19 points. Ryan Pitts led Lenoir-Rhyne (2-2) with a career-high 24 points.  Rashad Price added 12 points for LRC.

 
November 22 @ St. Vincent

Shawnee State lost to St. Vincent College 85-73.  Antwain Lavender led the Bears with 20 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals.  Delano Thomas added 19 points and 9 rebounds.  Andre Horton chipped in with 17 points.  As a team, the Bears shot 43% (25-58) from the field including 33% (7-21) from beyond the arc.  SSU continued to struggle form the line connecting on just 16 of 28 attempts from the free throw line for 57%.  Tony Washam led the Bearcats (3-0) with 20 points and 14 rebounds.  Kenny Roberts had 19 points.  Marcus Fisher and Jeff Mallory had 16 and 15 points respectively.  The Bearcats shot 45% (27-60) from the field.  They connected on 9 of 19 three-point shots for 47%.

Shawnee State lost to Geneva College 81-77.  Delano Thomas led the Bears with 23 points and 17 rebounds.   He was 10 of 20 from the field, but just 3 of 7 from the free throw line.  Antwain Lavender had 21 points and 6 assists.  Andre Horton chipped in with 15 points.  Tim Sawyer led Geneva (2-3) with 22 points.  Terrance Ward added 10 points and 12 rebounds.  As a team, the Bears shot just 39% (29-73) from the field, including just 31% (6-19) from beyond the arc.  SSU hit on just 12 of 21 attempts from the charity stripe for 62%.  By contrast, Geneva hit 49% (26-53) from the field, 39% (9-23) from 3-point range, and 80% 20-25) from the line.
 
November 18 vs. Bluefield State

Shawnee State University, ranked 14th in NAIA Division II, defeated Bluefield State College 95-69.  Bluefield State held an 18-16 run with just over 8 minutes remaining in the first half.  The Bears then went on a 25-2 to take a 41-20 lead at the half.  Shawnee State held Bluefield to 23.5% shooting for the first period and just 32.5% for the game.  SSU won on the boards 55-46.  Antwain Lavender led the Bears with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Andre Horton had 18 points and 4 assists.  Delano Thomas added 14 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals.  As a team, the Bears shot 49% (37-75) from the field including 41% (9-22) from behind the arc.  Brad Williams was the only player in double figures for Bluefield.  He had 14 points and 5 rebounds.  Chawn Martin and Josh Sizemore had 8 points apiece. 

 
November 15 @ Rio Grande

Shawnee State, ranked 14th in NAIA Division II, lost to the University of Rio Grande 55-52 in the final game of the Bevo Francis Classic.  Adam Davenport led the Bears with 16 points and 7 rebounds on the night.  Andre Horton added 14 points.  As a team, the Bears shot just 28% (18-64) from the field, including 11% (2-18) from beyond the 3-point line.  Sean Plummer led Rio Grande with 20 points and 8 rebounds.  Cain Vandall added 13 points for Rio.  Rio Grande out-rebounded the Bears 46-37.   

 
November 14 vs. King (@ Bevo Francis Classic)

Shawnee State University, ranked 14th in NAIA Division II, chalked up another victory by defeating King College by a score of 72-62 in the Bevo Francis Classic.  Delano Thomas led the Bears with 19 points and 18 rebounds.  Andre Horton scored 18 points and dished out two assists.  Adam Davenport chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Eric Ely led the Tornadoes in scoring with 16 points.  Grady King added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the loss. SSU out-rebounded King College by a 48-26 margin.  SSU shot 43% from the field compared to 39% for King.   The Bears hit on 19 of 21 free throw attempts in the contest. 

 
November 11 @ Notre Dame

Shawnee State University, ranked 14th in NAIA Division II, defeated Notre Dame College 82-63.  Andre Horton led the Bears with 32 points on 10 of 21 shooting.  He was 8 of 16 from behind the arc.  Antwain Lavender chipped in with 20 points.  Tommy Futrell added a solid 8 points and 8 rebounds in his debut with the Bears.   

As a team, SSU hit on 28 of 64 attempts from the field including 14 of 32 from behind the 3-point line.  SSU held Notre Dame to just 36% shooting on the night (24-66).  Notre Dame won the battle of the boards 52-37.  Dave Hilborn led Notre Dame with 16 points on the night.  Paul Benjamin added 12 points and 8 rebounds.
