February 17 @ Wilberforce
Shawnee State lost their final game of the season as they fell to Wilberforce University 95-76.  Dave Hurley led the Bears with 27 points and 9 rebounds.  C. J. Captain added 16 points and dished out 11 assists.  Bradley McKee led Wilberforce with 25 points.  Heliesalazi White added 18 points and 15 rebounds.
 
February 16 @ World Harvest
Shawnee State University dropped an 89-83 decision to World Harvest Bible College.  Dave Hurley led the Bears with 34 points on the night.  Hurley was 11 of 21 from the field including 7 of 11 from behind the 3-point arc.  Drew Beckett added 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Five players scored in double figures for World Harvest.  David Mobley led the way with 25 points and 16 rebounds.
 
February 13 vs. Mt. Vernon Nazarene 
Despite the fact Shawnee State shot 56% from the field, they could not get on top of the game as they were defeated by Mt. Vernon by a final score of 112-106.  Nate Sutton led the Bears, scoring 23 points.  He was followed by Jeff Fraley who scored 22 points.  Kenny Gilbert had a double-double putting 20 points on the board and pulling down 10 rebounds. 
 
February 8 vs. Urbana
Shawnee State fell short in their come back bid against Urbana University by a score of 87-85.  Shawnee State trailed by as many as 10 in the second half.  The Bears had a chance to tie the game late, but an off balance shot by Don Estis would not fall as time expired.  Estis led Shawnee State with a career-high 20 points.   C. J. Captain and Jeff Fraley scored 11 points apiece, while Nate Sutton and Drew Beckett knocked in 10 each.  Robin Sichina led Urbana  with 19 points.
 
February 6 @ Rio Grande
Shawnee State dropped their third consecutive conference game as they fell to Rio Grande 92-72.  Kenny Gilbert led all scorers with a career-high 21 points on 9 of 11 shooting.  Nate Sutton added 16 points for the Bears.  Chris Ballenger led Rio Grande with 16 points.
 
February 3 vs. Tiffin
Shawnee State fell to Tiffin University by a score of 80-79.  Nate Sutton took a 25 foot three point shot with 1.6 seconds on the clock that would have been the game winner.  However, the shot was in and out to send the Bears to their 2nd consecutive conference loss.  Dave Hurley led the Bears with 24 points on the day.  Jeff Fraley had 14 points and Drew Beckett added 11 points off the bench.  Tiffin's Kipp Huntsberger led all scorers with 26 points.
 
February 1 Vs. Asbury
Shawnee State recovered from a 14 point second half deficit to defeat Asbury College 82-64.  Shawnee State (12-13) took the lead at the 5:55 mark on a Jeff Fraley free throw.  Fraley finished the night with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Nate led the Bears with 26 points.  Danny Martin added 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks off the bench.  The Bears tied a team record as they hit 94.4% (17-18) of their free-throw attempts.  The Bears last shot 94.4% from the line on November 24, 1992, versus Findlay.  Curt Beaty led Asbury (14-11) with 16 points.  Ronnie Brown added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
 
January 30 @ Ohio Dominican
Despite five players scoring in double figures, Shawnee State fell to Ohio Dominican 101-91.  Jeff Fraley led the Bears with a career-high 26 points.  Fraley was 9 of 14 from the field, including 8 of 11 from behind the 3 point arc.  C. J. Captain scored 14 points and dished out 5 assists. Daniel Griffith scored a career-high 12 points.  Nate Sutton scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, while Jay Hall scored 10 points and hauled in 7 rebounds.  Scott Keyes led ODC with 30 points and 11 rebounds.  Chad Hazzard added 25 points for the Panthers.
 
January 27 vs. Wilberforce
Shawnee State came back from a 10 point half time deficit to defeat Wilberforce University by a score of 81-71.  Jay Hall notched his third consecutive double-double with 23 points and 18 rebounds.  Dave Hurley added 16 points.  Nate Sutton, Kenny Gilbert, and Drew Beckett scored 9 points each for the Bears.  Bradley McKee led a short handed Wilberforce squad with 17 points.  Jamal Joseph added 15 points for the Bulldogs.
 
January 25 vs. Kentucky State
Shawnee State jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated Kentucky State University 72-66.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 24 points and 13 rebounds.  C. J. Captain added 12 points and 6 rebounds, while Jeff Fraley and Nate Sutton scored 11 points apiece for the Bears.  Chris Duckworth and Jason Lewis scored 12 points apiece for the Thorobreds.
 
January 23 @ Mt. Vernon Nazarene
On two separate occasions, Shawnee State cut double digit deficits to five points.  The Bears could get no closer, however, as they dropped a 95-76 decision to AMC foe Mt. Vernon Nazarene.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 21 points and 13 rebounds.  Jeff Fraley had 14 points and Dave Hurley added 11 points.  Phil Argento led Mt. Vernon with 26 points, while Matt Taylor scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
 
January 20 @ Point Park
Point Park snapped Shawnee State's two game win streak as the defeated the Bears 88-68.  SSU had no answer for Point Park's Khalid Loda as he scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.  Though the Bears held the AMC's leading scorer, Dexter Young, without a point, Young did manage to dish out 14 assists.  Freshman Nate Sutton led the Bears with 17 point on 7 of 9 shooting.  Jeff Fraley added 14 points while Jay Hall chipped in 12.
 
January 18 vs. World Harvest
Every Shawnee State player scored in the Bears' 106-70 rout of World Harvest Bible College.  Dave Hurley led the Bears with a season high 27 points as he knocked down 6 three point field goals.  Jay Hall added 17 points and 9 rebounds.  C. J. Captain nearly had a triple-double as he poured in 12 points, grabbed a career-high 8 rebounds, and dished out a career-high 9 assists.  David Mobley led the Warriors with 32 points and 14 rebounds.
 
January 16 vs. Rio Grande
Shawnee State needed overtime to knock off AMC rival Rio Grande, 84-80 Tuesday evening.  C. J. Captain hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with just over three seconds on the clock.  Daniel Griffith added a free throw with 1.3 seconds remaining to seal the victory.  Jeff Fraley led all scorers with 22 points on the night.  Jay Hall had 18 points and 7 rebounds.  C. J. Captain had 15 points (7 in overtime), while Nate Sutton added 10 points.  Jerry Barlow led Rio Grande with 19 points.  Chris Ballenger had 14 points for the Redmen.
 
January 13 @ Walsh
Shawnee State battled from 14 points down in the second half to take a 1 point lead with :40 remaining.  Walsh outscored the Bears 6-1 over the final :29 seconds to win 76-71.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 19 points.  C. J. Captain had 15 points and Dave Hurley added 14 points off the bench.  Rashad Hanibal led Walsh with 19 points.
 
January 9 @ Malone
Shawnee State dropped its third straight decision as they fell to Malone College 82-66.  The Bears just shot 34% from the field compared to Malone's 59%.  Dave Hurley led the Bears with 15 points.  Nate Sutton had 14 points, while Jeff Fraley added 12.  Ryan Lent led Malone with 25 points.
 
January 6 vs. St. Vincent
Despite a career-high 30 points from Nate Sutton, Shawnee State dropped an 80-70 decision to St. Vincent College.  The only other Bear in double figures was Drew Beckett with 11 points.  Jeff Fraley and Dave Hurley had 9 points apiece.  Four St. Vincent players scored in double figures.  Chad Dickman led the Bearcats with 21 points.
 
January 5 vs. Geneva
Shawnee State fell to Geneva College by a score of 56-53.  The Bears had a chance to tie the game with 10 seconds remaining, but Dave Hurley's 3-point attempt fell short.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 23 points and 7 rebounds.  Jeff Fraley added 14 points and 9 rebounds.  Adam Gladieux led Geneva with 17 points on the day.
 
January 3 @ Urbana
Shawnee State got a last second tip in by Jay Hall to defeat Urbana University by a score of 81-80.  SSU trailed by 1 with 9 seconds remaining in the game.  C. J. Captain received the in bounds pass and ran the length of the floor.  His off balance leaner came bounced off the backboard into the arms of Hall.  Hall laid the ball in as time expired.  The Bears blew a 10 point half-time lead but were able to pull out their second AMC victory of the season.  Hall led all scorers with 19 points.  Jeff Fraley and C. J. Captain chipped in 17 points apiece for the Bears.
 
December 18 @ Northern Kentucky
The Shawnee State University Men’s basketball lost to Northern Kentucky University 105-68. Danny Martin (Elyria, OH) led the Bears with 14 points and 7 rebounds on the night. Jay Hall (Marietta, GA) and Dave Hurley (Anna, OH) had 13 points apiece while C. J. Captain (Hillsboro, OH) added 10 points. Drew Beckett (Maysville, KY) had 6 points and a career-high 5 assists.  Carl Mitchell led NKU with 28 points on 11 of 16 shooting. Zach Wieber had 16 points and 12 rebounds.
 
December 16 vs. Cedarville
Shawnee State picked up their first AMC win of the season as they defeated Cedarville University 95-82.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 31 points and 8 rebounds.  Jeff Fraley chipped in career-highs in rebounds (7) and assists (6) to go along with 7 points.  Danny Martin added 12 points while C. J. Captain had 11 points.
 
December 12 @ Central State
Shawnee State fell to AMC foe Central State 87-73.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Nate Sutton had a career-high 15 points and 7 rebounds.  Danny Martin added 13 points and 5 rebounds.  Turnovers were the bane of the Bears as they committed 26 compared to Central's 13. 
 
December 9 @ Eastern Kentucky 
Shawnee State fell short in their upset bid of NCAA Division I Eastern Kentucky, 97-86.  The Bears trailed by as many as 17 in the second half, but with 2:36 remaining trailed by only 6 points.  SSU failed to convert on 3 consecutive possessions.  EKU pulled away at the free throw line during the final minute of the game.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 21 points and 9 rebounds.  Jeff Fraley added 18 points.
 
December 6 vs. Mt. St. Joseph
The Shawnee State University Men’s Basketball Team defeated the College of Mt. St. Joseph by a score of 98-85. C. J. Captain (Hillsboro, OH) led the Bears with a career-high 26 points. Captain connected on 7 of 11 attempts from the field including 6 of 8 from behind the 3-point line. Jay Hall (Marietta, GA) added his 5th double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Dave Hurley (Anna, OH) added 14 points, while Jeff Fraley (Ironton, OH) chipped in 11 points. Don Estis (Pataskala, OH) had 10 points off the bench.
 
December 1 vs. Olivet Nazarene (@ Anderson Tournament)
Shawnee State fell to NAIA D-I Olivet Nazarene by a score of 85-73 in the opening round of the Anderson Classic.  Four Bears scored in double figures:  Jeff Fraley had 18; Dave Hurley had 13; Kenny Gilbert scored 12; Jay Hall added 11 points.  SSU had no answer for Olivet's Zach Freeman.  He led all scorers with 39 points.  He also added 15 rebounds.
 
November 29 @ Defiance College
Shawnee State defeated Defiance College in a 108-104 shoot-out on Wednesday evening.  It was SSU Coach Jim Arnzen's first career victory over his alma mater.  Jay Hall led the Bears with 32 points and 12 rebounds as he collected his 3rd double-double of the season.  Jeff Fraley and Kenny Gilbert each recorded career-highs with 19 and 16 points respectively.  Gilbert also dished out a career-high 7 assists.  Dave Hurley had 13 points while Don Estis added 10 points.  
 
November 21 vs. Ohio Dominican College
Shawnee State University lost its AMC opener 66-58 to Ohio Dominican College.  Despite playing without starters C. J. Captain (ankle) and Daniel Griffith (wrist), the Bears were able to keep the game close. Jay Hall led the Bears with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Dave Hurley chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. No other player scored in double figures for SSU.
 
November 18 vs. Rio Grande (Bevo Francis Classic)

Shawnee State fell to host Rio Grande 93-83 in the championship game of the Bevo Francis Classic.  They played without C. J. Captain (ankle) and Daniel Griffith (wrist) due to injuries.  Dave Hurley scored 29 points to lead SSU while Jeff Fraley added 12 points.  

 
November 17 vs. West Virginia Wesleyan (Bevo Francis Classic)
Shawnee State defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 81-77 in the opening round on Friday.  Dave Hurley had 20 points on the night, while Jay Hall added 19 points.  Daniel Griffith had a career-high 10 points and 5 rebounds.
 
November 14 @ Kentucky Christian
Shawnee State rallied from an 8-point half time deficit to defeat Kentucky Christian College 93-85 Jay Hall fell two assists shy of a triple-double as he scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.  Dave Hurley added 19 points while Jeff Fraley had 12 points.  Don Estis provided a spark off the bench with 11 points.  
 
November 9 vs. OU-Southern
The Bears opened the 2000-2001 season with a 97-67 win over OU-Southern.  Jeff Fraley led the Bears with 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting.  Jay Hall added 14 points and Drew Beckett had 13 points.  Don Estis came off the bench with 10 points.
