| The Shawnee State University Athletic Hall of Fame will exist to
recognize members of the Shawnee State University community who have
distinguished themselves in the field of athletics. This will be
determined by their performance as a student-athlete at the
university or meritorious efforts on behalf of athletics as a
student, athletic administrator, or coach.
Criteria for induction are as follows:
Player
- Must have participated in a sport at Shawnee State for at least
one season.
- Must have been gone from Shawnee State for at least five years.
Coach/Administrator
- Must have coached or administrated for at least three years.
- Must have been gone from Shawnee State for five years, or have
been at the University for at least 15 years.
If you are a former Shawnee State
Athlete and would like to nominate an
individual who meets the above criteria, please send the
athlete's name to Jared
Shoemaker. Please include the sport and years played by
the athlete. Final selections will be made by a committee composed of members of the Athletic Alumni
Association.
In addition, the SSU Athletic Hall of Fame created the Ralph
Kavanaugh Home Team Award in 2005. The Home Team Award is
meant to recognize special service, spirit, and loyalty to Shawnee
State Athletics. Ralph Kavanaugh, long time equipment
manager at Shawnee State, was the first recipient of the
award. The award will not be presented on an annual basis,
and only those individuals whose service and loyalty to the
university is unparalleled will be considered.
