The Shawnee State Bear Run is a biannual event, which is held each Spring and Fall on and around the campus of Shawnee State University.  The 5K walk/run has grown immensely over the years.  Just over 200 individuals finished the initial race.  A record 742 participants finished in the Fall 2005 event.  The Bear Run is free to all students and children as well as Shawnee State faculty and staff.  For the general public the entry fee is $10.00 for pre-registration and $15.00 for walk-ups.  All participants receive a free t-shirt featuring the infamous "Running Bear."  The 14th Annual Fall Bear Run is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.  The 14th Annual Spring Bear Run is Wednesday, April 22, 2009.  For more information, please contact the Shawnee State University Athletic Department by email or at 740-351-3285.
