May 2 @ Cedarville

Shawnee State baseball team fell in a double-header at Cedarville University to close out the 2009 season. Shawnee State lost the opener 2-1.  Adam Hatton was tagged with the loss as he allowed two runs on eight hits, three walks, while striking out four.  Shawnee State managed only five hits in the game.  Kenta Sato tallied an RBI in the game and Austin Dunfee scored SSU’s only run.  [Box Score]  The Bears lost the night cap 11-1.  The Bears gave up ten runs in the 6th inning to give the Yellow Jackets the win.  Kyle Compton was tagged with the loss for the Bears.  Justin Gregory had an RBI in the game and Brian Ramey scored the Bears only run of the game. May 1 vs. Cedarville

Shawnee State baseball team swept a double-header versus Cedarville University to close out their home schedule.  Shawnee State won the opener 11-1 in 5 innings.  Senior Logan Crabtree hit a three-run homerun in the first inning to get the Bears on the board and junior Brian Ramey scored on a Cedarville error to give SSU the 4-0 lead.  Both teams scored one run in the second.  Ramey got things started in the third inning as he hit a double to center field and then scored on a base hit by sophomore Cory Pallutch.  Freshman Adam Wamsley hit a double down the right field line scoring two Shawnee State runners and giving the Bears the 8-1 advantage.  Shawnee State scored three more runs in the fifth to give the final tally. Andrew Carter got the win as he allowed one run on three hits, four walks, while striking out four.  CU’s Matthew Willett got the loss as he allowed 11 runs (seven earned) on ten hits, five walks, and struck out four batters. Seniors Drew Howard went 2-for-3 in the game with a homerun.  Senior Kenta Sato and   Wamsley added a pair of hits for the Bears.  [Box Score]  Shawnee State saw themselves down 5-0 but managed to rally back to overtake the Yellow Jackets 8-5.  In the fifth inning, Drew Howard started the Bears’ rally as he hit a two-run homerun.  With two outs, Cedarville walked two SSU batters and Cory Pallutch hit a single through the middle to score senior Michael Roekler.  Senior Justin Gregory then walked loading the bases for SSU and Kenta Sato hit a double deep to left field, scoring all three SSU runners and allowing Shawnee State to take the 6-5 lead. Kenta Sato got the win on the mound for the Bears as he pitched three innings allowing one run on one hit, three walks, while striking out one.  Adam Wamsley picked up the save as he pitched the final two innings allowing one hit and had one strike out.  Luke Freshwater was tagged with the loss as he pitched one innings allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk.  Drew Howard went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Bears. April 26 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State split a double-header with Ohio Dominican to split the four-game series. Shawnee State won the opener 10-8.  Brian Ramey hit a homerun to lead off the 2nd inning and put the Bears on the board.  With bases loaded in the 2nd Adam Wamsley hit a double down the right field line to give the Bears the 4-2 after 2 innings.  The Bears continued in the 3rd as Crabtree hit a homerun (9th of the season).  Kenta Sato then hit a three-run homerun to extend Shawnee State’s lead to 8-3.  Ohio Dominican tried to cut the gap as they scored three runs in the 4th inning and two more in the 5th, but the Bears managed to hang on their lead to take to the opener.  Ramey went 3-for-4 in the game and added a double.  Crabtree also hit a triple in the game and Justin Gregory added a double for the Bears. Adam Hatton got the win for the Bears as he pitched four innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits, one walk, and struck out one. April 25 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State split a double-header with Ohio Dominican.  Down 3-1 after 3 innings the Bears’ offense rallied in the 4th and 6th innings to take the 12-3 victory over Ohio Dominican.  In the 4th inning senior Drew Howard hit a triple to allow two SSU runs to score and knot the game at three. Then senior Logan Crabtree hit a homerun to allow Howard to score and give the Bears their first lead of the game.  Freshman Nick Ball then hit a double down the right field line and then scored on a double by sophomore Cory Pallutch to give SSU the 6-3 lead.  In the 6th the Bears’ offense scored six more runs.  With bases loaded Cory Pallutch batted in a runner in on a single to right field and to reload the bases.  Senior Corey Fischer hit a double down the left field line to score all three SSU runners.  Then senior Justin Gregory hit a triple to center field to score Fischer and then scored himself on a wild pitch to tally the final score of 12-3. Andrew Carter gets the win for the Bears as he pitched five innings allowing three runs on nine hits, three walks, while striking out six.  Adam Wamsley gets the save as he pitched the final two innings, striking out three. [Box Score] Down 5-0, Logan Crabtree hit a three-run homerun in the 6th inning to cut the lead to 5-3 but the Bears could not manage to get any closer as they fell 6-3 in the night cap.  Austin May was tagged with the loss as he pitched six innings allowing six runs (four earned) on nine hits, one walk, and had one strikeout.  Andy Onak got the win for ODU as he pitched 5.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits, three walks, and had a strikeout. [Box Score]

 
April 23 @ Marietta

Shawnee State fell to Marietta College 9-2.  The game was knotted a 2-2 going into the 7th inning.  The Bears allowed Marietta to score 1 run in the 7th and 6 more runs in the 8th to tally the final score of 9-2.  Cody Riggs was tagged with the loss as he allowed pitched 1 innings and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits.  Mark Williams got the win for Marietta as he pitched 2 innings and allowed only 1 hit, 1 walk, while striking out 4.  Adam Wamsley had two hits in the game for the Bears.  Nick Ball and Corey Fischer each had a double in the game.  [Box Score]

 
April 21 @ Dayton

The Shawnee State Baseball Team was outscored by the NCAA Division I University of Dayton Flyers 13-6 on Tuesday evening. Kyle Compton was tagged with the loss as he pitched 3 innings, allowing 6 runs (6 earned) on 7 hits, and retiring 1 batter. Eric Wagner got the win for UD as he allowed 4 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, and struck out 5. Corey Fischer went 2-for-4 in the game with a double, a homerun, 1 run scored and 5 RBI’s. Logan Crabtree went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored. [Box Score]

 
April 17 & 18 @ Malone

The Shawnee State Baseball Team was swept by Malone in a four-game series. Shawnee State lost the opener 8-0. Andrew Carter was tagged with the loss as he allowed 7 runs on 12 hits in 4 innings pitched. Jeff Shenker picks up the win for the Pioneers as he pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 walks, and compiled 6 strikeouts.  Adam Wamsley went 2-for-3 in the game, while Brian Ramey went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double. [Box Score] Shawnee State lost Game 2 by a score of 6-2. Austin May was tagged with the loss as he pitched 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. Malone’s Sam Campitella got the win as he pitched 6 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 6 batters.  Wamsley went 3-for-4 in the game with a double, 1 run scored, and a stolen base. Cory Pallutch went 2-for-3 with a double and the Bear’s second run scored. [Box Score] The Bears lost the third game of the series 6-4. Adam Hatton was tagged with the loss, allowing 3 runs, on 6 hits, in 4.1 innings pitched. Hatton added 2 strikeouts. Todd Liberatore got the win as he pitched 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits, 2 walks, and tallied 4 strikeouts. Logan Crabtree led the Bears as he went 2-for-3 at the plate, with a double, and 1 RBI. Ramey went 2-for-4 with 1 run scored while Kenta Sato went 2-for-3 with 1 run scored. The Bears scored 2 runs to open up the 1st inning, but Malone answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to make the score 3-2. Wamsley was tagged with the loss as he pitched the entire game, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits, and striking out 3 batters. Malone’s Adam Boudler also pitched a complete game, giving up 2 runs (0 earned) on 7 hits, and striking out 3. Ramey went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Crabtree went 1-for-3 with a double, 1 run scored, and an RBI, while Nick Ball went 1-for-2 with a double. [Box Score]

 
April 15 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State split a double-header with the University of Rio Grande. Shawnee State lost the opener 8-4 in 8 innings.  The Bears had a 3-2 lead after 5 innings and then committed 3 errors allowing 2 runs to score in the 6th to allow the Red Storm to regain the lead.  In the 7th the Bears then scored on a Rio Grande error to knot the game at 4.  Rio Grande then scored 4 runs in the extra inning to reach the final tally of 8-4.  Austin May was tagged with the loss as he pitched the final two innings allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, while striking out 5 batters.  Angel Santiago got the win for the Red Storm as he pitched the final inning allowing no hits and striking out 1. For the Bears Brian Ramey and Adam Wamsley each had a pair of hits in the game. [Box Score] Shawnee State won the night cap 9-3.  Kenta Sato got the win as he pitched a complete game allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, 1 walk, while striking out 3.  Desmond Sullivan was tagged with the loss as he pitched 5.1 innings allowing 8 runs (3 earned) on 9 hits, and 4 walks.  He struck out 7 batters in the game.  Quentin Everman was 3-for-4 at the plate, with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.  Logan Crabtree was 2-for-4 in the game with a double and 4 RBI’s. [Box Score]

 
April 13 @ Rio Grande
Shawnee State lost a double-header at Rio Grande.  Shawnee State led 6-0 in the 4th but gave up 8 runs to allow the Red Strom to take the lead and go on to win 9-6.  Greg Kettle was tagged with the loss.  Scott Sheetz picks up the win for the Red Storm as he pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 1 hit, 1 walk, and had 2 strikeouts.  Brian Ramey went 3-for-3 in the game with a run scored, while Nick Ball went 2-for-3 at the plate.  Adam Wamsley had a homerun for the Bears. April 11 @ Notre Dame

The Bears swept a double-header at Notre Dame to sweep the four-game series. The Bears defeated Notre Dame 10-2 in Game 1. Adam Hatton got the win as he pitched the entire game allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, 1 walk, while striking out 3.  At the plate, Drew Howard went 3-for-4 with a double. [Box Score]  The Bears won the final game of the series 6-3.  For the Bears, Austin Dunfee picked up the win as he pitched 4.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, 4 walks.  He also had 2 strike outs.  Drew Howard had a double in the game. [Box Score]

 
April 10 @ Notre Dame

The Bears swept Notre Dame in a conference double-header.  The Bears won the opening game 10-4.  Andrew Carter pitched the entire game allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 9 hits, 2 walks, while striking out 3.  Brian Ramey was 3-for-4 in the game with a double and Michael Roekler went 2-for-3 in the game with a double. [Box Score]  In the night cap the Bears won 9-2.  Austin May got the win for the Bears as he pitched 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, and 3 walks.  He struck out 3 batters.  Brian Ramey went 3-for-4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Corey Fischer hit 2-for-3 in the game and tallied 2 RBI’s. [Box Score]

 
April 8 @ Ohio University

Shawnee State scored 3 runs in the 6th inning to cut Ohio University’s lead to 5-3, but it was not enough as NCAA Division I OU went on to win 8-3.  Phillip Martin was tagged with the loss as he pitched the 2nd inning allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk.  Zach Fairbanks got the win for the Bobcats as he pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 9 hits, while retiring 5 batters. Ohio University out hit the Bears 14-10 in the game.  For the Bears Kenta Sato and Cory Pallutch each had a pair of hits, including a double by Pallutch. [Box Score]

 
April 5 @ Point Park

The Bears won the opener 6-4.  Adam Hatton got the win as he pitched 4 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits with 2 walks.  He had 2 strikeouts in the game.  Corey Fischer was 2-for-2 in the game with a double, while Michael Roekler went 2-for-3 with a double.  Brian Ramey added a double for the Bears. Shawnee State swept a double-header vs. Point Park.  The Bears won the opener 8-1.  Kenta Sato got the win for the Bears as he pitched the 7th inning and allowed 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 2.  Andrew Carter pitched 6 innings for the Bears allowing 1 run on 6 hits, with 2 walks.  He had a career-high 10 strikeouts.  Logan Crabtree was 3-for-5 in the game with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.  Drew Howard was 2-for-5 in the game with a double, 3 RBI’s and 1 run scored.  Brian Ramey was 2-for-3 in the game with a run scored. April 1 @ Morehead State
Shawnee State Baseball Team led NCAA Division I Morehead State 8-7 after two innings, but the Bears went dry and fell to the Eagles by a score of 21-10.  Kyle Compton was tagged with the loss as he pitched the third inning. Tyler Hieneman got the win for the Eagles.  Between the two teams there was a combined 38 hits in the game.  Brian Ramey went 3-for-4 in the game with a two-run homerun in the top of the first inning, while Michael Roekler also hit a two-run homerun in the second inning. Adam Wamsley had 2 hits in the contest with a double, while Roekler, Kenta Sato, Drew Howard, and Logan Crabtree each added a pair of hits for the Bears. [Box Score]
 
March 31 @ Mount Vernon

Shawnee State split a doubleheader with Mount Vernon to split the four-game series.  Shawnee State scored 2 runs in the 7th inning to top Mount Vernon 2-1 in the opener.  Austin May pitched 6.1 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 4.  Adam Wamsley got the save as he pitched the final 2/3 of the game.  Josh Estep was tagged with the loss for MVNU as he pitched the complete game allowing 2 runs on 5 hits.  Kenta Sato went 2-for-4 in the game, while Cory Pallutch had 2 RBI's in the game.  [Box Score]  Shawnee State fell in the night cap 12-2.  Greg Kettel was tagged with the loss.  Jason Decker got the win for the Cougars.  Adam Wamsley was 1-for-2 in the game with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. March 28 @ Trevecca Nazarene

The Bears ended the series with a 5-8 loss to Trevecca Nazarene. Kyle Compton got the loss.  Kenta Sato and Drew Howard each went 2-for-5 in the game with one RBI.  Howard also scored two runs for the Bears. [Box Score]

 
March 27 @ Trevecca Nazarene

Shawnee State lost the opener on Friday by a score of 4-2.  Dustin Cook was tagged with the loss.  Drew Howard was 1-for-1 in the game with a run scored.  Adam Wamsley scored SSU only other run.  Logan Crabtree added a double for the Bears. March 26 @ Shorter

Shawnee State lost to Shorter College by a score of 8-6 on Thursday afternoon.  Kenta Sato was tagged with the loss.  Sato offensively hit a thee-run homerun and scored two runs in the game.  Justin Gregory was 2-for-3 on the day, while Logan Crabtree added a double for the Bears. [Box Score]

 
March 24 @ Southern Poly State

The Shawnee State Baseball Team lost a double-header to NAIA No. 9 ranked Southern Poly State. It took Southern Poly State extra innings to get the 3-2 win over the Bears.  Kenta Sato was tagged with the loss as he allowed a unearned run in the top of the 8th inning. Michael Roekler was the only Bears to have multiple hits in the game as he went 2-for-4 on the day.  Brian Ramey added a double and a run scored in the game. [Box Score

Shawnee State lost the night cap 5-1.  Clay Dennewitz was tagged with the loss. Both teams only had four hits in the game.  Kenta Sato had an RBI for the Bears. [Box Score]

 
March 23 @ Southern Wesleyan

Freshman Austin Dunfee's pitching effort as well as a solid hitting effort from the Bears, started Shawnee State Baseball's spring break in the right direction as they defeated Southern Wesleyan 12-8. Dunfee pitched 5.2 innings to get the win as he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, while retiring 5 batters. Kenta Sato pitched in the final 2 innings to collect the save for the Bears.  Drew Howard, Brian Ramey, and Justin Gregory each accumulated 3 hits in the game. Logan Crabtree and Kenta Sato each added 2 hits apiece, including a homerun by Crabtree. [Box Score]

 
March 22 vs. Urbana

Trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the 9th Shawnee State tried to rally as Adam Wamsley hit a triple to right field allowing 2 runs to score and then advanced home on a balk by Brandon Hamilton.  However, the Bears could not manage to get any closer as they fell 6-5 to Urbana on Sunday afternoon.  Shawnee State falls to 11-7 overall, while Urbana improves their record to 12-11 on the season. Kyle Compton is tagged with the loss as he pitched 5.1 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, walking 1, and striking out 4.  Dustin Lacy got the win for the Blue Knights as he pitched 7 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 1 hit, with 5 walks.  Lucy had 5 strike outs in the game.  SSU’s Drew Howard was 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI. March 21 @ Urbana

Shawnee State swept double-header at Urbana. Shawnee State won the first game 6-2.  Andrew Carter is tagged with the win as he pitch a complete game allowing only 1 earned run on 6 hits, with 3 walks and retired 9 batters.  Kenta Sato went 2-for-3 on the day with a homerun and scored 4 runs for the Bears.  Logan Crabtree was 2-for-3 with a double.  Brian Ramey had a homerun in the game, while Justin Gregory added a double for the Bears.

March 14 vs. Walsh

The Shawnee State Baseball Team swept a double-header with Walsh University on Saturday afternoon at Branch Rickey Park in Portsmouth, Ohio to complete the four-game series. Shawnee State goes to 9-6 on the season and 5-1 in the AMC. Walsh goes to 4-11 on the season and 0-4 in the AMC. In a come-from-behind win, the Bears scored 5 runs on 2 hits and 2 errors in the bottom of the 7th to win the game 8-7. Cody Riggs got the win in the opener as he pitched the final inning allowing no runs on 2 hits and 1 strikeout. Nick Ball, who singled in the bottom of the 7th and batted in 2 runs, went 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI’s while Drew Howard went 2-for-3 in the game and also singled and scored in the Bear’s 7th inning rally. [Box Score] Shawnee State won the night cap 10-9 in what was another exciting game. With the game tied at 9 all in the bottom of the 7th, Kyle Hammontree singled with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run. Adam Wamsley got the win for the Bears as he closed out the final inning allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 1 strikeout. Hammontree was 3-for-5 in the game with 1 run and 2 RBI’s, Quentin Everman was 3-for-5 with a double, while Brian Ramey added 2 RBI’s. Ramey had 4 RBI’s on the day. [Box Score]

 
March 13 vs. Walsh

The Shawnee State Baseball Team swept a double-header with Walsh University on Friday afternoon at Branch Rickey Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.  Shawnee State goes to 7-6 on the season and 3-1 in the AMC.  Walsh goes to 4-9 on the season and 0-2 in the AMC. Andrew Carter got the win in the opener as he pitched six innings in the 4-3 victory allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. Adam Wamsley got the save as he pitched the final inning and allowed no runs and 1 hit with a strikeout.  Brian Ramey was 3-for-3 in the game with a homerun and 3 RBI’s while Nick Ball was 2-for-3 with a triple. [Box Score] Shawnee State won the night cap 7-5. Austin May got the win for the Bears as he pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 1 run on 3 hits. Kenta Sato got the save as he pitched the final 1.2 innings and allowed no runs, no hits, and had 2 strikeouts. Cory Pallutch was 2-for-3 in the game with a double and 2 RBI’s, Adam Wamsley was 2-for-3 with a stolen base, while Kyle Hammontree was 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. [Box Score]

 
March 8 vs. Concordia

Shawnee State fell short of sweeping Concordia University as the Bears lost game 3 of the series 8-5.  Greg Kettel was tagged with the loss. Concordia’s Brent McNeil got the win.  Senior Logan Crabtree went 3-for-5 on the day with two homeruns for the Bears. Drew Howard added a triple for the Bears. [Box Score]

 
March 7 vs. Concordia

The Shawnee State Baseball Team swept a double-header with Concordia University on Saturday afternoon at Branch Rickey Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.  Shawnee State goes to 5-5 on the season.  Concordia goes to 4-8 on the season. Kyle Compton got the win in the opener as he pitched all five innings in the 13-3 victory allowing 3 runs on 4 hits.  Brian Ramey was 2-for-3 in the game with 3 RBI’s while Kenta Sato was 2-for-3 with a homerun
[Box Score].  In the night-cap game, Drew Howard hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the 6th to give Shawnee State the lead. Corey Fischer then singled to right field to drive in Kyle Hammontree’s run and secure the win in a 9-7 victory. Kenta Sato got the win as he closed for the Bears allowing no runs on only 1 hit.  Howard was 2-for-3 in the game with 3 RBI’s and 3 runs scored while Adam Wamsley was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI’s. March 5 vs. Mount Vernon

Shawnee State Baseball Team split a double-header with Mount Vernon Nazarene University to open conference play. Shawnee State lost the opener 5-1.  Phillip Martin was tagged with the loss. Josh Estep go the win as he pitched a complete game. Shawnee State’s only run of the game was on Kyle Hammontree’s homerun in the 2nd inning. [Box Score] Shawnee State won the night cap 12-11.  Cory Pallutch got the win for the Bears as he pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits.  Adam Wamsley got the save as he pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed 1 run on 2 hits with a strikeout.  Drew Howard was 2-for-3 in the game; including a grand slam in the 4th to give the Bears the 12-8 lead.  Logan Crabtree was 2-for-4 in the game with a double and 2 RBI’s.

March 1 vs. Indiana Tech

Shawnee State lost to Indiana Tech 10-4 in the final game of the series.  The Bears took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning.  Indiana Tech answered as they scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning and 4 more in the 5th inning to give them their final tally. The Bears scored their final run in the 6th inning but could not manage to close the gap.  Phillip Martin was tagged with the loss.  Eric Sherrill got the win for Indiana Tech.  For the Bears, Kyle Hammontree was 2-for-3 on the day with 2 RBI’s.  Logan Crabtree was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. For Indiana Tech, Keegan McCamment was 3-for-5 in the game with 2 runs scored and an RBI.  [Box Score]

 
February 28 vs. Indiana Tech

Shawnee State split a double-header with Indiana Tech. Shawnee State lost the opener 7-4.  Adam Wamsley was tagged with the loss as he allowed 4 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings.  Logan Crabtree was 2-for-3 in the game with 3 RBI’s. [Box Score] Drew Howard hit a double to drive in Quentin Everman in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Shawnee State the 5-4 victory in the night-cap game.  Kenta Sato got the win as he pitched the final inning and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits.  Howard was 2-for-4 in the game with 2 RBI’s while Everman was 2-for-3. [Box Score]

 
February 21 @ Tennessee Weslyan

The Bears lost 11-10 to Tennessee Wesleyan. The Bears had a 10-6 lead going into the 8th inning, when they allowed Tennessee Wesleyan to tie the score with four runs.  Tennessee Wesleyan then scored a run in the 9th to tally the final score. Adam Hatton was tagged with the loss as he allowed one run on three hits. Brian Ramey went 3-for-5 in the game with a homerun.  Drew Howard and Kyle Hammontree each hit a homerun in the game for the Bears. [Box Score]

 
February 20 @ Tennessee Weslyan

Shawnee State split a double-header with Tennessee Wesleyan.  The Bears lost the opener 8-1. Austin May was tagged with the loss as he allowed five runs on four hits, with two walks and one strikeout. [Box Score]  Shawnee State won game 2 by a score of 3-2.  Kenta Sato got the win as he allowed1 run on 1 hit with a walk and a strikeout. Adam Wamsley recorded the save as he allowed one run on one hit with two walks and a strikeout. Logan Crabtree hit a three-run homerun in the 6th inning to give the Bears a 3-1 lead. [Box Score]
