April 29 @ Cedarville

Shawnee State wrapped up the 2006 season with a double-header split at Cedarville University.  Shawnee State won the opener by a score of 9-4.  Kent Kobayashi (2-2) picked up the complete game win as he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk over 7.0 innings.  Derek Woloshyn (0-1) was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 6 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits and 1 walk.  Jared Perdue and Zac Shoaf collected 3 hits apiece in the game.  Perdue had a triple and 3 RBI.  Shoaf scored 4 runs and stole a pair of bases.  Cedarville won the night-cap 3-2.  Jonathon Venters (1-6) took the loss.  He gave up 3 unearned runs on 3 hits and 2 walks.  Kiel Boynton (3-4) picked up the win for Cedarville as he held the Bears to just 4 hits in the game.  Nathan Timberlake hit a two-run homerun, his second of the year.  Jared Perdue, Kole Hargrave, and Ryan Rowland had SSU's other three hits. 

 
April 28 vs. Cedarville

Shawnee State swept a double header with Cedarville.  Shawnee State won the first game by a score of 3-1.  Randall Scott picked up the complete-game win allowing 1 run, 1 hit, walked 3 and struck out 5.  Drew Howard hit a homerun in the game, his fourth of the season.  Zac Shoaf was 2-3, with a run scored.  Shawnee State won the second game 4-0.  Justin Craft picked up the complete-game win as he allowed no runs, 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out six.  Craft hit a homerun his third of the season.  Drew Howard added a triple in the game for the Bears.

 
April 23 vs. Miami Hamilton

Shawnee State beat Miami Hamilton 4-1 in a non-conference game.  Casey Wooddell got the win for the Bears.  He pitched 5 innings allowing 1 runs on 5 hits, and no walks.  He struck out 3.  Jonathon Venters pitched 1 inning allowing 1 hits and striking out 2.  Justin Craft pitching 1 inning allowed no hits and struck out 1.  Eric Spille pitched the 8th inning allowing one hit.  Phillip Holt pitched the last inning for the Bears allowing two hits and striking out 1.  Justin Craft was 3-4 in the game with a double.  Jared Perdue gave the Bears the lead with a 2 run homerun in the third inning (6th homerun of the year).  Greg Reimer was 3-3 in the game, with a run scored.  Nathan Timberlake was 2-3, with a run scored.

 
April 22 @ Mount Vernon
Shawnee State split a double header with Mount Vernon.  Shawnee State won the first game 13-5.  Kent Kobayashi got the win for the Bears, allowing 5 runs on 11 hits, and walking 3.  He struck out 4.  Casey Wooddell worked 2 innings and allowed no runs on 4 hits, with 1 walks, and striking out 2.  Jared Perdue hit a homerun in the game.  Zac Shoaf, Justin Craft, Ryan Rowland, and Nate Timberlake each had doubles for the Bears.  Shawnee State lost the second game 3-5.  Jonathon Venters was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 4 runs on 3 hits, walking 5 and striking out 1.  Kole Hargrave worked 1 2/3 inning and allowed 1 run on 3 hits and walked 2.  Tyler Hollar worked the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing no runs, no hits, and walking just 1 batter.  He struck out 2.  Zac Shoaf was 4-4 in the game, and Ryan Rowland had a double for the Bears.  
 
April 21 @ Mount Vernon
Shawnee State lost a double header to Mount Vernon.  Shawnee State lost the first game 1-8.  Randall Scott took the loss as he allowed 7 runs on 7 hits, and walking 3.  He struck out 3.  Phillip Holt pitched 1 inning, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, with no walks, and striking out 2.  Ryan Rowland and Zac Shoaf were both 2-3 in the game.  Phillip Ashcraft scored the only run for the Bears.  Shawnee State lost the second game 12-13.  Phillip Holt was tagged with the loss as he pitched the final inning, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks.  Justin Craft pitched 3 innings and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks and struck out 2.  Eric Spille pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2.  Tyler Hollar pitch 1/3 inning allowing 2 runs on no hits and 2 walks.   
 
April 18 vs. Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State split a double header with Ohio Dominican University. Shawnee State won the first game 6-5.  Phillip Holt picked up the win, allowing 1 run on 1 hit with 1 walk, and striking out 1.  Kent Kobayashi pitched 6 innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits with 4 walks.  He also struck out 5.  Nate Timberlake hit a lead-off home-run in the 8th inning to give Bears the win. Shawnee State lost the second game 6-1. Jonathon Venters was tagged with the loss, as he allowed 4 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and striking out 4.  Randal Scott pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk.  Aaron Morrison pitched 1 inning, allowing 1 run and walking 1.  Phillip Ashcraft and Zac Shoaf each had a double in the game.

 
April 13 @ Ohio Dominican

Shawnee State dropped a double-header at Ohio Dominican University. Shawnee State lost the first game 7-1.  Randall Scott took the loss for the Bears allowing 6 runs on 8 hits, and one walk.  Eric Spille worked 1 inning and allowed 1 run on 2 hits.  Phillip Holt worked the last inning allowing no runs and no hits.  Shawnee State had 5 hits in the game. Shawnee State lost the second game 8-5.  Justin Craft took the loss for the Bears allowing 5 urns on 3 hits, and 5 walks.  Tyler Hollar worked 1/3 of an inning allowing 2 runs on 1 hit.  Jonathon Venters allowed 1 runs on 1 hits.  Phillip Holt worked the last 1 2/3 innings and allowed no runs, 1 hits and 1 walk.

 
April 10 @ Tiffin

Shawnee State dropped a double-header at Tiffin University.  Shawnee State held a 3-1 lead in the opener before Tiffin erupted for 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning.  The Dragons went on to win the game 8-3.  Kent Kobayashi took the loss as he allowed 5 runs on 3 hits and 5 walks through 4.0 innings of work.  Nick Collins 1 2/3 innings and allowed 3 runs on 2 hits and 4 walks.  Jeremy Blackston and Justin Craft had 2 hits apiece.  Jared Perdue was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.  Tiffin jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings in the night-cap.  Shawnee State scored 8 unanswered (4 in the third and 4 in the fourth) to take an 8-4 lead, but was unable to hold on.  Tiffin scored once in twice in the bottom of the 5th and 7 in the bottom of the 6th and went on to win 13-9.  Casey Woodell was tagged with the loss.  He entered the game in the 6th inning and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits while recording just 1 out.  Kenny Shaw picked up the win for Tiffin.  Jared Perdue and Phillip Ashcraft had 2 hits apiece for Shawnee State.  Perdue hit is 4th homerun of the season and had 5 RBI. 

 
April 9 vs. Tiffin

The Shawnee State Baseball Team split a double-header with Tiffin. Shawnee State won the first game 6-5.  Tyler Hollar got the win for the Bears. Pitching the 7th inning allowing no runs, no hits, and striking out 2.  Randall Scott pitched the first 6 innings.  He allowed 5 runs, on 7 hits, and 4 walks.  Scott also had 4 strike-outs.  Trailing by two with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, Shawnee State posted a comeback.  The comeback began when Phillip Ashcraft doubled and Justin Craft followed with a walk.  Ryan Rowland singled to right field allowing Ashcraft to score the tying run.  Craft then scored on an error by Tiffin’s infield on Kole Hargrave’s hit. Shawnee State lost the second game 5-8.  Justin Craft took the loss for the Bears allowing 8 runs on 11 hits, 2 walks and striking out 1.  Eric Spille and Aaron Morrison worked the last 4 innings allowing no runs, no hits, and striking out 1 apiece.  Shawnee State had 11 hits in the game.  Jared Perdue went 2-3 in the game, with a homerun.

 
April 2 vs. Urbana

Shawnee State lost a double header to Urbana. Shawnee State lost the first game 2-6.  Kent Kobayashi took the loss for the Bears.  He allowed 6 runs on 5 hits with 3 walks.  Nick Collins pitched 2 innings allowing no runs on 3 hits and 3 walks, striking out 2.  Eric Spille pitched 2 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with no walks. Kyle Royse had a double in the game.  Shawnee State lost the second game 2-12.  Aaron Morrison took the loss for the Bears.  He allowed 7 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.  Casey Wooddell worked 4 innings for allowing 5 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks and 1 strikeout.  Tyler Hollar pitched the last 2/3 inning and allowed 1 hit.  Phillip Ashcraft went 2-3 in the game. 

 
March 28 & 29 @ Indiana Tech

Shawnee State lost a three-game to Indiana Tech by scores of 11-5, 2-1, and 6-1.  Kent Kobayashi took the loss for game 1, allowing 7 runs on 6 hits with 4 walks.  He had 8 strikeouts in 4 innings.  Nick Collins playing 3 innings allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, 5 walks and 5 strikeouts.  Tyler Hollar played the last inning allowing no runs, no hits, no walks, striking out 2.  Shawnee State tallied 12 hits in the game, including a homerun by Jared Perdue.  Justin Craft pitched the second game, taking the loss.  He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 walks.  Shawnee State had 5 hits.  Kole Hargrave was 2-3 in the game for the Bears.  Casey Wooddell took the loss for the Bears in the final game against the Warriors.  He allowed 6 runs on 8 hits with no walks.  Zac Shoaf had the only hit in the game for the Bears.

 
March 22 vs. Otterbein @ Fort Myers
Shawnee State lost to Fort Myers by a score of 8-7 in its final spring break game of 2006.  Otterbein jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning.  The Bears scored 1 in the top of the 4th only to see Otterbein answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning and 2 more in the 5th inning.  Shawnee State scored 3 unanswered runs and entered the 9th inning trailing 8-4.  A walk and 3 consecutive one-out doubles pulled the Bears to within a run before Otterbein was able to wrap up the game.  Jared Perdue had 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI in the game.  Casey Wooddell, Ryan Rowland, and Nathan Timberlake had 2 hits apiece.  Jonathon Venters took the loss.  He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks in 3.0 innings.  Tyler Hollar worked an inning and two-thirds allowing 4 runs on 6 hits.  Randall Scott and Eric Spille worked the final 3 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit apiece.
 
March 21 vs. Kalamazoo @ Fort Myers
Shawnee State split a double-header with Kalamazoo.  Shawnee State won the opener 6-1.  Justin Craft picked up the win.  He allowed 1 run on 6 hits with 3 strike outs.  Craft also went 1-4 at the plate with a triple and scored a run.  Ryan Howard had 2 hits in the game with a homerun.  Ryan Rowland went 2-3 with a double and scored 2 runs.  Shawnee State had 9 hits in the game.  Kalamazoo won the second game by a score of 6-0.  Casey Wooddell took the lose, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and walked 1.  Shawnee State had 4 hits in the game.  Zac Shoaf had 2 hits, Justin Craft added a double, and Kyle Royse had the only other hit for the Bears. 
 
March 20 vs. Mt. Vernon Nazarene @ Fort Myers

Shawnee State split a non-conference double-header with Mt. Vernon Nazarene.  Shawnee State won the opener 9-8 in 8 innings.  Casey Woddell picked up the win in relief of Kent Kobayashi.  Wooddell worked the final 2.2 innings and allowed 1 run on 3 hits.  Ryan Howard and Kyle Royse had 3 hits apiece in the game.  Justin Craft, Jeremy Blackston, and Greg Reimer had 2 RBI each.  Craft had a homerun and the game winning double which plated Ryan Rowland.  Shawnee State managed just two hits in the night-cap as Mt. Vernon rolled over the Bears by a score of 11-0.  Aaron Morrison was tagged with the loss as he allowed 6 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks in one inning of work.  Zac Shoaf and Ryan Howard had Shawnee State's only hits in the game. 

 
March 18 vs. St. Thomas @ Fort Myers
Shawnee State lost a double-header to St. Thomas.  St. Thomas won the first game 14-2.  Randall Scott took the loss.  He allowed 11 runs on 12 hits, but only 1 walk.  Eric Spille allowed 3 runs on 3 hits with 1 walk and 1 strike out.  Shawnee State had 6 hits in the game.  Jeremy Blackston was 2-3 and scored 1 run in the game.  St. Thomas won the second game 5-2.  Jonathon Venters took the loss for the Bears.  He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, 5 walks, while striking out 1.  Shawnee State had only 1 hit in the game.  Ryan Rowland was 1-3 with 1 RBI.    
 
March 5 vs. UV-Wise

Shawnee State swept a double-header from Virginia-Wise.  Shawnee State took the opener 7-3.  Justin Craft picked up the complete-game win as he allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out five.  Matt Begley was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 6 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits and 2 walks.  Jared Perdue was 3-for-4 in the game with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Greg Reimer had a pair of RBI.  Jorge Laboy, Jon Reed, and Andrew Anderson had 2 hits apiece.  Casey Woodell blanked the Cavaliers 1-0 in his first career start for the Bears.  He scattered 6 hit while striking our six.  He did not allow a walk.  Mike Elliot was tagged with the loss despite allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks over 5.0 innings.  The big blow was a solo homerun by Ryan Rowland in the 4th inning.  Mike Lang had a pair of hits for the Cavaliers.

 
March 4 @ Rio Grande
Shawnee State lost a pair of games to the University of Rio Grande.  Rio blanked SSU 5-0 in the opener.  Aaron Morrison took the loss.  He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and 8 walks in 5.0 innings.  Phillip Holt allowed 1 unearned run on 3 hits in 1.0 inning of work.  Brent Waterson picked up the shut out victory.  He allowed just 4 Shawnee State hits and did not walk a batter.  Phillip Ashcraft had two of Shawnee State's hits.  Mike Warren and Kevin Dolan had two hits apiece for Rio.  Rio Grande won the night-cap 4-2.  Chris Stewart picked up the win.  he allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits over the course of 5.0 innings.  Ryan Dwyer worked the final 2.0 innings to pick up the save.  Kent Kobayashi was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 4 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and 1 walk in 6.0 innings.  He struck out 5 batters.   Nate Chau  was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for Rio Grande.  R.J. Niemer and Ryan Rowland each had a pair of hits and an RBI for Shawnee State.
 
March 3 vs. Rio Grande

Shawnee State opened American Mideast Conference play with a double-header split with Rio Grande.  Rio Grande came out on top in a pitcher’s duel in the opening game by a score of 2-1.  SSU’s Randall Scott (1-1) worked the entire game.  He gave 2 unearned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks while recording 7 strike outs.  Nate Chau (2-1) picked up the win for Rio as he allowed 3 hits and 4 walks and struck out nine.  Shawnee State managed just 3 singles in the game, one each by Jared Perdue, Ryan Rowland, and Jeremy Blackston.  Shawnee State won the night-cap by a score of 8-4.  The Bears scored 1 run in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back doubles by Jared Perdue and Ryan Rowland.  Rio Grande scored a run in the 3rd and again in the 4th inning to take a 2-1 lead.  Shawnee State responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th as they loaded the bases with two outs.  An infield single by Zac Shoaf plated two runs. Casey Woodell followed with an RBI single up the middle.  Rio Grande came back with a pair of runs in the top of the 5th to tie the game at 4-4.  Justin Craft plated Ryan Rowland with a one-out single in the 5th inning to give the Bears a 5-4 advantage.  The Bears put up 3 insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th inning on a bases loaded double by Ryan Rowland.  Rowland went 3-for-4 in the game with 2 doubles, 4 RBI, and a run scored.  Jared Perdue and Phillip Ashcraft scored two runs apiece.  Jonathon Venters (1-0) picked up the win as he allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits and 1 walk over 5.0 innings.  Tyler Hollar worked the final 2.0 innings to pick up his first save of the season.  Dustin Gibbs allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks through 4.0 innings.  Chris Brown (0-1) was tagged with the loss as he gave up the go ahead run in the 5th inning.  Kenta Sato gave up 3 runs on 3 hits in 1.0 inning of work. 

 
February 25 vs. Myers

Shawnee State split a double-header with Myers, losing the opener 8-2 and winning the night-cap 17-2.  Aaron Morrison gave way to Eric Spille holding a 2-1 lead after the third inning.  The defense then fell apart and Spille allowed 6 runs (only 2 earned) while retiring just 1 batter.  Kent Kobayashi faired little better as he allowed 1 unearned run as he walked 2 batters and hit another.  Tyler Hollar came on to end the inning and close out the game.  He allowed just 1 hit and 2 walks in 3 2/3 innings.  Casey Woodell and Kole Hargrave had 2 hits apiece for the Bears.  In the night-cap Zac Shoaf had 3 hits and 3 runs scored.  Ryan Howard and Ryan Rowland had 2 hits apiece.  Rowland drove in 3 runs and Howard scored 3 runs.  Justin Craft picked up the win as he allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and 3 walks over 5 innings.

 
February 24 vs. Myers

Shawnee State opened the season with a double-header sweep of Myers University.  The Bears won the opener  9-2.  Casey Woodell had a pair of hits and 2 RBI.  Jared Perdue had a triple and 4 RBI.  Zac Shoaf scored 3 runs in the game.  Phillip Holt picked up the win in relief of Jonathon Venters.  Venters worked 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and 2 walks.  Holt pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and no walks.  Shawnee State's bats came alive in the night-cap.  The Bears pounded out 19 hits in the 23-0 victory.  Casey Woddell and Kole Hargrave had 3 hits and 4 RBI each.  Jared Perdue had 2 hits including a grand slam.  Justin Craft was 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored.  Scott Randall picked up the win as he allowed just 2 hits in 4.0 innings.  He struck out 4 and did not allow a walk.
