Greetings from SSU!

Summer has just flown by, hasn’t it?  The new school year will be starting before we know it!

New Student Orientation began last month and we are excited to see so many new faces.  It has been my pleasure to speak to the parents at Orientation about the Alumni Association.  Beginning this year, I hope to get the Association more involved with our current students…

In two weeks, I will be traveling to Vanderbilt University in Nashville for a weeklong conference on Alumni Relations.  I hope to come back with a lot of exciting new ideas.  Also, when I return, I’ll be getting in touch with all of you who said you were interested in taking a leadership position with the Alumni Association so we can begin getting the Association off the ground…

The 17th Annual President’s Gala raised $25,878.02 for undergraduate research.  This year’s theme was “Test Tubes and Tambourines.”  It featured a delicious dinner and a Talent Showcase.  If you would like to be on next year’s invitation list, please let me know…

Believe it or not, planning for Homecoming 2006 is already underway, so mark February 4th on your calendars!  We are hoping to add some new events this year, including an alumni meet-and-greet during the basketball games.  If you have any ideas of what you’d like to see, please let me know…

As part of Homecoming 2006, we would like to invite all former Homecoming Queens and Kings to campus.  So, if you haven’t already contacted me about this, please do so we can get you on the list…

Speaking of schedules, the fall sports schedules for Cross Country, Women’s and Men’s Soccer and Volleyball have been released.  You can find them at www.shawnee.edu/off/athl/schedules.html#2005_Cross_Country_Schedule_...

As always, if you have any questions, or concerns, please let me know.  For those of you who will be around, stop by and see me at the Scioto County Fair!  I’ll be there from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, August 12th.  And by the way, Sammy Kershaw will be the entertainment that night…

Until next month…
