Associate Degree Admission Requirements

Applying to a Health Science program is a two-part process that must be completed before the deadline date listed on the web-site for each program.

Part 1: Apply to the University

There is not an application fee nor do we require and essay.

You may choose to apply on-line at http://www.shawnee.edu/ or complete a paper application and return it to the Office of Admission along with your high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores.

Part 2: Apply to your Health Science program

All of our Health Science Program Applications can be found here.

Print and return your Health Science Program Application, the $30 application fee and any required supporting documentation by the indicated deadline date.

Application and transcript should be sent to the following address:

Office of Admission

Shawnee State University

940 Second Street

Portsmouth Ohio 45662-4344

If you decide you are interested in competing for a seat in one or more of the Health Sciences programs, you MUST FIRST apply to the University. We make it convenient with our on-line application for admission. Declaring a Health Sciences program degree major on the University application DOES NOT mean that you have applied to that program!

After we receive your admission application, you will be sent a letter indicating that your application has been received, along with further information about applying to the specific Health Science Program of your choice. In addition to the University application, you must complete the Health Science Application form and submit a $30 non-refundable processing fee. This is the only process to officially apply to a Health Sciences program.

Each Health Sciences program has a deadline date for submission of all required materials. Please review the SSU catalog for these dates.

In the Office of Admission, we have a Health Sciences Representative who will collect and process your information.

Have you already missed a deadline for a Fall Health Science class? If so, we urge you to still attend Shawnee State University this fall. The Health Sciences program degrees are academically challenging. You may find that you need to first take some preparatory college courses prior to applying to a Health Science program or to enhance your application packet materials. The Student Success Center staff will help advise you on appropriate coursework during that year.
