SSU students presented at the 95th Annual Session of the 2017 Ohio Dental Hygiene Association
Shawnee State University Dental Hygiene students at the 95th Annual Session of the Ohio Dental Hygiene Association.
Shawnee State University Dental Hygiene students presented at the 95th Annual Session of the 2017 Ohio Dental Hygiene Association in Columbus, Ohio, and were awarded second and third place in the Informative and Research Poster presentation.
A total of 83 groups presented at this year’s session, with 6 of those groups being SSU students. Each of SSU’s student groups attained composite scores above 95 out of 100 total points.
The second place winners are Breanna Bias, Caylyn Collins, Kaitlyn Figlestahler and Brianna Neff. Third place winners are Alizeh Kanooz, Hayley Petrie and Kazee Smith.
Kanooz, President of SSU’s 2nd year Dental Hygiene class, and Micah Motes, Vice President, and Smith, Class Treasurer, attended the Annual Session as student delegates representing SSU along with the Cincinnati Component. Kanooz ran for the position of delegate and was elected to vote during the formal house of delegates session.
“It is a great honor to see our 2nd year students taking 2nd and 3rd place out of all those groups at this year’s Annual Session. We, as faculty, wish to foster in our students the importance of supporting our professional organization for the continuation of our professional freedoms and the promotion of oral health,” said Georgeann Kamer, R.D.H, M.S.A. and Assistant Professor of SSU’s Dental Hygiene program.
