Shawnee State University Development Foundation received a generous gift from Gracie Plum Investments, Inc. to establish the Gracie Plum Investments Scholarship.
The Gracie Plum Investments Scholarship was established by Francesca Hartop, CEO of Gracie Plum Investments, as a way to support the SSU cross country and track & field teams.
“As a community member, employer, parent and board member, I am personally vested in the success of Shawnee State University and its students. The energy and vision of its students coupled with regional business and entrepreneurial endeavors are a critical component of our community’s turnaround,” said Hartop. “I admire the on and off track results that Coach Eric Putnam and the Athletic Department staff have achieved for Cross Country, and establishing an endowed scholarship fund seemed like a great way to give back. Investments in athletic programs like this contribute to academic and professional success, and I look forward to this fund supporting top athletes with full scholarships, including housing, at Shawnee State.”
The endowed scholarship will provide a full tuition award to a full-time SSU student in good academic standing who is a member of the men’s or women’s cross country or track & field team. The recipient of the scholarship will be selected by the head coach.
The 2017-2018 recipient of the Gracie Plum Investments Scholarship has been announced and awarded to Marissa Smith.
