Shawnee State University’s Musical Theatre program presents Godspell

The Musical Theatre program presents the musical Godspell at 7:30 p.m. October 10-14

The Musical Theatre program at Shawnee State University presents the musical Godspell at 7:30 p.m. October 10-14 in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell is largely based on the Gospel of Saint Matthew and focuses on the last days of Jesus Christ.

The musical and subsequent movie broke ground with an energizing blend of storytelling techniques, games and comedy with pop, rock, vaudeville music and includes the songs “Day by Day,” “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “All Good Gifts,” “Light of the World,” and “Turn Back, O Man.”

Tickets are $10 for seniors, $8 for SSU faculty and staff, and $3 for SSU students. Tickets are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the McKinley Box Office, or by calling the box office at 740.351.3600, or online at vrcfa.com.

Godspell is presented through a special arrangement with the Music Theatre International.
