Shawnee State University welcomes John P. Feldmeier for Constitution Day at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19 in the West Sodexo Ballroom of the Morris University Center.

Dr. Feldmeier’s presentation, “What to Expect from the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2017 Term,” which will examine the potential impact of the new justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as the most notable cases accepted by the Court for its 2017 docket, their key constitutional issues, and the public policy implications of the Court’s ruling. Along with this, he will explore some of the Court’s traditions, procedures, and history as it prepares to open its next term on October 2, 2017.

Dr. Feldmeier, J.D., Ph.D. obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ohio Dominican College, his Law degree from Capital University Law School, and his Ph.D. from Miami University. As an attorney, he was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court; the Supreme Court of Ohio; the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit; the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Ohio; and all courts in the State of Ohio. Dr. Feldmeier served as co-counsel for the Free Speech Coalition before the United States Supreme Court in Ashcraft v. Free Speech Coalition (2002), testified before the U.S. Congress, and has co-authored two books.

Dr. Feldmeier is currently a Professor at Wright State University, where he teaches Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Public Ethics. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Dayton School of Law, where he teaches Constitutional Law and Criminal Procedure.
