Shawnee State University’s Development Foundation received a generous donation from SOMC.
Shawnee State University Development Foundation (SSUDF) received a generous donation from the Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) in support of SSU’s Department of Nursing.
The Nursing Department received fifteen Stryker Secure II hospital beds and tray tables, as well as other miscellaneous supplies.
“Over the years, SSU and SOMC have had a great working relationship. Employee recruitment is paramount to SOMC as they hire many of SSU’s health care graduates, including nurses. As the clinical/lab site coordinator, I sincerely appreciate the partnership with SOMC for the donation of the hospital beds and tray tables,” said Loretta Cooper, Clinical Lab Coordinator for SSU’s Department of Nursing.
SOMC’s donation comes at a perfect time with the new renovations to the Health Sciences Building, which includes new labs for the Nursing Department. The hospital beds and tray tables will be used in learning care of simulated patients in the classrooms.
“We are thrilled to support the Nursing Department at Shawnee State University,” said Megan McKenzie, Manager of Community Relations at SOMC. “This donation represents the shared commitment between SOMC and SSU to the health of our community. We are grateful for their partnership in training future generations of nurses.”
