The Madden Family Scholarship has been established at the SSU Development Foundation.
The Madden Family Scholarship has been established at the Shawnee State University Development Foundation thanks to a generous gift from Donald and Marian Madden.
The Madden Family Scholarship will support students graduating from a local Scioto County school or Notre Dame High School. Applicants must have a GPA of a 3.0 or higher and be enrolling at Shawnee State University to pursue a baccalaureate degree.
“We are honored to establish the Madden Family Scholarship at Shawnee State University,” said Frances Madden. “Shawnee State has played an important role in the lives of our community and in the lives of our family. We have family members employed at SSU, two children and several grandchildren who attended SSU and gone on to enjoy a great deal of success, and this year we have great-grandchildren enrolling to SSU. With this scholarship, we hope to support students from our area high school to go to college and earn a degree so that one day they’ll use their education to give back to the community and help make a difference in the lives of others.”
The Madden Family Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded with guidance of the SSU Financial Aid Office.
“The university recently retooled its scholarship program to provide more financial aid opportunities for more students. We are very grateful that the new Madden Family Scholarship will play a part in that program, and will help us retain the best and brightest students from Scioto County here at Shawnee State,” said Eric Braun, Vice President for Advancement & External Affairs at SSU.
