Dr. Jeffrey Bauer has been selected as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Shawnee State University announced today that Dr. Jeffrey Bauer has been selected as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Bauer was appointed Acting Provost in September after Dr. Alan Walker accepted the position of President of Sierra Nevada College.
“As we plan for a new generation at Shawnee State University, Jeff brings a passion for student success and a shared vision for the future,” SSU President Rick Kurtz said. “Over the past several months, he has played a critical role in our strategic planning efforts and has advanced several initiatives in our Academic Affairs division, including accreditation, retention, advising, and academic program review efforts. Jeff has a long history of service to Shawnee State University and the community and I look forward to continuing to work with him as he assumes this new leadership position.”
Bauer became Shawnee State’s first full-time faculty member in Geology in 1987. Over his 29-year career at SSU, he has held numerous leadership positions including Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Interim Dean for Research and Community Development, Interim Associate Provost, and Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences.
“I’m deeply appreciative of the opportunity to serve as provost at Shawnee State University,” Bauer said. “I have had the pleasure of working on multiple aspects of Academic Affairs at Shawnee State over my career. I’m proud of where we’ve been and I’m even more excited about where we are going as an institution and the role of our faculty. Our strategic planning process is providing us with a clear roadmap for how to best meet the needs of our students today, and into the future.”
