SSU is hosting a “Fill the Water Truck Drive” from 9 am to 5 pm, Feb. 18 at the UC parking lot.
Shawnee State University is hosting a “Fill the Water Truck Drive” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 18 at the University Center Parking Lot to show support for Flint, MI.
For two years, the residents of Flint have been in the midst of a contaminated water supply crisis. The unhealthy water has plagued the community and disrupted the health of thousands of people.
SSU’s goal is to fill a U-Haul truck full of cases of drinkable water from donations by students, faculty, staff, and members of the community to be given to the residents of Flint.
“This water drive is important is many ways. It brings SSU and the Portsmouth community together to assist and service another community in their time of need while educating students about issues happening around the world,” said Justin McMillan, Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs and Student Life.
The water drive is sponsored by The Division of Student Affairs, Student Government Association, Student Programming Board, AHANA (African, Hispanic, Asian, Native American), and Fraternity & Sorority Life.
